Title: Questions in the Christian faith Post by: ED500 on May 30, 2006, 04:52:31 PM Where to find these: (neutral = non- christian, sectarian,secular..)
(1.) Neutral sources of christian religion about the accounts of how the Bible was compiled. (2.) Neutral souces of the validity of the Bible as a HISTORICAL book, not mythical literature. (3.) Neutral sources about the life of Jesus Christ and his resurrection, ascension etc. (4.) Neutral souces of the true existence of the Berean Church other than what is accounted in the Book of Acts. Why am I asking these questions? Because I have a non-believing wife who wanted to know if christians have neutral historical basis of what they believe. PLease don't bombard me with biblical passages because I know what is in the Bible. I already told my wife that it will costs us or me 4+ years of studying the Jewish/Roman history etc etc that is not made or started by a chirstian group etc. Thanks God Bless. Welcome!! (http://www.sirinet.net/~blkidps/welcome.gif) You might have your work cut out for you. The first thing you might want to mention is that world time is set by JESUS CHRIST (i.e. BC, AD). The best material written is obviously from the Bible, and the Bible proves itself. If you talk about writers other than Bible writers, the best ones are obviously going to be Christian or Jewish or both. The first two that come to mind are Philo and Flavius Josephus. I think that you can get FREE e-Books from both of them at Project Gutenberg. http://www.gutenberg.net/ This is at least an idea that won't cost you any money. If I understand you correctly, you really need and want LOST writers who were not Jewish or Christian. The pagan masses weren't known for education and writing books, so the search might be interesting. I hope this helps a little bit. Love In Christ, Tom Psalms 111:3 NASB Splendid and majestic is His work, And His righteousness endures forever. Welcome to Christians Unite. There are a number of threads here that can give you the information that you are asking for. Here are a few of them. http://forums.christiansunite.com/index.php?topic=10998.0 http://forums.christiansunite.com/index.php?topic=9882.0 http://forums.christiansunite.com/index.php?topic=9881.0 Much of the evidence in these threads are proving that the Bible is in fact true and what better evidence is there than actual eye witnesses. The Bible is an account by eye witnesses. Title: Re: Questions in the Christian faith Post by: Shammu on May 30, 2006, 09:36:22 PM Hello ED500, and welcome to Christians Unite. I see blackeyedpeas and Pastor Roger have already answered your question.

Ditto, what I would have said has already been said. Title: Re: Questions in the Christian faith Post by: Brother Jerry on June 01, 2006, 05:44:04 PM Above are some great answers.
If you are looking to spend some money (and a soul is always worth some investment) I would recommend a couple of books Josh McDowell "The New Evidence" Lee Strobel "Case for Christ", "Case for a Creator" Or pretty much anything by either of those two. They deal with facts and generally do not delve into Biblical references. "The New Evidence" can be a harder read since it is laid out like a text book but it is packed with tons of fact based information. And most of all pray. I know that I will add your wife to our prayer list. Hope it helps Sincerely Brother Jerry |
