Title: Banning incandescant bulbs

There is a movement underway to outlaw incandescent light bulbs.

While I am a fan of Compact Flourescent bulbs and long ago replaced virtually every bulb in my house with them, I did it for two reasons:

1. To cut my power bill

2. By using the "daylight" variety, I totally cured the winter depression I used to get during the dark months.

I did NOT change to CF bulbs because the government forced me to. It was my own choice. And they are not appropriate for all uses. They are virtually useless outdoors in cold weather or in unheated spaces like my garage. They also can't be used in fixtures with dimmers.

This is another stupid move by bureaucrats who pretend to know it all while knowing nothing and have nothing better to do than to than make up endless regulations forcing their "superior knowledge" on the rest of us.

Making cars that get good gas mileage would make more sense. I drive a 1990 Metro that gets 50 mpg. Nothing made today except expensive hybrids comes close to that. While I don't think people should be forced to buy such cars, they should be available to those of us who want them.

Choice is the keyword here. They don't want anyone to have choices, they want full control over the people.

I personally cannot use fluorescent lighting in my home. My wife has photosensitive epilepsy. It is triggered by fluorescent lighting, even those that are working correctly cause her problems in this area. If incandescent lighting is done away with we would have to do without lights or go back to candles and oil lamps which probably will be banned also.

Sure they would.  They give off to much carbon and stuff as well.

As you said PR this comes down to control.  And our economic system is built around a capitalist base (I know it is actually a hybrid socialism).  Our gment should not be involved in our economic system by eliminating choices and thus shaping the economy.  Supply and demand are rulers of our economy and if the demand is there for incandescent then supply should be unfettered.  Unless said supply is PROVEN to be harmful to the greater populace then it should not be hampered with.
