Title: My Imagination
Post by: TalkerCat on December 10, 2005, 07:39:17 PM
I have started reading anything I can get my hands on written by Max Lucado .... his work is geared toward the new christian and is very educational and inspirational.  I've been able to back up everything he says by reading the bible for myself.  He flavors his teaching with humor and personal experience, making for an interesting story.

Reading strictly christian literature (getting away from the Stephen King novels I used to hold so dear) has really helped me to grow as a christian. I also stay away from movies with graphic language or gratuitous sex (leaving me with Disney).  The only TV programs I watch now do not have suggestive plots (again, leaving me with Disney - or classic t.v. such as Leave It To Beaver) and I've replaced my old music cd's with christian music and praise songs.  I'm making every effort possible to keep sinful thoughts from passing through my mind.  Books, movies, and music cause images in one's mind and I want my images to be of Christ and my inheritance in heaven.

Blessings -

Sister Terri, there are so many great Christian books to choose from, I have well over 200 Christian books, on many, many subjects, but my all time favorite is God's Word, I read from it everyday. I was never one to read novels, or fiction books, nor do I like to watch TV a lot, but when I do, I watch TBN, Daystar, and TCC. Those are all Christian networks that really help you grow as a Christian. I also like to test my Bible knowledge by playing Bible trivia, when I get wrong answers then I go back to the Bible and read what I missed. :D
I have a few books by Max Lucado one is He Chose The Nails.
You might be interested in books by Joel Osteen, and Charles Stanley.

Hi Sister Terri,

That is an excellant idea. If we are to grow in our Christian faith it is important that we be very careful in what we read or watch. It is so easy to fall into the traps of the beliefs of different cults if we do not guard ourselves in this manner.
