Strange that Paul does not share your views of law keeping.
Paul said: "For I delight in the LAW OF GOD....after the inward man", (Romans 7:22).
And again..... "Do we (Christians) then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we (Christians ?) establish the law", (Romans 3:31).
Quote
He called his perfection of lawkeeping dung that he might win Christ as his righteousness.   I think a few thumbs up are in order for brother Paul.
Was it not Paul who said: "Wherefore the law [is] holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good", (Romans 7:12).

So, you are trying to tell me that Paul can't make up his mind ?
Or, that Paul contradicts himself ?

I personally, know what Paul is saying there.

The Law of Moses was abolished !

BUT...God's 10 commandments are with us to this day(Matthew 5:17,18), as they were given on Mt. Sinai.

Once again, leaving out the entire context as usual.

Rom 7:16  If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17  Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19  For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21  I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22  For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Keep claiming it is through law keeping friend.....the only way is through Christ Jesus, the true Sabbath!

Grace and Peace!

FALSE TEACHING!

Jesus said: "IF...you love me, keep my commandments", (John 14:15).
Only the people who 'love' Christ, will keep all 10 commandments.

BigD responds:
I wonder how many SDA's break the Sabbath Day travel Laws to attend their church on Saturday? Or isn't that an "UNpardonable sin?"

Where in the 4th commandment, does it say, anything about traveling to church meetings, as being a sin ?

Exodus 20:8   "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy".

20:9   Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

20:10   But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
20:11   For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it".

SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH

Origin, beliefs, practices, etc.

Church Controversies:

The role of women: In common with many conservative Christian churches, the question of ordination of women is actively debated within the SDA church. The special role of the SDA founder, Ellen White, is proof that women are able to contribute to church life. However, although they have been allowed to be ordained as elders for many years, none are eligible as pastors. This decision was based largely on the text of 1 Corinthians 14:34-37 when St. Paul presented as a command of God that women should keep quiet in church, and remain subordinate. In 1 Timothy 2:12A, he said that no woman was to teach or have authority over a man; she is to remain silent. As in other denominations, the debate concentrates on whether:  These were commands for the first century church, or for all eras
These were commands for the Mediterranean region, or for all cultures.
Whether these passages were written by St. Paul or were forgeries written by others and attributed to Paul.

The North American Division (NAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church proposed to the 1995 General Conference in Utrecht, Netherlands that each World Division be allowed to decide independently whether to ordain women to the pastorate. The proposal was defeated by a vote of 1481 to 673. A few NAD congregations went ahead and ordained women pastors in spite of the decision.

Homosexuality: The church's stand is that the Bible consistently condemns homosexuality as a sin. Gay candidates are not permitted to be ordained as pastors.
Seventh-day Adventist Kinship International is an organization "devoted to the spiritual, emotional, social and physical well-being of current and former Seventh-day Adventists who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered." Their group is completely independent of the SDA church. It was founded in 1976 and has over 1000 members: gays, lesbians, their parents, friends and supporters. They believe that:

God loves and accepts gays and lesbians as they are.
The Bible does not "condemn, or even mention homosexuality as a sexual orientation."
Ellen White's writings do not "parallel any of the Bible Texts which are often used to condemn homosexuals."
 sexual orientation is unchangeable.

In 1987 the Seventh-day Adventist Church filed legal action in a federal district court in California, in an attempt to stop SDA Kinship International from using  "Seventh-day Adventist" in their name. The church lost their lawsuit, which was never appealed.

Cult Status: Several prominent theologians, including ex-members of the Seventh-day Adventists, have stated in the past that the SDA church is a cult. In doing this, they do not imply that the church is a mind control cult or a doomsday cult, but simply that some of their beliefs deviate from those of traditional, conservative Christianity. Some attackers have quoted isolated writings of some members of the church and incorrectly asserted that the thoughts represented official church doctrine. Some of the criticisms include:  That the writings of Mrs. White are considered on a par with those of the Bible: inspired by God and infallible.
That the SDA church bases some of its doctrine on the writings of Mrs. White.
That the atonement of Christ was not finished at crucifixion.

None of the above criticisms are valid. Most Christians and Christian organizations now regard the Seventh Day Adventist church simply as a non-cultic denomination with some unique beliefs.

WOW !
You went to a lot of trouble to put certain people in their place.
But, Satan will still use his agents, to fight those Christains who follow God, in both the keeping of the 10 commandments, and well as having the faith of Jesus, (Revelation 14:12).

Some people will never accept the truth....no matter how overwhelming the evidence !

But thanks for trying...and hopfully, the truth will be accepted by them, before Judgment Day.

FALSE TEACHING!

I wonder just how many people really understand what the unpardonable sin is ?

No one need look upon the sin against the Holy Ghost as something mysterious and indefinable. The sin against the Holy Ghost is the sin of persistent refusal to respond to the invitation to repent....of 'any sin' ...that God has revealed to a person.
Acts 7:51   "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers [did], so [do] ye".

