Title: Oklahoma gas prices rise seven cents in ten days Post by: Soldier4Christ on March 03, 2006, 07:43:33 PM OKLAHOMA CITY The price of a gallon of gas in Oklahoma is up by seven cents in the past ten days.
Triple-A Oklahoma says the average statewide is two-15 per gallon. The average is just above two-14 per gallon in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Triple-A spokesman Chuck Mai (MAY) says threats to oilfields in Nigeria and uncertainty over how the U-N will deal with Iran over nuclear weapons is driving up the cost of crude oil. The national average is about two-26 per gallon and the most expensive gas is in Hawaii at two-70-a-gallon. The Oklahoma average is the sixth-lowest in the nation. The cheapest gas is in New Jersey and South Carolina at about two-oh-nine per gallon. _______________________________ Prices just jumped by 30 cents a gallon today here in Illinois to $2.49. It's not because oil supplies are short - in fact crude reserves are above last years levels. Uncertainty about Iran and Nigeria is driving prices up. "Data Wednesday from the U.S. Department of Energy showed domestic petroleum inventories are well above average levels for this time of year. But traders remain concerned about threats to oil facilities from Nigerian militants, Iran's nuclear ambitions and terrorist strikes on oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia." ABC News. |
