Title: I'm back
Post by: Jemidon2004 on May 22, 2006, 12:09:34 PM
hey guys!! It's Joshua again and I'm back. it's been a while. I've had aALOT going on in my life. I finished up one semester iin college. I have since gotten me a job and am financially stable. Due to some differences in opinions, my parents and I have parted ways and I'm now on my own, but I have a fiance who loves me and is helping me. I have my own place now and i'll be living there for a while. Due to the costs of finances in college, i.e. tuition costs, i'm going to put my education off for a few years and join the Marine Corps. Yes, you heard me right, i'm joining the Marine Corps. I feel a ministry opportunity there like no other. So that's where i'm headed in September. I've been engaged about a month now, and it gets sweeter and sweeter as each day goes on. :) Anyways, there's your update for today. Hope all of ya'll are doing well.

Dominus Vobiscum,
Joshua

Hi brother, it's great to see you again. I am also praying for this situation with you and your parents.

Congratulations on the engagement and the Marine enlistment. I'm sorry that your education had to be put on the back burner for now though. My prayers will stay with you.

Sister Maria,

Didn't you know that there is no such thing as a former Marine?  ;) ;D  A retired Marine perhaps but never a former one. (Once a Marine always a Marine. )   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Lol, thanks for the comments guys and the warm welcome. Hope's Daughter: I appreciate the concernt. The parting of ways is simply that I am now out on my own and having to stand on my own two feet. It simply means that I'm having to take responsibilty for my own actions and I can't run home to mommy and daddy when things get tough. They have released me to the world as far as standing on my own two feet are concerned. I have to worry about my own finances, bills, plans and all that now. It's a curse and a blessing, but no, my parents havn't parted ways COMPLETELY...which i think is a good thing. Just wanted to clarify. i should have clarified earlier, but I was at work and was being called on an assignment. I appreciate ANY welcome, and even if you're new to the site hopes_daughter, I want to wish you the best as you post on this site as well. As a brother and hopefully as a friend :). NowAirIamtoworship...the wedding date is set to September 2nd :).

I'll add about the cursing and blessing part: the cursing is that it's not like it was when i was under my parent's wings and they provided, the blessing is NOW I get the pride and joy of providing for myself and providing for my fiance and those that I love dearly....just thought i'd add that.

Coram Deo,
Joshua

See, what did I tell you? These people know you. I don't know you. I am not even sure if I should welcome you the site. There are no welcoming rules around here. I don't even know if it is right that I tell you 'welcome'. What kind of authority do I have here, Jemidon? I am one of the little people I think I will just stop giving the new comers a "Hi" post in this "Hi" section of the forum and if I see them out in the forum somewhere other than here,(their posts that is), then I will say hello because this is far too confusing for me.

God bless.

I guess I will see your posts out on the boards. Bye.

DUDE!!! Welcome Back!!!  Yah.  I know.  I'm not around much either... ;D  But welcome back anyways!  Listen Bro, I just wanted to say that while formal education is best and, in many ways, most beneficial, don't get locked into it.  I've said before and I'll say it again, we reflect those under whose tutelage we sit.  While it's not necessarily a bad thing to reflect some of the men that mentor us, it's far better to reflect Christ as we learn from Him day by day, and in every setting, classroom or otherwise.

One of most learned pastors I've ever known showed me several notebooks he had on his shelf along side of his commentaries once.  They were filled with lessons God had taught him through specific life settings.  Some reflected creation.  Others trials and testings.  Others family life.  Regardless, each was a diary of God being God in his life no matter where he was in his life.  For a pastor, with an M-Div, future doctorate, and more knowledge of language, hermenuetic, homoletic, scripture and general life app for the whole kit-n-kaboodle, to have something like that taught me a very valuable lesson.  Classrooms are great.  But God doesn't need them to teach you about Himself.  Use them when He offers them.  Learn from Him where ever you find yourself.   :)

I'll be prayin' for ya Bro as you make your decisions!

His,

Kevin (a.k.a. Allinall)

P.S.  Congrats on the girl!  Ok.  We've all put our pics up on this board.  So where's your's and your sweeties?  Hmmmmmmmmmm?  Engagement pics man!  Share!  I'll be prayin' for your future too.  ;) :)

Hello Brother Joshua,

I know that I welcomed you back in another thread, but I'll WELCOME!! you back again. AND, I didn't read this thread yet.

WOW! - You have big things going on in your life. I still pray for you every day like many others here, and we will continue.

I don't know how many congratulations are in order, so I'll say it only once:

Congratulations!

You've also made some big decisions, and I pray that GOD will richly bless you in all of them. Brother, for the future, I hope that you don't mind if I pray that GOD gives you peace with your parents.

For now, I want to ask you to start running long distances and doing plenty of push-ups. You don't want to start out on the wrong side of the Drill Sergeants.  ;D

Time flies - it might take me some time to adjust to the fact that you are grown and out on your own. I applaud your decision to serve a tour in the Marine Corp, as I applaud all young adults who want to start out by serving their country. My son served in the Navy for 6 years and got out about 8 months ago. He says it was the best decision he ever made. I must agree and say that I'm proud of him. I pray for our finest serving in the Armed Forces at least once every day.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Titus 2:11-14 NASB  For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

Amen Brother Tom, I am convinced that drill seargents take a special cousre on how to be mean to their enlisted men.

Brother Josh, among the nicest things they'll do for you is yell at ya , call you names and hit you on the forehead with the rim of their hats (in military tems i guess they call them covers, covers their bad haircuts  ;D ;D)

I guess that's why at the end they are only a FEW good men   :D :D :D :D

Brother, my husband is a RETIRED Marine, every now and then I have to remind him he's at home not drilling his troops at a boot camp  ::) ::) ::) ::) :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

heh, it doesn't bother me people yelling at me, just as long as their directions are clear and concise, i have no problem obeying. I learned that working here in an IT field. If the directions are clear, and concise, the job can get done and I'll do it to the best of my ability. I know about covers and the D.I. I know they hate to be called Drill Sergeant, but instead Drill Instructor. Also, referring to myself in the third person will help too. I have a cousin in the navy, so he's letting me know where not to mess up. I try to store my own boots, but I know my fiance, and she'll be the one trying to take them off before I get in the door to stow them away. She has OCD tendencies when it comes to cleaning...so I'll have to make sure I'll let her know if i'm going back out so she'll leave them out. LOL. Can't beat that service. About the crash and all that, i just got Linux and XP dual booted onto my PC, so i'm looking around at linux. cause I have a feeling that the Govt. is delving into Linux and unix based apps. Anywayz, back tow ork cause we got another pc crashing on us. See ya.

Coram Deo,
Joshua
