32  Welcome / About You! / Re:Hi new Christian poetess...is that a real word on: November 09, 2005, 07:37:38 PM
Poetess is, in fact, a real word. I was surprised myself when I looked it up.

I would read all that, but I have this weird phobia of big, long, solid blocks of text.

Besides, from just skimming it I can say that I've heard it all before, disputed it all before, and probably almost gotten kicked off this board because of it all before (I have a short temper), so frankly, I don't think it's worth my time or effort. I'm sorry you wasted your's.

Fellowship with other Christians is essential for spiritual growth.

Yes, I WAS the one who said that.

BTW, nice graphic on your name.  I'm likin' it!   Cheesy
Thank you, Bronzesnake did the graphics. Okay now, naming just one time you've dropped a conversation in the middle of it, is easy. Cheesy The All-Out Allinall Thread Boosting Post Grin

Ok.  So that's one!  BTW, I stopped that one for two reasons:

1.  All y'all hijacked my thread and ended up with higher post ratings than me.  I'm bitter.   Cheesy Grin

2.  There's like 31 pages in it man!  I've got ADD!  I lose it after the second page!

Would the fact that I'm busy at work and live in a house full of estrogen be a good excuse?

Ok, I am definitely NOT a newbie. I've been here longer than a lot of people here.

Ok, I broke. I read it. I thought it had something to do with the sixth book, but it doesn't.

...I don't get it.
41  Entertainment / Books / Re:Harry Potter Reject Magic for Cross and Holy Water on: September 10, 2005, 02:40:36 AM
I can't read this yet...I have to read the new one first, and I'm almost finished with number three. I'm going through them all again...I just don't want the article to spoil anything in the new book. I'll comment later ^_^

Basically, what we did was focus on this place called Hsimen Ding; it's the youth epicenter in Taiwan. It's pretty much six square blocks of stores, all employed by kids between 15 and 23. We were just told to make friends with these kids and share Christ with them. It was so easy; they were all so willing to hear what we had to say, and in all I think about 15-20 people accepted Christ in the two weeks we were there.

The thing that sucks is that there are no churches there; at least, none that the kids would feel welcome in. We visited the only two C&MA (Christian and Missionary Alliance, the denomination I am a part of) churches close enough to be reasonable to visit once a week, and both of them were super-conservative, with a hellfire-and-damnation kind of approach. What's worse is that none of the churches in Taiwan (there are only 23 C&MA in the entire country; I don't know if there are any others) feel compelled to reach out to Hsimen Ding; in fact, most af them are afraid to. The place has a bad rep. Not a very popular or respected place in Taiwan.

So the kids we witnessed to need prayer, badly. We were the last group to visit this year, so many of them are going to have a tough time keeping up with their faith. Right now we're doing a Paul-type ministry, keeping in touch through e-mail and such.

All in all, though, it was the most amazing and profound experience of my life.

Hmm...I might just put this in the "Prayer Requests" forum. They need it.

I've been lurking recently. Not a lot has really intrigued me. It's been slow here for the last few months.

My graphic contains a quote from a song. It doesn't really mean anything, I just like it. Actually, it's from a song by a Christian group called Sunny Day Real Estate.

But whatever.

I just got back from a mission trip to Taiwan with my youth group. It was a blast.  Wink

Technically, it is one additional thread, so it did boost our thread count by one.

Hmm...this looks like familiar territory...I think we've done this before.
