'm not sure if I sent a post or not, I wasn't through, but don't know enough about the workings to know how to find out.
Anyway, Tamara - I'm sure you know even though this is a Christian web site - we all need to be careful.  So I won't tell exactly where in TX I live.  I was born, reared and have lived most of my life in TX is very special.  Just ask my husband - he tried to convince me to move to FL a couple of yrs ago.  I lived in CA for a brief 4 mos.  I raised my children here in TX. I do love to travel and see other places - in the states and maybe if God allows - across "the pond".  I have visited Canada as a teenager, and loved it. It was so beautiful. I got the "wunderlust" as a very young child.  My parents loved to visit relatives in other states when the budget allowed.  Times were tough, but sometimes we got to go.  Hope that the answer will encourage others to talk about travel.

Aren't there any of you ladies out there who RV?  I sure was hoping I would get some input on that subject by now.  Shucks!  Maybe I'm just too old for you guys...NOT!  It's my husband's fault, he retired too early....just kidding!  ;D
I love to travel and I find that you meet so many really nice people when you are out there touring the countryside.  We've only had our 5th wheel a short time and I have to pinch myself to believe we really have one.  I dreamed and waited for a long time prior to buying this one.  We did a ton of research before buying.  My husband is an analyst by nature and by profession.  He was a programmer analyst for the state here in TX.  He retired with 30 yrs (2 of which were military).  I'm also retired from the state (20 yrs).
Now, come on, there must be somebody out there that RV's at least on the wk ends?

Hi Tamara,
I'm sorry - I'll explain.  RV has nothing to do with computers.  It stands for recreational vehicle (RV).  There are many, many RV's on the market here in the states.  My husband & I have what is called a 5th wheel.  Ours is essentially a movable home that has a slide out which enlarges the width of the whole body of the 5th wheel.  It's 29 ft in length and I forget the total length with our tow vehicle (a Ford truck) with the 5th wheel.  Please do not feel ignorant - only those who have searched the market for something like this become familiar with the terms used.  We spent probably 5 yrs on & off researching the market before we bought what we bought.

Hope I didn't confuse or get too "windy" on the subject   ;D.  RV stands for recreational vehicle.

I was born in Philadelphia, moved to Sarasota, FL 8 yrs ago. I was a real adjustment moving to a town that rolls it's sidewalks up at 5 p.m. during the week but I'm getting used to it.

I don't have an RV, but I do like backpacking. It's not quite the same, but it does make for some interesting travel and very nice scenery. Especially in the fall. What's the best place you've ever visited so far?

They are EVIL things!  :'( Stay away from them, IndiaInk! They don't really lead anywhere, and if you step on any of the millions of cracks, a loved one will be in the hospital with back surgery! They also prey on small children, eating them ALIVE, knee-first!

I see that this is kind of an older thread, but...

I'm from Houston, Texas (and we're looking forward to welcome all of our Superbowl visitors this week).  I grew up in a teensy weensy little town about 50 miles east of there and I've lived here all my life.

Sissy - not only do we have an RV, but we live in it full time and have for the past 3 years.  Talk about a non-materialistic lifestyle, if you get something new, there's so little storage that something old has to go to make room...lol!  We lived in a little 21 (or so) foot travel trailer until we were able to upgrade to a 5th wheel with triple slides (yeehaw!) which makes it much more roomy.  If you ever want to talk RV'ing or want to know of a great park near the Houston area, feel free to email me.

PS...to all of y'all...this is the friendliest forum I've ever visited; I'm already enjoying myself here  ;D

I love learning about other places.
I am from Oregon, lived here my whole life.
I have been fortunate to have seen a few other places though.
I used to work in California a lot. I usually drove and I had time to play tourist. I never had trouble finding someplace pretty.
I spent a little time in Texas and Oklahoma. Unfortunately the weather was bad, 86 and raining, tornado watches, etc. I didn’t get a chance to see the pretty places but the people were always wonderful.
My Canadian travels have been to B.C.
Banff, Lake Louise, Awesome.
The only part of Kansas I have seen was KC area, Lenexa, Overland Park. The weather was a bit too hot and humid for me there also, as was the Charlotte NC trips.
So many beautiful places to see I wish I could go to all of them.
My travels are limited these days to Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Not bad but I miss Arizona and California in the winter, and Montana in the summer.
Someday I hope to get Down Under.

I have got to ask. Roll up the sidewalks? Please do explain this one.

