Title: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: livingbyfaith on December 21, 2006, 01:09:45 PM :) Age doesn't matter to me. I enjoy talking to all ages. But I have been on sites when they learned my age, I was ignored. In other places I have been accepted In some ways I might seem like an old fuddy duddy (as old people are often called! lol) but in many ways I am young at heart. I live alone and just like to talk to people from all over teh world. Keeps my old brain working. lol I don't have a car so I am kind of stuck in a little town with no transportation. I live in a hgh rise but don't have anyone to talk with there or just casually once in awhile. I don't like to play bingo, darts, or cards. Don't enjoy listening to their gossip or complaining. Most aren't Christians. Oh I do talk a lot when I get a chance. rofl What more can I say. Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: nChrist on December 21, 2006, 02:07:29 PM Hello LivingByFaith,
I'm almost sure that we have several people on the forum older than you are. However, I think that you've already mentioned an important factor: young at heart. I think that our real age should be measured by strength and maturity in CHRIST. We do have quite a few grandparents on the forum, and I'm one of them. Many people don't fill in their age in their account, so I really don't know how old or young some people are. If my memory serves me correctly, I think that our youngest member is 8 and our oldest member is 88. I know that we have many members in their 50's and 60's. All of our moderators are grandparents. I can speak for me and say that I'll be 58 shortly. I'm also proud to say that I'm an old-style fundamentalist. ;) That means various things to folks these days, so it's really pretty dangerous using terms that everyone might have a different definition of. YES, I could easily be called an old FUNDY and SQUARE. ;D I don't even know what these terms mean to some of the young people, but I don't mind explaining what they mean to me. Simply, I would say old-fashioned Biblical values that never go out of style, and I would also say that GOD is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. This could be a very interesting discussion topic. Maybe some others will jump in and want to give their own definition of old FUNDY. ;D Love In Christ, Tom (http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/tlr10/verse/Verse055.gif) Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: nChrist on December 21, 2006, 02:23:41 PM Hello Again LivingByFaith,
I forgot to mention one of the most important things I wanted to say about your post. I can assure you that your posts will never be ignored here. We really enjoy your posts, and you can look at the number of readers for each post to see that many people enjoy your posts. Sister, we have many people who come here and read as guests and never become members. It would be nice if they became members and participated, but we understand that many people just want to read. I'm just happy to know that many people around the world do enjoy reading the posts here. Love In Christ, Tom Psalms 107:8-9 NASB Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonders to the sons of men! For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, And the hungry soul He has filled with what is good. Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: Soldier4Christ on December 21, 2006, 02:49:09 PM Hi LivingByFaith,
I really do enjoy reading your posts and look forward to the Godly wisdom that you show in them. I agree with Brother Tom it is not the physical age that matters most but the Godly maturity. I'm looking at 56 in just a few weeks myself and am one of the grandpas Brother Tom mentioned. I consider myself a fundy also. I work with a lot of the children in the neighborhood here and many of them say I'm pretty cool for an old man. I sometimes wonder if that is meant as a compliment. :D Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: livingbyfaith on March 19, 2011, 01:06:27 PM Pastor Roger. It is so good to be back here! It looks like I vanished into thin air. In a sense I did.
From 2000 to 2006 I wrote over 100 articles. Then I went into a deep slump. Couldn't get up the energy to do anything. Not even put a dish away. I hated it but couldn't do anything about it. In March of 2010 (about a year ago) I was admitted to the hospital and I didn't know a thing until I came to myself in a nursing home in May the same year. I had colonoscopy surgery. Doc told my family I was between life and death. God healed me! He let me know He wasn't through with me yet. I had more posting to do. I am going to a great grand child's BD party shortly. I will continue my amazing story probably tomorrow. Those parties wear me out. God bless you. Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. I'm also very happy to hear about your good health. Speaking of good health, we had a 90th birthday party for my mother today, and she's in excellent health. In fact, she's actually healthier than any of her three boys. Everyone had a great time - from 3 months old to 95 years old. One of my mother's best friends is 95 and she's also in excellent health. Living to over 100 is pretty common these days, and many are in surprising good health. Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: livingbyfaith on May 13, 2011, 01:40:33 PM I'm 80 years old now but feel much younger in spirit. When I was in the hospital I didn't remember a thing from the time I told someone I was bleeding badly until I came to myself and discovered I was in a nursing home! Some things are kind of jumbled. Later I told my kids that no one came to visit me. They told me someone was there all the time even people from my church. As I began to come back to myself one of my family posted a pic of me in my bed at the nursing home!!! on facebook! Bunch of people were there including my son from Michegan!

Hello Livingbyfaith, There is no shame in not remembering in situations like that. That was the fault of the illness and probably had nothing to do with your age. I'm just happy that you are better now. Love In Christ, Tom Title: Re: Just curious---Is anyone as old as me 76 or close to it. Post by: duval on May 13, 2011, 04:45:57 PM I'm 80 like you.
