Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: Corpus on September 08, 2003, 02:34:50 PM Nickel Creek's my favorite.
Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: Tibby on September 08, 2003, 05:57:38 PM Nickel Creek is good, but they are a little to basic for me. To me, blue grass just isn’t bluegrass unless their fingers are playing faster then my driving. ;D
Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: Corpus on September 09, 2003, 08:54:30 AM WHAT! Clearly you haven't seen Chris Thile play that mandolin.
Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: Tibby on September 09, 2003, 01:30:19 PM They are good when you compare them to say, Metal or Punk (come on, powerchords take no skill to play), but for Bluegrass, they are average.
Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: psalmistsinger on September 09, 2003, 01:46:37 PM How about New Grass Revival? They don't record as a group anymore but Bela Fleck is astounding, and John Cowan has one of the best voices in any type of music!
Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: Coyote on September 09, 2003, 09:14:08 PM I asked because I am a struggleing banjo student (I can't keep my fingers going in the right direction :)). I grew up engulfed in Bluegrass music, and even sang in my Dad's band. I mainly sang gospel, especially for our nursing home shows. I have a fondness for the music that drives my friends nuts.
It makes me happy knowing that I am not the only fan out there. Bless you all Jim Title: Re:Bluegrass anyone? Post by: new_self on September 10, 2003, 08:48:04 PM String Cheese Incident is one of my favorite bands.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are awesome too! I'm just starting to get into bluegrass and the more I listen to it the more I like it. Just curious did anyone catch the bluegrass all-star on pbs a few weeks ago? new_self |