When the shops, theatres, clubs, bars, etc., and stores close and everyone goes home, the streets are void of people and not much happening.

It has been my experience to see this even in big cities, even New York City. The times of roll up just differ.

I am from Canada to i see elisabeth is from here to! and let me just say its MIGHTY cold here  right now. in the past few weeks where i live we have had anywheres from 0 deg freezing tempt's to -39 to -45 degree weather, now thats COLD!!! lol and alot of snow, but let me just say where i live in canada, its BEAUTIFUL in the summer and especially in the fall of the year!
I have loads of friends and family from different places in the GREAT Ole USA! i love you guys and support yous all the way!

My life has been ordinary and boring . . . I was born in a small desert town in Southern California.  Two days after graduating from high school, I packed up my '77 Vega and headed for the bright lights and big city.  I eventually settled down in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles.  I lived there with my new husband for about 9 years, then my job relocated to Ventura County.  As a result, we moved to Simi Valley California in order to be closer to my job.  After living "the good life" for 5 or 6 years, my husband called it "quits" and wanted a divorce.  I pulled my tail between my legs and moved to Northern California for a short time then moved again to a small desert town called 29 Palms . . . a very short distance from Palm Springs.  I loved it there.  I got a job, a house and a new car.  I didn't date but I didn't want to. . . . . fast>forward> I met the man I would eventually marry and move back to my hometown and here I am today.

See? Boring!

I was born in Puerto Rico, the 2nd of 7 children, the youngest of the only 2 girls. My dad was a very well to do photographer, but soon decided to move to the US, so when I was 2 years old he moved the family to New Jersey, where I grew up in Frank Sinatra town (Hoboken). I lived there and never left the safety of my 1 square mile little town, where everyone knew everyone. Until my dad sold his business, and his house and moved himself and my mom back to Puerto Rico, I was 31, 3 months after moving my dad passed away, so I went to PR for the first time since I was 2, I stayed with my mom untill she was able to make it on her own then moved back to NJ, after that my first marriage fell apart, I moved to Mass. and raised my children there when my son moved away and went to college, and the oldest of my daughters married and moved to California, I moved to Florida with my 2 younger daughters, I've been here ever since, I met my 2nd husband here and I love it here. I do miss the change of the seasons though. My sister sends me all different color leaves every fall. She knows how much I loved the Autumn up North.  :D
So now you know where I'm from. I consider myself from Pr, NJ, Ma, & Fl. But I am not of this world.  ;)

Hello Diane421, welcome to Christians Unite :D. I live in Florida, but I lived in Hoboken, N.J. for 31 years. I used to miss it, but not anymore. I can live without the snow. My son, my sister, my niece and my nephew still live in NJ. One of them lives in Hoboken still, that is where my son, niece and nephew were born. My sister is ready to move to a warmer state. I do miss the changing of the seasons, but once a year my husband and I drive through the Smokey Mountains and I really live it. I am looking forward to reading your posts.

The one thing I love here is the church we attend....Calvary Chapel. Everyone is just like family to our family. It is wonderful.

You're joking, right?  :-\  I don't know which part you're in...but all of my winter came in November and stopped there, with just enough snow left over for me to get a vehicle stuck twice in December. The geese have already returned and the bulbs are coming out and we have moths pestering our windows and the air smells convincingly like Spring...

(Another Michigan thing: my family never watches football, but we HAVE to watch the superbowl this year because its in Detroit...and it has the Steelers, from my dad's home-state, so guess what we'll be doing Sunday... :P )

I couldn't resist sneaking into the womens area for a sec. My family is all from the quad cities area. My grandparents were in Coal Valley and I still have an aunt and many cousins that live in Rock Island and Moline.

 ???  hMMM!  That is a good question.  I began life about 30 miles from Pittsburgh, Pa.
In 1953 I got married and moved to Falmouth, Mass. while my husband was in the air force.  Back to another town in Pa for a short time and moved 3 more times, same general area.

I'll boil the rest down to the fact that I have moved about 35 times in my 75 years.
I lived in different apartments in North Carolina a few times for short periods. 

Came back to Pa---again in quite a few different apartments.  12 years ago I finally settled down in a high rise in the town I was born in.

I am so glad I will be settled forever when I get to go to my new mansion in God's Kngdom.  I will never have to move again.  Praise the Lord!!!  What a day that will be.

