DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  — No hymnals. No pews. No steeple. No stained glass windows. And no women.

This ain't your grandma's church.

Organizers of the Church For Men say that guys are "bored stiff" in many churches today.

The Church For Men meets one Saturday evening a month, drawing about 70 guys dressed in everything but straight-laced shirts and neckties. The service features a rock band, a shot clock to time the preacher's message and a one-hour in-and-out guarantee.

The church is part of a national movement to reverse what many Christian pastors and ministers are calling a troubling trend.

Studies show that men are less likely than women to show up on Sunday mornings, and the reaction has been an emerging testosterone theology of sorts. Churches nationwide are now reaching out to men.

one hour in and out!!!!

Let me rush right over there and join in this microwave generation. We want
instant gratification, instant salvation, instant coffee, instant service, instant
banking, ect...

No longer should we have to tarry untill we be endued with power from on
high. No longer do I have to seek the Lord while he may be found. I am
given a guarentee that in one hour I can meet God, get saved, feel gratified,
and have done my Christian duty for another 4 week. Heaven forbid that I miss
a football game, or a fishing tournament!

When will we learn that some things are not meant to be done when we
have the time. Can you picture Jesus telling YHVH "sure I die on the cross, rise
again,let the romans beat me,  but only if it can all be done in one hour!!!

Our service to the Lord is not a thing of time but of the heart. If we have not
commited every thing to Jesus,our heart, our life, our time, our family, our job
then we are just spinning our wheels.  If we serve God in everything but one
thing, holding only onto that one sin, vice, personal desire; then we are
serving him in nothing.
To stand in Jesus we must learn to kneel
To walk in God we must learn to stand still and see His salvation
To be strong we must first acknowledge that we are weak
To gain great riches we must first give up everything

If my wife only saw me for one hour a month, how long do you think she
would be my wife? The only way to get to intimately know someone is to
spend time with that person. I can not get to know Jesus with only one
hour a month.

Let us pray that the body will learn to earnestly contend for the faith that was
once delivered unto the saints. And pray that we will press on for the mark of
the prize of th high calling in Christ Jesus

Yikes!  No time to "be still and know that I am God" there.....at least that's what it sounds like to me.

It reminds me of a segment on Nightline.  I forgot the name of the group, maybe God's Men....but the group was "tired of the meek Jesus".....and wanted to show you can be a real man and be a Christian.  When I was in Bible college, we were taught that the word "meek" that Jesus used in the Beatitudes actually means "controlled strength".  So to me, there is nothing bad about being "meek".

If they are bored stiff then they are there for all the wrong reasons.


A movement to reverse? Reverse what? How many hours, days did people gather to hear the word of God? Jesus spent many hours and days teaching people that were hungry for the word of God.

Well, it's a known fact that the liberal churches are losing membership.....and I guess they are grasping for straws to try to save a sinking ship.  The Presbyterian church (USA) I attended for over 20 years (and had to leave)....the current pastor there sees nothing wrong with the gay lifestyle.  So they attract not only gays, but younger people (usually professional or artsy types) that also hold this belief.  I think this is such a sad, awful situation when the leadership leads people astray.

I guess the wheat and the chaff are being separated these days.

And the chaff is becoming more numerous.

Alright men - here's the deal.

Jesus Christ was God Himself, yet He put off His glory for a little while and became a man for 33 years He dwelt the earth and for three of those years, worked tirelessly to train a band of misfits into the early church. Then, He endured three days of beatings, tortures, betrayals, abandonments, unjust accusations, one of the most painful executions in history, and hell itself. He did this so that you could be freed from your sins.

Now, I know asking you to attend a church once a week for an hour plus change is asking ALOT of you afterall, Jesus has NO idea what its like to walk in YOUR shoes.  He has no idea how much of a demand on your time it is, to ask you to give up one morning a week to come to a building. Doze off while some Pastor on stage, tries to tell you more about Him.

So, in light of all your importance in this world, we are going to make a couple of promises.........

1) We promise you none of those "boring" hymns that extol the glory of God but make you roll your eyes... instead, we'll rock you and entertain you so church will seem less of a "burden" upon your busy schedule, and more like a free concert.

2) We will time the sermons so that annoying pastor won't keep you ONE MINUTE LONGER than YOU want him to. Again, you are more important than God, so we know how wrong it is to ask you to sit for Him for more than 60 minutes a week.

3) We promise you won't find a single woman here. Because who wants half of God's 6th day creation cluttering up your hour long church-nap?

Am I right?

So yes, at last church for REAL MEN!! Church that doesn't put you out in any way, shape, or form! Because that is how the God who created you with His breath wants to be approached..... with as little inconvenience to man as possible!


Oh, sorry......... did that come out a wee bit sarcastic?  :D

Real men that love Jesus, see this for what it is......... A farce!!

Don't forget that at the core of this is the rock band playing James Brown "I Feel Good" over and over again....cause that is all this is...get them to feel good and in the process lead them astray.
