Well let's see. My day has been pretty dang overwhelming but blessed nonetheless. It's hot as heck in TN! Over 100 degrees and that's somewhat unsual. I think I just officially sounded 30 by complaining about the weather. Yes. I just turned 30-July 11th- I am now checking out the "other side of the hill". So far, so good. <grin>

I visited Phoenix (Tempe) in 2002 then again in 2003. When I was there, in my spirit, I felt like that was where God wanted me to be. I looked into going to school there but... didn't have the money to move. Right now Im contemplating since my lay off - and school not being readily accessible if God wants me to just pack up and go?

Short version: He's in jail.... a sever alcholic...my mom is staying with me, which is tough, because I lost my job in April.....but God has done so much with her (She too use to drink)

The interview went really well. I'm not sure if I got it or not yet but... yeah.
If you could keep praying that'd be great.

It was one of those 3 panel interviews where they sit you in a room and drill you for an hour. I did well. I'm quite the talker. <grin> Extroverted talker that is. But none of you people would know that yet because you just hijack threads around here.

WOW! - Over 30 - I have socks that old, and I'm wearing them.   ;D  It's really not that bad, and you have 30 years to think about being 60. If you had wondered what  is on the other side of that first hill, it's another much bigger hill. Just get a better pair of climbing shoes and enjoy the trip. Stop every now and then to smell the roses and enjoy the view.

Hmmm, interesting how this thread is turning out.
Lets see, I'm 29, happily married for five years to a blond (following Gary's lead here) who is a "mad" scientist..LOL (just kidding).  Both of us love the Lord and are now working to tie our very large family back together in the hopes that those still lost will come to find the way through Jesus Christ.  No children but I have two cats that act just like them (see the pet thread).  Their initials just happened to be T n T....go figure.  Pennsylvania is where I call home and I like it very much.  Work in HE which is great and there are a lot of Christians on the campus I work, and it happens to be a secular school.  Praise the Lord for that!  I once was a lead singer in a rock band that had some nice regional success but I wasn't cut out for that life style and  so now I enjoy working in my garden in my free time.  I can't wait to go home (not from work, I mean our real home) and be with the Lord.  Hows that!!!?  Enough info?  ;D ;D ;D    No frappacino is not coffee, its just a bunch of goop ;D.  Although I'm not sure Navy coffee is coffee either, but PR is the pro on that subject so he will have the final say....LOL!

Hello Selina, I am over 30 too *snicker* I am married I have 4 children of my own and I also have 2 "daughters", actually my stepdaughters, I've raised them since they were 7, they are now 14 & 15. The older one was only 1 month shy of her 8 birthday, they are only 11 months apart. I've had my ups and downs with them, but they are sweet. I know they love me and I love them. The younger one is a 'ditz' she is very funny and has such a sense of humor she keeps me laughing, she is also very talented. She plays the flute, reads and writes her own music, and she is a terrific poem writer, I am copywriting her poems for her. The older one is a little more reserved, and quiet, but she is very attentive to all my needs, and she is very helpful, at 15 she is already 5'10" tall which comes in very handy to me when I can't reach something. ! am only 5'1" . My own children are 3 girls and 1 boy (man) he is over 30 too,  ;D, in fact all but my youngest are over 30 the youngest is 25. I have 14 grandchildren. WOW. they are so precious to me.  :D
I too am disabled and have been for almost 8 years now. I am an artist, although it's been a few years since I have been healthy enough and able to do any paintings or drawings, I make jewelry. I also crochet, and do ceramics.
I translate lessons for my church from English to Spanish, and I volunteer at the bookstore in my church. My hisband is a retired Marine, but he still works for the government in the military area, as a civilian.
I go to Layman's Bible school at my church and I will graduate in May of 2007.

The only pets I have are fish, they are easy to take care of.

Um it's going. I have a heavy heart though. For a gazillion reasons. But then I consider the reasons and I hold tight to the knowledge that "GOD IS BIGGER THAN THE BOOGEY MAN" --- somehow it calms me.

I guess I'm worried the most about getting a call back from the job I interviewed with last week.
I just wish I knew what was going on....then I get frustrated and I think "Trust God Selina just trust Him to provide for you." ya know... (sigh)

Lunch and a movie, my sermon today was Meekness can equal strenght.

ahh tell me more about strength....

Meekness is so important that it is the third characteristic Jesus mentions in His foundational teaching, the Sermon on the Mount: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth" Matthew 5:5 God-authored, organized list of the characteristics of the perfect man. Others have made lists of outstanding virtues, but Jesus' list is unique in that He relates them to the Kingdom of God and in the depth and breadth of what He meant.

How can this be, though? Given how modern man considers those who are meek, His statement about meekness is almost incomprehensible. The world would word this, "Blessed are the strong, who can hold their own." 

We do not stand alone in our perception of this word. The ancient Greeks did not rank it as a virtue either, except in a very narrow circumstance. At best, they used it as we use "condescension" today and by it referred entirely to men's external relations with other men. Jesus, while retaining its reference to men, lifted it from its narrow context and made it refer primarily to our relations with God. In his comments on Galatians 5:22, meekness is "the most untranslatable of words in the New Testament."

This does not mean the meek will take everything "lying down." Notice Moses, who as we have seen, was the meekest man of his time. He did not hesitate to order the execution of about three thousand of the idolaters who worshipped the Golden Calf while he was with God on the mountain Exodus 32:25-28. Against evil this meek man was as stern as steel. How a meek man reacts depends upon what he discerns God's will is for him within the circumstance. Because the meek man sets his mind on God's purpose and not his own comfort, ambition or reputation, he will offer implacable resistance to evil in defense of God yet react with patience, kindness and gentleness when others attack him.

Jesus set a clear example of this pattern of reaction too. He made a whip of rope, and with stern and vehement energy, overturned the tables and drove the livestock, their sellers and moneychangers from the Temple compound because they had turned God's house into a common bazaar by their sacrilege. With simple, forthright, firm instructive answers and incisive questions, He met the twisted, intellectual, carnal reasoning of the scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees. Yet as Matthew 12:19-20 reads, "He will not quarrel nor cry out, nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench."

A meek person will feel the wrong done against him and feel it bitterly. But because he is not thinking of himself, his meekness does not allow his spirit to give vent to a hateful, savage and vindictive anger that seeks to "get even." He will instead be full of pity for the damaged character, attitudes and blindness of the perpetrator. From the stake Jesus uttered, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do" Luke 23:34. This virtue is a strong bulwark against self-righteousness and intolerant and critical judgment of others. Yet neither does it excuse or condone sin. Rather, a meek person understands it more clearly, thus his judgment is tempered, avoiding reacting more harshly than is necessary.
