Title: Needing God in Troubled Times
Post by: Cotton on March 28, 2007, 07:07:12 PM
I don't know about anyone else, but I find that when I'm in "trouble" is the time I pray and cry out to God. When things are going smoothly and good .. I tend to forget about God .. or worse yet .. get lazy in serving Him. It's just really sad to fall into this situation.  :-\

The nature of mankind. It is a sad situation that many will remember to call out to Him only in times of dire need. We all need to remember that we have great need of our Saviour daily, even by the minute.

Hello Cotton,

I think that we all suffer from this problem on a regular basis. As a result, we don't get many of the blessings that GOD has planned for us. Many of those blessings are priceless treasures that the world can't offer:  peace, joy, comfort, assurance, and countless spiritual treasures. The biggest thing is a day by day and hour by hour personal relationship with HIM that can grow stronger than any of us can imagine.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 1:9-11 NASB  And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;  having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Amen Brother Tom.

It's a matter of making up our minds to devote some time to GOD each day. Once we get into the habit of doing so we will find that it is a part of our daily life.

Brothers and Sisters,

I think there is a good comparison that can be made between physical needs and health versus spiritual needs and health. In fact, I think this comparison is quite logical and reasonable. I'll mention some common sense physical needs that relate to health, and you can make the comparison for yourself.

1 - How often does your body absolutely require water and other fluids to keep your physical body hydrated?

2 - How often does your body need food and nourishment for you to survive and/or to function normally?

3 - How often does your body require rest for you to function normally?

4 - If you want to enjoy the best physical health possible, how many other things are common sense measures to achieve that?  Examples:  healthy diet, vitamins, minerals, exercise, etc., etc.

5 - Which set of priorities are more important - physical or spiritual?

Brothers and Sisters, let me just give you one example to let this analogy sink in. Will you be physically strong and healthy if you eat, drink, and rest one hour each week on Sunday? The rest of the analogy should be common sense, and it will definitely involve your overall sense of well-being and happiness.

Are you neglecting or almost starving a top priority in your life? YOU DECIDE!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Psalms 127:1 NASB  Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

Ephesians 1:18-23 NASB  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Amen!  It reminds me of an email a friend sent to me the other day.

Without God's love for YOU & ME, The days of the week would be:

Sadday
Mournday
Tearsday
Wasteday
Thirstday
Frightday
Shatterday

Give God the Glory who made the days a Blessing to US!

Faith, I hope you don't mind but I snagged it so I could send it to my husband and my pastor.  ;)
