Title: A reminder for all church musicians Post by: login_beta23 on July 29, 2006, 11:47:58 AM As you know, this revolution Christian Rock music changed the way we worship forever. Famous Christian rock bands such as Hillsong United, Delirious and many more inspired many new kinds of praise and worship.
But the point is we're doing it for God. Let me tell you my story. I've been playing in the church Youth Band for almost a year now. I joined the band because I want to "perform". I play the bass like crazy. I'm getting praise from people. Girls starts to have a crush on me. Then came to the time that it got to my head. I joined the band to "perform". One intermission night, I was playing in stage during worship. Then God said to me "My son, I'm disappointed because you are here in front of Me "performing"." Some people are on stage to perform and to gain fame. That's what I did. And when God told me that, I was ashamed of myself. I was playing in front of God trying to impress people, not the one who put me on stage "GOD". We church musicians, we play for God. We're not perfoming to show off in stage. God restored to me the Heart of Worship. An instrument is used to worship God and not to get self praise. So if you are playing in the church band just to "perform", leave the band. I am a singer and I play also but mostly I sing and when people try to praise me I remind them that I'm just his vessel and not to honor me but honor the one that gives the talent. :)

People give those of us that sing compliments....and it embaresses me. Sometimes I do get cought up in concern about makeing sure it sounds good, mostly I have a hard time holding back the tears. I think I am on the right track. I'm there to worship God and the tears are difficult to hold back. I am so thankfull for All Gods blessings, and the ability to serve Him. My goal.........be more open with my worship and less concerned about the people looking at me. Thats why I am a drummer, I can hide behind them ;D When we Sing, I am standing in front of the people and I get shy. But all praise and glory to God, and it keeps me going, and scheduleing my weekend around God. |
