Marine Gen. Pace praised for calling homosexuality 'immoral'

A pro-family leader is applauding America's leading general for declaring that homosexuality is immoral and should not be condoned by the military. In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, U.S. Marine Corps General Peter Pace likened homosexuality to adultery, which he also condemned.

Homosexual activist groups are now calling on the general to apologize for the remarks he made to the Chicago Tribune, which quoted him as saying, "I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts." But Peter LaBarbera, director of the pro-family group Americans for Truth, says it took a lot of courage for General Pace to say what he did, because the homosexual lobby will now be going after his job.

“Their idea of civil rights is that we can’t voice our moral beliefs about homosexuality," LaBarbera notes. "And this is whole problem with treating homosexuality as a so-called civil right," he says. "You know, the fact is, he has a right to state his beliefs."

And those beliefs are shared by a majority of the people in America, the pro-family advocate contends. "I think, at least half the country -- according to a recent Culture and Media Institute poll -- agrees with [Pace] that homosexual acts are wrong," he says.

Homosexual activist groups are condemning General Pace and, predictably, attempting to intimidate him for stating the obvious, LaBarbera contends. "If you say that homosexuality is wrong, they come after you," he says; "and, ultimately, we have to believe that they are going to want to ban [speaking out against] it, just like is happening in Canada, and England, and other countries."

The homosexual lobby in the United States "has been very silent about this censorship that’s going on abroad, where we see people not even being allowed to say that homosexuality is wrong,' the Americans for Truth spokesman observes. "And so," he asserts, "you’ve got to believe that, under a 'hate-crimes' agenda, in the long term the gay lobby is going to want to silence people.”

Reportedly General Pace said he bases his opposition to homosexuality on his upbringing. He also told the Chicago Tribune that he supports the military's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy, which implements legislation signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1994.

The law passed by Congress and signed by Clinton states that the U.S. Armed Services' prohibition against homosexual conduct "is a longstanding element of military law that continues to be necessary in the unique circumstances of military service." The legislation also affirms that such conduct is grounds for discharge from the military.

What do all of these countries have in common - they all ban homosexuals from the military.

It is estimated that there is a total of approximately 65 000 gays in the military and reserves.

Actually there are many other countries besides those that you have listed that ban homosexuals from the Military.

Putting the U.S. in that list would be somewhat incorrect. The U.S. currently does not ban homosexuals as long as they do not openly proclaim their sexuality. There are other countries such as Greece and Turkey that also ban homosexuals just to mention a few. However the number of countries that ban homosexuals are diminishing significantly. It just goes to show that the entire world is becoming more and more immoral by the day.

Even Israel , which receives approximately 1/3 of all US international aid allows gays in the military.

Nations and overnments are secular, not religious, institutions.

With the exception of marriage, government cannot deprive citizens of their rights based on their sexual orientation.

The military is also a secular government institution under the Department and subject to the laws of the country.  It could be argued that even the Commander and Chief could be gay.

For practical purposes, even if the military knew the names of all 65 000 gays in the forces, it doesn't have 65 000 trained heterosexuals to replace them.

Replacing them just wouldn't be that big of a problem. By the way, there are all kinds of jobs that would not be given to homosexuals, some volunteer, and many paid jobs. Examples:  Boy Scouts, and Boy's Group Homes. There would be many other like examples where it just wouldn't make much sense to put a fox in charge of the hen house. That would simply be common sense and reality.

It is no different than any other sexual indiscrimination. The U.S. Military does have it's own laws that prevent sexual indiscrimination of all sorts. Homosexuality is just one of them. The Military "experimented" by placing women on ships. It caused many problems that detracted from the efficiency of those ships. Allowing openly homosexuals in the Military would also cause many such problems if not more.

I am proud to see someone in a leadership position standing up for what's right.  We need more people who are willing to sacrifice things.  We should pray for Mr. Pace and his job.  And we should also pray that more people would begin to take a stand for the moral principles that God has set.
