Title: Scriptures of Peace and Comfort
Post by: nChrist on September 12, 2003, 10:38:08 PM
Psalms 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I consider this to be a particularly beautiful portion of Scripture. It can mean so many things to different people in times of difficulty or trial. Regardless, there is beauty, peace, and joy here from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

In Christ,
Tom

I agree.
Keith Green has put this verse to song, and it is beautiful beyond words.
The Lord took him home early in his life, but his music is more popular today than it ever was.
God bless you. Roy.

Brother Royo,

I'll have to look for that song. I do love this portion of Scripture. This is a favorite portion of Scripture for many police officers to read, especially right before a dangerous assignment.

Here's something a lot of people don't know. Most police officers in America have prayer before going on duty, either in a group or individually. On my department, we had shift prayer three times per day, seven days a week.

In Christ,
Tom
