Title: School board votes to allow Bibles to be handed out Post by: Soldier4Christ on April 05, 2006, 09:06:45 AM WILMINGTON, N.C. The Brunswick County school board has voted to allow Bibles and other religious material to be given out in high schools on a limited basis.
Under the plan, approved on a 3-2 vote, people of all faiths would be able to set out literature in designated places outside classrooms or assemblies one day a year. Books and literature that defames a person's faith, race or ethnicity would be banned. And, school system employees would not participate. The policy requires a second vote to be approved. The American Civil Liberties Union and the Freedom From Religion Foundation has been scrutinizing the policy. |
