due to cercomestances beyone MY controle (but not God's ;D) I will not be employed  in the military very long. I have asthma and will be discharged. What I feel I am supposed to do is open my own shop. I can not escape the placement of this oppertunity that has yet again been given to me. I really feel that God has laid this on my heart to do. My community is ready for a renewal of it's industry base and the market is starving for the services I would provide. Over that last 5 years I have had repeated oppertunites dropped into my lap and acted on them quite conservatively since I am emploed and there are only so many hours in the day.

So again I feel the Lord has dropped the chance to act into my lap.

Anyone out there a business owner?

Can you give me any pointers on start up?

If anyone is involved in machining that would be willing to mentor an upstart fellow believer?

I am doing my best to rely on God through the uncertanty, but admit there is alot of times I am terrified. I know I have to press on and put my faith in Him.

Thought I would seek out a little guidance.

It is hard to start a business, these days I never tried to start one so I don't know what kind of advice to give you. However, you should take it to God in prayer, He is the only one with all the answers. Remeber as King David said

 Ps 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Thank you for the welcome. I have viseted this site a few times over the last year, posted very seldom.

I pray often (although I sometimes feel I don't pray enough :-[) especially when I am afraid.

It is scarry to get into a venture with no assurances.

God gave me abilities and I feel He wants me to use them. I should not have fear in what God has provided me. I am working hard to trust in Him and take this step on faith.............

The lenders and investors want paper, not faith. My fear is based in this. Although the worst thing that could happen is they say no. ;D

The success or failior of anything is directly influanced by God's will. not mine. If it is to succeed then by His will......it will.

If not........He wants me elsewhere.

I believe that when He said He would give us our hearts desire if we serve Him, then He will. By serveing Him my heart has turned for selfishness to one of praise. I want only to glorify Him. If my heart is fixed on Him then His blessing surely follow ;D

Running your own business takes a lot of time and hard work. It is never a 9 to 5 job. The only thing that I can suggest that is of help is to insure that you take some business courses or to hire in some one that has the strengths in areas where you have any weaknesses.

I have arrainged for some outside assistance on certain things. Like accounting. However he looked over what I have done so far and had no real concerns.

Wait untill start up and the first month is a big fat red number.........alot of down payments to make that month and there is almost never alot comeing in.
