Title: Favorite Scripture Post by: Terri on April 21, 2003, 09:25:19 AM Hi all,
I've been a Christian for a short time now, and I am finially reading the Bible and learning so much from it. Here is some scripture that touches my heart and fills me with hope. Galatians 5: 22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. John 15: 1-8 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine-dresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, an I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you. By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Feel free to share scripture that touches your soul and gets you throught the hard times, that lifts you up when your having a bad day, ect. God Bless you Terri Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: John1one on April 21, 2003, 11:52:49 PM Hi Terri,
One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 27:4 -- "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in His Temple." Thinking upon this Scripture keeps me focused; kind of like looking into that mirror in 2Corinthians 3:18 and becoming more and more like Him. As I think on that I have to think of 1John 3:1-2. It reminds me that all the work of God in me (and you too) is going to be a smashing success! We're destined to be like He is! What a thought! Makes we want to break out into singing the Alleluia Chorus, but don't sweet it, I won't. I've heard me sing before, so I'll just think about it! ;D God bless, John1one Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Terri on April 22, 2003, 10:01:59 AM Hi John1one,
Sing brother, sing!!!! He, He.My favorite song is: "Lord I Lift your Name on High, Lord I love to sing your praises..... You came from Heaven to Earth to show the way....... In Church this song is soooo beautiful as it echos throught the Church. It gives me goose bumps. My voice isn't angelic either but when it comes to singing to the lord, I let the vocal cords do their thing. Thanks for sharing your favorite scripture!!!! I really like 2Corinthians 3-18. It gives hope, and I can see where it would keep you focused on the Lord. Also if each of us could see God in one another the world would be a much better place. Thanks for sharing!! Have a great Day.... Your sis in Christ Terri Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Symphony on April 22, 2003, 09:11:27 PM Galatians 5: 22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.[/img] I'll just take the first one. thank you, terri. Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Terri on April 24, 2003, 10:48:54 AM Hi Ambassador4christ,
Really like your post!!! Great picture. Thanks for scripture. Last night I was reading the Bible and I can upon Romans 13:8-12. Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, " You shall not commit Adultery, You shall not Murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covent," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying,"You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; love therefore is the fulfillment of the law. And this do, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. I really liked that, and wanted to share it. I wish more people would love their neighbor as they love themselves. Or even just take time to get to know one another and except on another. Have a great Day!!! God Bless Terri Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Sapphire W34P0N on April 24, 2003, 11:10:46 AM Luke 23:43
"Jesus answered him, 'I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.'" It's a really encouraging verse. Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Terri on April 24, 2003, 01:37:56 PM Hi J.E.
Thanks, that is encouraging. I am writing down these verses in my journal so when bad days arise all these verses will be on hand and give me hope and inspiration. Also when others are having hard times to share with them as well. Thanks J.E. (Hebrews 11:6b) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligenly seek him. God does not exist. He was, is, and always will be. We, the creation exists. God is spirit, eternal. The creation is physical, temporal. Thanks for your scrpiture. I was looking up scripture we covered in Chruch today and came upon Psalm 34, I loved it so I will share it with all of you. It's fits today perfect being Sunday and a day or worship.. Psalm 34: 1-7 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; And Let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord. and He answered me. And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. And rescue them. The best part of this scripture is when we call on Him, God hears and answers and forgives and we have nothing to be ashamed of, he will continue to make us new and whole again. This is Greaaaaat! Hope everyone has a good Sunday Surrounded in Gods Love Terri Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Symphony on April 27, 2003, 07:32:49 PM mmmm, Psalm 34, nice, delivering me from all my fears. Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Shylynne on February 16, 2004, 03:24:09 PM Be still and know that I am God.Psalms 46:10.
God wants to be our guide thru every moment of every day, to be the center of everything we say and do, and be with us everywhere we go, but how often do we miss the gentle nudges He gives us, because we do not still our own thoughts, waste precious time trying to come up with answers to our own prayers, or are too busy struggling to figure out solutions to our problems. I am determined not to miss anything he wishes to do for me or to give to me, simply because I did not believe it possible, or wasn't looking, or was too busy with my own thoughts and duties to be listening when he spoke. "My sheep know my voice," said Jesus, "and they follow me." When He leads us beside still waters, and nothing seems to be happening, and that mountain doesnt look like its going to move, it`s then He desires for us to be still, that we quiet our hearts and minds, and listen. GOD IS GOD. He has the answers to all lifes questions, He knows what we need to say or what we need to do to resolve every situation, He even knows how to reach that person you cannot seem to reach. How oft does He find us not listening? Title: Re:Favorite Scripture Post by: Shylynne on February 16, 2004, 03:50:07 PM 11 And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 1 Kings 19:11-12 (King James Version) We expect God to get our attention with a shout or a monumental event, but God doesn’t always move mountains when He speaks. Contrary, God often whispers when He speaks to us. That being the case, how can we hear what God’s saying if we don’t take the time to listen? God wants us to take time away from our hectic lives and spend it with Him. Our world is full noise: traffic, radios, TVs, friends, family and even our own thoughts batter the silence. Noise becomes addictive; it’s difficult for us to be without it. Those of us who live in the city have lost our understanding of what quiet means. God calls us back to rest in Him. In Him, we’ll find peace. In Him, we’ll find comfort. In Him, we’ll be refreshed. In Him, our perspectives will be reshaped. In Him, our tears are wiped away. In Him, our hurts are healed. In Him is life. http://www.ssvoice.com/week1.asp Our God is a awesome God! |
