Title: New here Post by: Mockingbird on March 01, 2006, 11:58:00 AM Hello, everyone. =-) I'm calling in from Denver, Colorado.
One thing about me is I have cystic fibrosis, (anyone who doesn't know what that is go here: www.cff.org (http://www.cff.org) or you can ask me questions; either way) Living with a terminal illness can be a great impediment to faith, as I have seen with many others, but it can also be a great help as well. Like Paul said in 2 Corinthians 1:8-10: "We do not want you uninformed about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentance of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in the prayers of many." I like to equate myself to this verse because it takes the focus off of me and back on God. I dislike when people say I am strong to be living with an illness, or that I have great faith or whatever else. As humans we are all alike, and we are all capable of strength or faith or whatever else because they come from God, not oursleves. =-) In my own experience, it is often detrimental to tell someone they are strong or have great faith, because i know that led me to pride and the belief that i had been able to overcome many things without God's help. Anyway, enough serious stuff. =-) I look forward to meeting all of you and learning many new things. =-) Oh, and my real name is Jarod, in case anyone wanted to know. =-) Title: Re: New here Post by: nChrist on March 01, 2006, 01:46:04 PM Hello Mockingbird,

It is wonderful that God is merciful to us and helps us through these tough times.

"die to yourself" as it is written. We arent here for us, we're here for Him and to glorify and expand the kingdom of God. I think we all have something that handicaps us in some way or another. For me, I suffer from panic/anxiety disorder, everyday. It sure does test my faith,...I ask at times "why me?" but then I read scripture like you do and I remember and God gently reminds me. Everything is for His good. God makes good out of everything, can you think of something good that has come out of your SF? Or maybe you havent realized what it is yet? Counseling to other sufferers, or maybe couseling to any physically handicapped person? I know that my sufferings have made my faith stronger by making me depend on Him, and then testifying to others about it, how God has seen me through. It's a very powerful way to testify.
God Bless and Welcome, by the way I'm new here too. :) Title: Re: New here Post by: shez on March 16, 2006, 05:29:25 AM Hi Jarod
I am a newbie to this forum, but I have been born again for about 11years. In my walk I have know many people with different physical things going on. I have seen many healed, thought the scripture and thought hands on healing. But I think the deepest healing anyone could imagine is knowing that God walk with you everyday and that He loves in a way not an earthly person could. So continue to read the scripture for there meaning to you personally, we are all newbie don't you think, Jesus said, "you have to be like a child". Children have no fear, they trust, they are innocent. Out of the mouth of babies comes true. I am here if you want to talk. I've been wandering through your site and enjoying it! :D My favorite "trials" Scripture is: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." Daniel 3 |
