Skeptic calls environmental activists 'hypocritical'

A global warming skeptic says Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is being hypocritical by urging Americans to cut back on energy consumption while he's building a house that's larger than most elementary schools.

Former North Carolina senator John Edwards has vowed that his presidential campaign will be "carbon neutral." In addition, he is pushing for a national ceiling on CO2 emissions to fight global warming. Edwards also recently told Beliefnet.com, "I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and focus on our own selfish, short-term needs."

Meanwhile, Edwards is building a 28,000-square-foot house on a 102-acre estate in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, according to George Landrith, president of the Frontiers of Freedom Institute. He says Edwards is just one of many politicians living lives of opulence while telling everyone else they should not be using energy.

"We saw that several weeks ago with Al Gore," he says. "You know, he uses in a single month more [energy] than most of us use in a year … at one of his homes; that doesn't even count the other homes that he owns -- all while telling us that he's buying 'carbon credits,' which I think basically means 'I'm rich, so I can pay to not feel guilty about the fact that I'm wasting lots of energy.' That's fiction."

Landrith says it's "hypocritical and self-serving" for Edwards, Gore, and other global warming alarmists to lecture people about energy consumption while "owning ten SUVs and a ten-car garage, flying private jets, and building mansions."

But from one hypocrit to another....they love what Al is saying...and will love what Edwards is saying.

Global warming myth set aside it is hypocritical to make such a statement as this while building a home that exceeds all that he and his family could possibly use while there are so many people in the world doing without homes and food.
