Like most things people are trying to predict what will happen in the future. That is exactly what polls do. These polls are inaccurate because they only take a small sampling of the popultaion and do not reflect the true overall populations opinion. With that said I still enjoy reading about them as they often give me some good laughs, especially so when the actual voting is finished.

Gallup asks Democrats, Republicans to pick favorite

A new Gallup Poll on possible 2008 presidential candidates has Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the lead.

Democrats overwhelmingly choose Clinton while Republicans give Giuliani the edge over Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

The poll was open-ended, with respondents asked to name someone. Roughly half said they hadn't thought much about the election.

Clinton was named by 36 percent of Democrats as their first choice, followed by former Vice President Al Gore at 16 percent, former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., at 12 percent, and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., at 11 percent.

Giuliani was the choice of 29 percent of Republicans, followed by McCain with 24 percent, Newt Gingrich at 8 percent and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., tied at 6 percent.

A Gallup Poll in August showed potential Republican candidates for the presidency faring better than Democrats.

In hypothetical matchups, both McCain or Giuliani would defeat Clinton by a margin of 50 to 45 percent.

From the look of things, the GOP may not need a "Draft Condi" movement after all.  Still, Dick Morris's book "Condi v. Hillary" is an interesting read (and has a lot of great history!).  Morris believes that Hillary is unbeatable (except by Condi), but others feel that if the Democrats want to win, they WON'T nominate her!

It'll be an interesting run . . . and a good time for President Bush to accomplish some things under the radar, perhaps.
