How Democrats 'support the troops'

by Craig R. Smith

Help me understand how ignoring the torture and slaughter of two U.S. soldiers at the hands of total animals while keeping fellow soldiers in shackles at Camp Pendleton for doing their job is "support of the troops"? If that is what Murtha, Pelosi, Kucinich, Kerry, Gore and the bunch consider support of the troops, I can only hope they never support me. I suspect most soldiers would agree.

Why don't we respond? Because if we do and our troops are allowed to take off the gloves, the liberal media and the liberal Democrats who claim to support our troops will demand the soldiers be brought up on charges. They will make sure that the world observes the evil Americans and their horrific tactics while they glorify the "resistance."

Were our GIs found in the condition that meets the standards set forth in the Geneva Convention? Were they treated like normal "enemy combatants"? Were they given shelter, food and medical attention? Were they provided with Bibles or Qurans and placed in prison cells to await the end of the conflict?

Did they have underwear put on their heads and were they harassed by dogs? Were there embarrassing group photos? NO! While the reports are not out as of yet, one can only imagine that there would be no need for DNA identification if our soldiers' hands and heads were still part of their bodies. For the families' sake we have yet to hear what condition these animals left our men, but rest assured, it is not the condition Gitmo detainees are in tonight.

So let's get this straight:

United States POW=captured, tortured and killed.

Insurgent POW=clothed, fed, entertained and cared for.

Why is it that our country feels no sympathy for those who fight for our freedom, our fellow citizens, but is outraged when our brutal enemy must suffer embarrassment? Where are the human-rights groups protesting the treatment of U.S. prisoners of war? Doesn't this make you just a little mad at the terrorists, Murtha, or are you too busy hating Bush and sucking up to the cameras with your cut-and-run rap? Supporting the troops again! All for what? To see George Bush's poll numbers drop. These liberals are sick. They really need help.

It is high time we come to realize we are fighting animals not humans, and come to grips with the fact that this is a war.

Think about these soldiers who just lost their lives. They were in a no-win situation. If they took action and fought their way out of being captured, one of the dead insurgents would miraculously become an innocent Iraqi (that is Demspeak for an outed insurgent). They would be put in shackles and thrown in the brig to await a possible sentence of death. If they don't fight but surrender, they are be butchered for sport.

Show me one captured American soldier that has lived to talk about his capture unless we rescued them before a parishioner of peace beheaded them. I can show you hundreds upon hundreds of captured insurgents/terrorists that live better at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib than they ever lived in their pathetic existence in Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia or wherever the heck they came from. I'm being polite with my words here.

When will we as a nation stop the rhetoric and allow our men to fight? Have we become so wussified by the left that we are going to allow our troops to be held in prison on murder charges while the vermin they were fighting are allowed to continue their slaughter? When will we get the collective backbone to get this over with by doing what we all know needs to be done?

What would that be? It's simple. Shock and Awe II.

You give al-Qaida the word that the bombing will begin in 48 hours over every city that they have a presence in. You give the civilians the ability to get out or turn over the terrorists that live among them. If they don't get out or expose the terrorist, they die with them. If they don't want to die, they can kill the terrorists themselves. That's the ultimate in Iraq standing up while we stand down. They can do it or we can do it for them, but it should get done. That, Murtha, is support of the troops!

Or we can follow the path of Murtha, Pelosi and Dean. You know the overwhelming "support" they show our troops – the support that is getting them killed. Talk about Rumsfeld sending them into combat without body armor or uparmored Humvees. How about what the Dems are doing? Sending them into battle with their hands tied behind their backs. It's hard for troops to defend themselves, no less Iraq, when they can't shoot or kill. Of course, this is the same support John Kerry gave our troops in Vietnam by calling them "baby killers" and "murderers."

Is the political appetite of the Democratic Party so overpowering that they will allow troops to be captured and killed and not respond? Do they really hate GWB that much? Can we continue on the path of appeasement that the Dems so strongly believe in? This same appeasement now has North Korea testing missiles with nukes that can reach America and the Iranians going nuclear.

Madeleine Albright was just supporting the troops when she "diplomatically" gave North Korea nuclear technology. It was for peaceful purposes after all. Jimmy Carter wanted to make nice with the ayatollah before our hostages were marched out of the embassy in Tehran. The Dems are setting us up to be killed. Oops – they are supporting the troops – sorry.

Enough is enough. America has to get in one accord like we were Sept. 13, 2001. You remember. It was only a few short weeks later that folks like Kerry and Pelosi were giving the authority for the president to attack Saddam and his henchmen in Iraq. But then again, Kerry voted for the war right before he voted against the war. We need to tell Pelosi that we don't need her "supporting" the troops anymore. We don't need Murtha "loving" the troops anymore. We need to allow our troops to do their jobs without the ACLU, New York Times and every other left-wing whack job second-guessing each move after the fact for political gain. Their political ambitions are getting our guys killed, and enough is enough. The left, as I have said before, needs to shut up and sit down. They need to realize we are fighting animals that have no regard for any human life. They will torture and behead anyone who gets in the way of their plan, including fellow Muslims.

We will win this war despite the "support" the left has shown for the troops. Cindy Sheehan and John Murtha will be shown to be what they are – opportunists of the worst kind. I don't want to hear about Murtha's war record. To quote my regular reader Vinny:

"Murtha reminds me of that bellicose, old drunk, sitting at the end of some bar, usually at the VFW post, downing shots and beers, and complaining about everything – from the price of gas to teenagers to our servicemen to Vietnam and Iraq. Because he's protected by his old age and former service, the folks just suffer his rants, buy him drinks and hope that he will pass out, or that his wife will come get him and lead him out by the ear. You can really get a rise out of them by saying, when watching a football game: 'This is going to be a WAR.' They go nuts, and proceed to tell the whole bar that you don't know what a war is, but he, of course, does Then he proves it by citing every 'battle' he was in and what a coward you are for not being in them."

Murtha and Sheehan are singing from the same sheet of music, and while they tell you the song is in support of the troops, they are both very much off-key. Allow our troops to do the job they were trained to do and this war will be over and there will be a "W" on Iraq's, America's and the free world's score card. Terrorism and terrorists are real and have to be sent a clear message from the civilized world: "You are not welcome here if you continue to torture and kill. We have decided it is us or you, and you have lost the vote."

The liberal left clearly supports the troops. I just wish it was ours.
