Title: Massage Therapy Post by: rpfeffer on September 16, 2003, 01:40:21 AM Well, I just recently started going to massage therapy classes to become a massage therapist. I left college and all my friends to do this because I felt God had led me here for some reason. I don't know if it was to lay hands on people or what, but I knew it was something. Today in class we learned about Reiki, for those of you who are not famiular with this, it is a form of energy healing. It may also help with personal and spritual growth. Being a Christian I don't believe in other sprits besides the father and the son. and this procedure shows signs of other spirits... I was wondering what everyone thought about this procedure and if it is Christian friendly... I know it's my own decision and I am going to do what God feels is good for me, but maybe I will get the answer from God from one of you! ;)
Title: Re:Massage Therapy Post by: Tibby on September 16, 2003, 02:53:25 PM I’ve seen Ki/Chi healing work before. Reiki is based on similar principles. There is nothing in pure Reiki which conflicts with the truths taught in scripture. Origin talks about the life force. Ki comes from God. Ki/Chi healing is never mentioned in the Bible, no. But neither is Aspirin, nor is penicillin. Jesus clearly says he gave us the gift of healing, who is to say this isn’t part of that gift? I will not claim to speak for God.
But there is one difference between Ki/Chi healing and Reiki, and that is, Reiki uses channeling. That is one problem I have with it. I’m still a little skeptical, Channeling just seems WAY to far out there. Even for me. Now, I have to ask you this, Does Satan have the power to create? No. He does, whoever, have the power to pervert things. Is it possible he has perverted Reiki with the “Channeling?” Could it be possible that the intent was to use the Holy Spirit to heal, and Satan twisted it into Channeling? Of could this be a twist on the “Laying on of hands” verse? These are questions you have to answer for your self. Ultimately, we can tell you our thoughts, but you need to pray hard about this and come to a decision. In the long run, the best thing might be to just blow off the portion of your training. Fly though it, and never look back. Better safe then sorry. Plus you will not have to spend the rest of your life defending your career. Title: Re:Massage Therapy Post by: Saved_4ever on September 17, 2003, 01:01:07 AM You have to be real careful with pretty much anything from the eastern culture. It is all rooted in their "spirituality" which absolutely conflicts with the bible.
You will have to do more research on this yourself which may very well be time consuming. I would say though considering that you dropped everything for this it will be well worth your time. A lot of asian "arts" are based on focusing their spirit or "energy" which is based on some sort of religion. Not everyone that does it thinks or focuses on it but this is it's origin. There are shrines made to the dead in China which they keep up with because they don't want their ancestors and passed ones to get upset and curse them etc. A lot of the "energies" the claim to "channel" are based on this idea. Just something for you to think about. The devil and his minions are far from weak and have their powers as well. Don't become an open channel for them. Title: Re:Massage Therapy Post by: Tibby on September 17, 2003, 08:50:51 AM Then, there are guys like Origin and Plato, who had no trouble believing in an “energy,” even thought, as far as we know, they had never had contract with the East. Not to mention the Celtic and Native America peoples. As I said, I do beleive in "Lifeforce" it is the channel I have trobule with. That i the problem more christian have with Reiki, not the energy, but the claim that Channeling spirits gives them the energy.

You need to look a little better at a world map. Plato was from Greece and Greece is Eastern Europe. Perhaps you've forgotten a few things. A) Alexander the Great worked his kingdon well into Asia B) Greece was considered part of the "east" long ago and C) Reike or whatever along with a lot of things is Eastern not western. Channeling Energy, spirits or what ever is ALWAYS considered a spiritual thing. The West has had contact with the east for quite sometime including Origen. Title: Re: Massage Therapy Post by: Templedweller on August 27, 2006, 12:34:16 PM I went to school for Massage Therapy as well and Reiki is a subtle energy healing and the word means Universal Life energy The practitioner places their hands over organs and corresponding chakras that help to bring more Chi or reduce the Chi in an area of the body. Due to its correspondence to such points and due to my not being comfortable with this practice and the afore mentioned channels and channeling I do not employ it in my practice.
Many times through school I sort of felt like the Hebrew children in Egypt being under all the teachings and whatnot...but I do employ those things that are not glaringly against the Lord My Saviour. As much as I have poured over the Scriptures I am pretty focused to make sure a modality or procedure for massagae is not tied into any such thing that would be a dishonor or disservice to the Lord and My being a follower of Him. Sincerely, Templedweller :) Everseen, Always Loved & Never Alone!!! |
