Title: Judicial Watch says Muslim charities secretly supporting terrorists Post by: Soldier4Christ on April 11, 2007, 04:54:40 PM Judicial Watch says Muslim charities secretly supporting terrorists
Judicial Watch, a public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, has released a special report detailing the activities of Muslim nonprofit organizations operating in the United States. The report is titled Muslim Front Organizations: Moderate Non-Profits or Elaborate Deceptions? Judicial Watch says its report provides detailed descriptions of Muslim charities in the United States that allegedly support terrorist activity. Tom Fitton, president of the watchdog group, says the federal government is aware of these charities' presence and the danger they pose to America's national security. "Many of them are tied to terrorist groups or their leadership are supportive of terrorist activities or other nefarious types of activities," Fitton contends. "We thought, initially, the IRS should have closed down a bunch," he says, "and now there are even more, I think, that deserve scrutiny and some strong action." While the government has taken action against some of the groups, others are still functioning, the Judicial Watch spokesman says, and his organization wants to know why. "What Judicial Watch wanted to do," he asserts, "is take a look at some of the nonprofits operating that are aligned with Muslims and see if they're doing what they're saying they're doing, which is advocating nonprofit, traditional activities that other charities advocate; and, in fact, many of them are tied to terrorist groups." Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Judicial Watch filed a complaint with the Internal Revenue Service against nonprofit organizations that were reportedly being used as money laundering fronts for terrorist groups, Fitton notes. He says he finds it hard to understand why those charities today are still in operation. |
