Title: divorce
Post by: supertrucker29 on January 16, 2007, 11:34:38 AM
Divorce! How does GOD feel about divorce? How do you know if you have entered into a godly marriage? I must tell you alittle bit about myself. I am a 27yr old truckdriver. I have been married to my wife for almost 7 years now. We have 2 beautiful kids together. She had a child before we were married.I have been unhappy since the 3rd month of our marriage. I must say that I have only stayed in the marriage because of the kids. I know its wrong but I did it anyway. How do I know weather or not It was a Godly marriage. I am so unhappy. I know that God does not believe in divorce. I have not found a person yet that can tell me they think I'M happy. Everybody that has ever known me has told me that they can tell me they know I'm not happy. I'm not looking for anyone to tell me its ok to get a divorce cause thats not what I'm looking for.I need some God led answers. I forgot that during my marriage I have cheated on my wife several times. I know its wrong but I did it anyways. The first time I cheated on her it was with her cousin which was a former ex-girlfriend. It caused her great pain. Tobe quite honest I was hoping for her to divorce me. But she didn't. She stayed. She must love me.(LOL) I think she is afraid she will not be able to find anybody else that will take her and our 3 kids. I am so confused and lost about what to do. Can anybody out there please help me.

Hi supertrucker29,

Welcome to Christians Unite.

You are right in that we will not advocate divorce. First question I have is do you have Jesus Christ foremost in your life and in your marriage? If not then you should make that your goal. Seek Him and you will find Him.

Secondly, exactly what do you consider a good marriage? Many people look for exuberant excitement in a marriage and if they don't have it all of the time they are not happy. That is not what marriage is all about. There will be downs as well as ups. There will be trials and rough roads as well as the smooth ones. Marriage is about sharing the bad with the good. Being there for each other in support. Putting each other ahead of all else except for God.

I strongly suggest that you and your wife get one on one counselling with a Godly counsellor, perhaps the pastor of your church.

Hello Trucker, welcome to CU.

Pastor Roger has given you some excellent advice. God hates divorce, and we should too. When you married your wife you made a covenant with her. Just as God made a covenant with us.
Marriage is sometimes very hard, it is something that has to be worked on constantly, I know that with you being a truck driver you may be gone away from home a lot of the time, but you still have to work on your marriage.
The first and foremost thing as Pastor Roger mentioned is to have a relationship with God. Let Jesus be your Lord and Savior, He will lead you in the right paths. Your wife obviously loves you and it would be a great blessing to you, your wife and your children, if you worked on your marriage, and more importantly on a relationship with God.
You are not alone Brother, there are a great number of people who have found themselves in the same situation.
Do as PR said get some marriage counseling.
I will be pray for you and your family.

I could add no more to what has already been said.
First and foremost is your relationship with Jesus.
Second is your focus on Jesus
Third is your trust in Jesus

Right now it does not matter how her walk is, or anyone elses.  It is all a matter of how your walk is with Jesus that matters.  You get your life right and put your trust and faith in Jesus and all other things will work themselves out.
