Title: Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW ?? Post by: nChrist on February 08, 2006, 10:04:24 AM Hello Sister Maria,
WOW! - You ask hard questions! :D (Small Print: Especially when you are asking grandpas). I have posted something on that, but I think that it was in a limited category (i.e. Salvation). There would be many promises throughout the Bible in a variety of categories. I don't know if anyone has tried the new search engine on the new forum software, but I guess that now would be a good time to try it. What I don't know is whether or not older messages are indexed for search or not. Let's try it. I'll get back with you in a little bit. Love In Christ, Tom Proverbs 24:19-20 NASB Do not fret because of evildoers Or be envious of the wicked; For there will be no future for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked will be put out. Post by: nChrist on February 08, 2006, 10:17:31 AM Hello Sister Maria,
I'm really glad that you asked this question. The new search engine is GREAT!! Just type in "promises" in the search box near the top of the page - right over the "Home" button. You don't even need to try the advanced search. I got 4 solid pages of messages with sample text for each of them. I didn't see anything that looked like a Summary of all the Promises of God, but you might get close by copying portions of what you need from the posts that look the best. The new search engine is 10 times better than the old one, and all of the messages on the forum are indexed. IT'S GREAT!!! AND EASY!!! I'll also look on my hard drive for something regarding Promises of God, but I'm almost sure that the ones I posted about related to Salvation. Love In Christ, Tom Psalms 18:2 NASB The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Quote a) How Many Promises in the Bible? The Holy Scriptures contains a grand total of 8,810 promises. There are 7,487 promises from God to man (about 85 percent of all the Bible’s promises). Post by: Soldier4Christ on February 15, 2006, 01:31:37 AM The Cherethite were Philistine soldiers who served loyally in David’s army.
The Cherethites were “a people who were settled alongside the Philistines in southern Palestine [see 1 Samuel 30:14; Ezekiel 25:16; Zephaniah 2:5]. In the reign of David they formed, with the Pelethites, his private bodyguard under the command of Benaiah the son of Jehoida [see 2 Samuel 8:18; 20:23; 1 Chronicles 18:17]. They remained loyal to him through the rebellions of Absalom [see 2 Samuel 15:18] and Sheba [see 2 Samuel 20:7], and were present when Solomon was anointed for kingship [see 1 Kings 1:38, 44].” (J. D. Douglas, ed., The New Bible Dictionary, s.v. “Cherethites.”) So this shows us that they were bodyguards not assassins. Title: Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW ?? Post by: Soldier4Christ on February 15, 2006, 10:17:24 AM PR I beg to differ, Mattias was chosen by lots to replace Judas Iscariot, It wasn't iuntil after the persecution of Christians by Saul of Tarsus, that Jesus blinded Saul and Saul then believed and his name was changed to Paul. But the one chosen to replace Judas was Matthias Ac 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. You misunderstood my post, perhaps because I wasn't clear. Yes Matthias was the one to replace Judas, but Paul was added as a disciple later. I did not mention the word Apostle, I said disciple. And I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of Jehovah. 30 pieces (Matt. 27:3-10). According to Exodus 21:32, thirty shekels of silver was the price of a male slave in Old Testament times. During Jesus' time, it was equivalent to four months' wages for a common laborer. Attempted Bribery .............. Acts 8:9-25 9 But there was a man named Simon, who had formerly practiced magic arts in the city to the utter amazement of the Samaritan nation, claiming that he himself was an extraordinary and distinguished person. 10 They all paid earnest attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is that exhibition of the power of God which is called great (intense). 11 And they were attentive and made much of him, because for a long time he had amazed and bewildered and dazzled them with his skill in magic arts. 12 But when they believed the good news (the Gospel) about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) as Philip preached it, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Even Simon himself believed [he adhered to, trusted in, and relied on the teaching of Philip], and after being baptized, devoted himself constantly to him. And seeing signs and miracles of great power which were being performed, he was utterly amazed. 