Title: Target vs Salvation Army Post by: Soldier4Christ on November 16, 2006, 02:58:32 PM The Target chain of stores is giving the Salvation Army a million dollars but still will not allow the organization to set up its red Christmas kettles outside company stores this year. Target became the focus of much criticism when it announced the ban on the bell ringers three years ago. The company explained the decision as an effort to make its policy against fundraising at its stores consistent and also to spare customers from the potential discomfiture of being solicited for donations when they come to Target stores to shop. A spokesman for the Salvation Army says in addition to the corporate donation, Target is taking other steps to make up for the $9 million the charity used to raise outside the stores. Melissa Temme tells Associated Press that the retailer is also donating the profits from a Salvation Army ornament that will be on store shelves this week.
