Imagine! A cross in a church! And an atheist had to SEE it! Quote The group said it is particularly concerned about “damage” to Thomas Jefferson’s “wall of church-state separation.” It seems to me that they are as afraid of a cross as the "vampires" were in those early horror flicks. So if that is the case then a church is nothing more than a building to me that people who do believe go to practice whatever it is they do, right? So my first point is who cares if it is in a church? If I am an atheist then it means nothing to me. I see many many phalacies in the atheists arguements. 1) How is seeing a religious symbol affecting your beliefs? 2) If you do not believe in anything then what does it matter? 3) Could it be that you fear the possibility that you may also believe? 4) Maybe God is working in your heart and you are denying it As far as polling in churchs...well we have elections on Tuesdays. Where are we going to have our polling booths setup? Churches provide a large amount of space. And that is space that is unused on those particular days as well so impact on people is neglegible. One area here has polling at a local elementary school. Which in my opinion scares me...nothing like a ton of strangers in a school of young children. Plus it interfered with their lunch and things like that. So a church is a prime spot for election booths. Title: Re: Atheists sue over polls at churches! It bothered me greatly especially with all the violence being done at schools. There is absolutely no way security can be conducted properly so the safety of the children is at stake.
As for the atheists .... anything that is against their beliefs is wrong and therefore should not, cannot exist. Title: Re: Atheists sue over polls at churches! Post by: Brother Jerry on December 01, 2006, 12:47:52 PM Yeah the biggest problem is that a true atheist does not believe in anything. Thus there can be nothing against their beliefs. If one says there is something against their beliefs then their beliefs are actually the opposite of what they say is against theirs.... For example if an atheist says that the Christiandom is against their beliefs then they truly believe in the opposite of Christ, which is in truth Satan, even if they do not realize it.
There is a difference between one who does not believe and one who denies. It is sort of like obstaining from a vote...your vote counts neither for or against. But if you cast your vote in the no column then it counts towards the no and not the yes. However as far as God is concerned you cannot obstain. Many of them are staunch believers in evolution as a fact, they are believers in themselves and will worship some thing of this world. One that I know worships money. I've really never thought about this before. There are many churches in our city that are voting places, including the place where my wife and I vote. I guess there are a tiny number of people who hate the idea of even stepping into a church. If so, I say, "TOO BAD." If they feel guilty and convicted just walking into the church, GOOD, that's a beginning.
