Title: The ghost and the darkness Post by: 4JC on October 19, 2003, 07:26:12 AM Hi everyone,
THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS Did you ever see this one? If not, check it out, this is one of my favorites. It received some poor reviews, but I thought it was excellent. "Based on a true story, THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS takes place in Africa during the late 1890s and concerns two ferocious lions who killed 130 railroad construction workers in only two months. A pair of courageous men, no-nonsense engineer John Patterson (Val Kilmer) and rugged hunter Charles Remington (Michael Douglas), set out to shoot the creatures, known as the Ghost and the Darkness. Making their task even harder is the two animals un-lionlike behavior--they kill in tandem, attack in the daylight, and show no fear of anything. Soon the hunters become the hunted.... MPAA Rating: R. " Read this review from the Christian spotlight. They say they are Christians, that's all I know about them, but the review seems accurate. This movie is not for young children http://www.christiananswers.net/spotlight/movies/pre2000/rvu-ghostdark.html God bless 4JC Title: Re:The ghost and the darkness Post by: Willowbirch on October 20, 2003, 01:26:23 PM "Not for young children"? LOL! I've got young relatives terrified of the marshmallow man! (Its an interesting story, if you want to hear it.) Kids can be scared by anything.

On the link I gave, at the bottom half of the page under viewer comments, a 16 year old tells how anyone over 15 should watch this movie. LOL I'm sure a lot of careful thought was given to come up with that number. Mean uncle: You ought to, or Marshmallow Man might get you! kids: Nah no such thing! Uncle: Sure there is. Hey, did you hear something? kids (doubtfully): Didn't hear something. What is it? Uncle: I think...ITS MARSHMALLOW MAN! Kids: NO WAY! Uncle (who, conveniently, has the garage door opener in his pocket): I think he's trying to get in! Kids: Noooooo WAY! (At this time, Mean Uncle presses the opener. There is an ominous rumble from the garage.) Kids: AAAAAAAAAGG!!! He's not coming in, is he???? Uncle: I don't know. Go peek out the back door, and see if he's gone. (The girl and boy carefully open the door. Mean Uncle pushes the button in his pocket. Another scary rumble.) Kids: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! THERE REALLY IS A MARSHMALLOW MAN!!!!!... (This is the same Mean Uncle who terrified another niece and nephew by pretending to be a bear pounding on the window during a lightening storm... ::)) Title: Re:The ghost and the darkness Post by: 4JC on October 22, 2003, 03:27:27 PM Willowbirch,
LOL That's funny, even more so because it sounds like something I would do. We laugh, but they'll probably sell the movie rights when they get older and make a fortune. Stranger things have happened. LOL God bless Wb, 4JC |