14 Now when the apostles (special messengers) at Jerusalem heard that [the country of] Samaria had accepted and welcomed the Word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 And they came down and prayed for them that the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit; 16 For He had not yet fallen upon any of them, but they had only been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then [the apostles] laid their hands on them one by one, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 However, when Simon saw that the [Holy] Spirit was imparted through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he brought money and offered it to them, 19 Saying, Grant me also this power and authority, in order that anyone on whom I place my hands may receive the Holy Spirit. 20 But Peter said to him, Destruction overtake your money and you, because you imagined you could obtain the [free] gift of God with money! 21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is all wrong in God's sight [it is not straightforward or right or true before God]. 22 So repent of this depravity and wickedness of yours and pray to the Lord that, if possible, this [a]contriving thought and purpose of your heart may be removed and disregarded and forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in a bond forged by iniquity [to fetter souls]. 24 And Simon answered, Pray for me [beseech the Lord, both of you], that nothing of what you have said may befall me! 25 Now when [the apostles] had borne their testimony and preached the message of the Lord, they went back to Jerusalem, proclaiming the glad tidings (Gospel) to many villages of the Samaritans [on the way].The suspect, a well-known sorcerer, resorted to bribery in an attempt to gain the power to lay hands on people and have them receive the Holy Spirit. And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day. Title: Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW ?? Title: Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW ?? Post by: airIam2worship on June 01, 2006, 01:32:10 AM Okay, your turn, the place was named Kibroth-hattaavah. ("graves of lust".) Num_11:34; Num_33:17. At Erweis el Ebeirig near wady el Hudherah (Hazeroth) Israelite remains apparently are found, marking the site of Kibroth Hattaavah. (See WILDERNESS OF WANDERINGS.) Clark makes El Ain to be Kibroth Hattaavah. Laborde makes El Ain to be Hazeroth. The S.E. "wind from the Lord" from the neighbouring Elanitic gulf of the Red" Sea" bore quails so as to "throw them upon" (Hebrew Num_11:31) the encampment and its neighbourhood, "about two cubits above the face of the ground," i.e. not that they were piled up to that height, but the quails wearied with their flight flew so low as to be easily knocked down or caught by the people. The quail flies with the wind and low. The prodigious quantity and the supply of them at that time, in connection with Jehovah's moral dealings with Israel, constitute the miracle, which is in consonance with God's natural law though then intensified. The hot Khamsin or S.E. wind is what quails avail themselves of in their annual flight northwards; the S.W. wind was the extraordinary agent brought in "by the power of God" (Psa_78:26). As Jehovah told them (ver. 20), they ate "a whole month until it came out at their nostrils, and was loathsome" to them. The impossibility, to ordinary view, of such a meat supply for 600,000 men for a month long even to satiety ("He rained flesh upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea": Psa_78:27), staggered Moses' faith: "shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them?" (the proximity to the Red "Sea" suggested the "fish," ver. 31; compare Joh_6:7-9). We too often "limit the Holy One of Israel" (Psa_78:41-20-31). But "while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was consumed" (Speaker's Commentary for "chewed"), "the wrath of Jehovah smote the people with a very great plague." Feeding on quails for a whole month would of itself be injurious. God punished the gluttonous people through their gluttony which they had indulged in to surfeit; He aggravated the natural consequences into a supernatural visitation. God punishes murmurers by "giving them their request, but sending leanness into their soul" (Psa_106:15). The first supply of quails was on the 15th day of the second month after the Exodus (Exodus 16; Psa_105:40), just before the manna. The second was at Kibroth Hattaavah in the second year after the camp had removed from its 12 months' stay at Sinai. The Hebrew for "quail" is selaw, and the locality has several places named from it, wady es Selif the E. road, wady Soleif the road to the W. E. Wilton (Imperial Dictionary) fixes on an old cemetery in the wady Berah as Kibroth Hattaavah. Title: Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW ?? Post by: Shammu on June 01, 2006, 01:35:12 AM ("graves of lust".) They partook of their food with gladness and simplicity and generous hearts, Title: Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW ?? Post by: airIam2worship on June 01, 2006, 01:48:30 AM :'( :'(