I am from South africa. I was born here...moved to Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) where I grew up... back here after school. I met my hubby in a mission organization and have lived in Botswana, Mosambique and zambia. (I alsom stayed in Namibia before we were married)

We are back in south Africa now for a time of healing for me (Past abuse) and my older daughter (motor accident) We long to go back to the field, but that time will come.

Can't imagine living anywhere else :) I live right in the middle of 45 acres with about 15 of them being full of huge old oak trees with a few pines and hickory's here and there .The rest is my yard and pasture land.

I'm from Southwest Oklahoma, about 50 miles North of Texas.

You know that I'm kidding you some, but I have heard about the rough winters in Minnesota.  It's in the low 60's here right now.

Some winters feel like we are living at the North Pole (I chuckled as I read that).  It's the winds that I don't like......I could handle the cold much better without the winds.  I live west of Minneapolis and St. Paul (the twin cities).

Last year was a very, very mild winter.  We had some snow just on time for Christmas, but December and January still produced mostly rain.  This year, it's the middle of November and we have seen very little snow(which melted right away), we still have some very nice days to be outside.  The Northern part of the state has snow, but not where I live.

I don't see anyone else from Virginia. Well... I'm from Virginia.

I see this is a really old thread but I wanted to share anyway!  I looked through every single one to see if anyone was from my neck of the woods and only found a couple Oregonians!  I'm from Seattle!  Even though I was born here and live here now, I've been all over.  I've lived in other places in Washington and I've liveing in Ore, Calif, Ariz, Alabama and Mississippi!  Went lookin for love in all the wrong places you could say.  However there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home.......!  :D

I lived in Seattle for a while in an apartment building about 5 blocks from the Seattle/Bremerton ferry. It was just a couple of blocks from the unirail to the Space Tower. That was in 1973. Then I moved to Redmond in 74 until I got transfered to Hawaii in Feb of 74. I went back there on a Navy ship that tied up by Alaskan Way down by Myrtle Edwards Park in 1986.

What a small world, eh Pastor Roger!?  I actually live in Bellevue now and work in Redmond.  7 min. from my door to theirs!  It really is so crowded now that everything is connected from Tacoma up to Everett and from Issaquah and the eastside to the Sound!

I can imagine that it has changed a lot since i was there. When I lived there it was out towards Bellevue in an apartment complex that looked out over a small lake. I enjoyed going up to Snoqualmie Falls which we did quite a bit.

I live in a small town in central Illinois now.

I think I know the little lake that your're talking about.  I'm sure you wouldn't recognize any place now, we are so over-grown, however Washington is such a beautiful state.  We are surrounded by the Cascades and the Olympics (mountains), we have Puget Sound, many lakes and rivers and of course the tall Evergreen trees!  I love it!  Perfect camping in the summer, which is one of my passions.  At 50 I still like going in a tent and often go alone if there is no one that wants to go when I'm ready!  Single and independent!  That's me!  Well maybe there's a bit of stubbornness in there too! hahaha!

Yes, it was a beautiful area. I spent quite a bit of time on the Sound as I was stationed in Bremerton for awhile.

I am sure some of ya'll know where I am from but for the ones that dont know me and or forget.. I am a Canadian, live in one of the Maritime provinces (Eastern Canada) in New Brunswick!

I went to NC a couple of years ago for a week or so and OH MY,, the food was absolutley delicious!!! the Golden Corral.. thought I died and was in Food Heaven LOL.. and the IHOP.. heaven help me.. LOL.. im sure i gained 10 pounds just  that week!!
we have good food here.. but i must admit this.. NOTHING like southern fried food  and some of the other goodies , like BBQ pork,, the shredded kind, put into huge sandwhiches.. sheeshhhhh..
lol anyways enuff of that I am making myself HUNGRY for food that I can get here!! Collard greens... yummm!!!!

I realize you were asking TigerLily, but you just had to mention some food that I really enjoy. YES, I like "Tex-Mex", "Ok-Mex", "Mex-Mex", and just about any other Mexican food. AND, you just made me hungry for Mexican food. I'm on a diet and don't have any Mexican food in the house right now, so all I can do is pour some hot sauce on some "Melba Toast". Care for some?   ;D

I've seen some beautiful pictures of Arizona, but I may have only been through Arizona several times as a child.

I remember you asking about Christian art, and I hope that you found some things you could use here. We do have several threads on the forum full of Christian art and a large clipart section on the main Christians Unite board. I can't remember if I told you about the menu on the left side of each forum page. You should find several that involve Christian graphics. I think that the nicest graphics are on the forum, but it depends on what you need or want.
