Russia and India will conduct a joint counter-terrorism naval exercise in the Sea of Japan from April 24 to April 26, Russian media reported Tuesday. Russia will send two anti-submarine ships, a missile boat, a diesel submarine, a group of mine-sweepers, a tanker, two tug boats and two helicopters to take part in the exercise, the reports said. India will dispatch three missile destroyers, a missile corvette and a tanker to the war game, the reports quoted the press service of Russia's Pacific Fleet as saying. The two navies will carry out surface firing, air defense and anti-submarine maneuvers. They will also practice maintaining maritime order and countering piracy, terrorism, and drug smuggling. The INDRA-2007, a biennial joint exercise between the two navies, is the third of its kind since 2003. India is a major importer of Russian arms, accounting for around 40 percent of Russia's arms exports, according to the Ria Novosti news agency.
