Any insight? Monique Title: Re:judging others Post by: Jabez on September 30, 2003, 09:36:11 PM I feel we must judge others. Now that being said let me say this.I mean we judge the type of people we call freinds, hang out with.I feel we must not judge if a person is going to heaven or hell.
Title: Re:judging others Post by: Saved_4ever on October 01, 2003, 03:41:40 AM Well actually the hell part isnt too hard. If someone openly denies Christ there is no other place that we know of. It's the heaven part that is uncertain from outside the believer.
Title: Re:judging others Post by: Psalm 119 on October 01, 2003, 09:15:26 AM Monique,
Jesus said we are to judge with righteous judgement (His judgement), at the same time we better have the beam out of our own eye. Example: We judge John Doe because he is having an affair....while we are engaged in looking at pornography. Jesus said if we even look at someone to lust after them we are adulterer's. We would be no different than John Doe. The pharisees were hypocrites....they would say "don't do as I do; do as I say" This judgement is ungodly. I know where we can get in trouble with judging our brothers is to second guess their motives. This can lead to sin on our part. On the other hand when someone is in blatant sin, (defined by the Word of God) it must be judged. I Corinthians 5 subject matter is: Immorality must be judged. The bottom line is ,what is our heart condition, before we judge. Psalm 119 Title: Re:judging others Post by: Heidi on October 01, 2003, 08:29:47 PM No, I do not believe it is up to us to judge others. Jesus says "Don not judge, for you will be judged in the mannner you judge others." I believe it is up to GOD to judge and up to us to be compassionate. I do believe that we can and should know what sin is and never condone sin. However, since we all sin everyday, until we've walked in someone else's footsteps, how do we know we wouldn't do the same thing given the same circumstances? I have so much plank in my own eye that there isn't time to take the mote out of my brother's eye.

You problably are along the lines of those who think that anger is wrong, not knowing the difference between wrath and anger. You must be missing the lines about righteous judgment and all as well. Yet, people continue to judge and condemn people and at the same time they say they are a christian!! They make me shudder. Title: Re:judging others Post by: Heidi on October 02, 2003, 11:13:48 AM Jabez, I think we make decisions about who is trustworhty and who is not. We can still forgive them, realizing that they are at the maturity level they're at, but is it wise to subject ourselves to that maturity level? I do not consider that judging, I consider it discernment. They are no better or worse than i am, but my decision about what friends I cultivate, incorporates a lot of factors such as interests, beliefs, and personal agendas, etc.
Saved 4ever, I do think selfish anger is a sin but we are forgiven for it. I am so much less angry than i used to be because instead of justifying it, i look at the attachments underneath it. It usually has to do with some selfish motive on my part, i.e., self pity,, arrogance, wanting attention, etc. As I deal with the underlying attachment, the anger melts. If it's still there, I give it to God and He shows me if I need to assert myself, stand up for something, or let go of it. But he can only turn anger around for the good if I'm honest about my motives underneath it. Title: Re:judging others Post by: Tamara on October 02, 2003, 11:39:52 PM Heidi????? DITTO.