Even breaking the 4th commandment (the 7th day Sabbath) could be the UNpardonable sin, if....God has revealed the truth to you, and you refuse to obey Him.
53  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Are You Loyal to God ? on: October 16, 2004, 03:01:34 PM
FALSE TEACHING!

"And the dragon (Satan) was wroth (ANGRY !) with the woman (Church), and went to [make war] with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ", (Revelation 12:17).
"Those who endeavor to obey [all] the commandments of God (Exodus 20:3-17) will be opposed and derided.

They can stand only in God. In order to endure the trial before them, they must understand the will of God as revealed in His word; they can honor Him only as they have a right conception of His character, government, and purposes, and act in accordance with them. None but those who have fortified the mind with the truths of the Bible will stand through the last great
conflict.
[/b]To every soul will come the searching test: Shall I obey God rather than men?

The decisive hour is even now at hand. Are our feet planted on the rock of God's immutable word?

Are we prepared to stand firm in defense of the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus ?" (Great Controversy, By E.G. White).

FALSE TEACHING!

Now see below how you scored on the test

Explanation

If you picked one or more of the above items, you failed the test. Don't feel badly though, most people do fail. Most are to some degree"religious", but religions are nothing more than man-made attempts to reach God.

The real answer of how to get to Heaven is not found in some religious system or by man's self-righteousness. God has declared that "there is none righteous, no not one" (Romans 3:10). "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"(Romans 3:23).

Further, God's Word teaches that sin is a very serious matter. II Thessalonians 1:9 tells of "everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord."

What can you do about your sin problem ? Can you clean up your life, do good works and hope that in the end your good works will outweigh your bad works ? NO! Salvation does not come to those who work for it, but to those who cease from their own works, placing their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 4:5 makes that point abundantly clear: "To him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. "In Ephesians 2:8 & 9, it is declared, "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast."

The issue is not what you can do for God, but what He has done for you. "But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:Cool. "He hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (II Corinthians 5:21). You have no righteousness of your own. To have eternal life you must have the righteousness of Christ (see Romans 3:26).

What then is your responsibility? God has given you a free will to either accept or reject what He has done for you. To have God's righteousness, you must believe that "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried; and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:3, 4).
Your response to the gospel should be as we read of the Ephesians: "In Whom (the Lord Jesus Christ) ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise" (Ephesians 1:13). This seal is a guarantee that your salvation is eternal--you can never lose it (see Ephesians 1:14, 4:30, IICorinthians 1:22).

"Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)

Actually...it is the combination of accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your saviour, which He alone, gives the converted person, the power (grace) to keep all 10 commandments ....which results in gaining eternal life in heaven.

Missing one, or the other results in eternal death...for all eternity !

56  Prayer / General Discussion / Halloween, Celebrates Satan's 1st Lie on: October 09, 2004, 10:51:20 AM
With the earliest history of man, Satan began his efforts to deceive our race. He who had incited rebellion in Heaven desired to bring the inhabitants of the earth to unite with him in his warfare against the government of God. Adam and Even had been perfectly happy in obedience to the law of God, and this fact was a constant testimony against the claim which Satan had urged in Heaven, that God's law was oppressive, and opposed to the good of his creatures. And, furthermore, Satan's envy was excited as he looked upon the beautiful home prepared for the sinless pair. He determined to cause their fall, that, having separated them from God, and brought them under his own power, he might gain possession of the earth, and here establish his kingdom, in opposition to the Most High.

Had Satan revealed himself in his real character, he would have been repulsed at once, for Adam and Eve had been warned against this dangerous foe; but he worked in the dark, concealing his purpose, that he might more effectually accomplish his object. Employing as his medium the serpent, then a creature of fascinating appearance, he addressed himself to Eve, "Hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" [GEN. 3:1.] Had Eve refrained from entering into argument with the tempter, she would have been safe; but she ventured to parley with him, and fell a victim to his wiles. It is thus that many are still overcome. They doubt and argue concerning the requirements of God, and instead of obeying the divine commands, they accept human theories, which but disguise the devices of Satan.

"The woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die; for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." [GEN. 3:2-5.] He declared that they would become like God, possessing greater wisdom than before, and being capable of a higher state of existence. Eve yielded to temptation; and through her influence, Adam was led into sin. They accepted the words of the serpent, that God did not mean what he said; they distrusted their Creator, and imagined that he was restricting their liberty, and that they might obtain great wisdom and exaltation by transgressing his law.
But what did Adam, after his sin, find to be the meaning of the words, "In the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die"? Did he find them to mean, as Satan had led him to believe, that he was to be ushered into a more exalted state of existence? Then indeed there was great good to be gained by transgression, and Satan was proved to be a benefactor of the race. But Adam did not find this to be the meaning of the divine sentence. God declared that as a penalty for his sin, man should return to the ground whence he was taken: "Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return." [GEN. 3:19.] The words of Satan, "Your eyes shall be opened," proved to be true in this sense only: After Adam and Eve had disobeyed God, their eyes were opened to discern their folly; they did know evil, and they tasted the bitter fruit of transgression.

In the midst of Eden grew the tree of life, whose fruit had the power of perpetuating life. Had Adam remained obedient to God, he would have continued to enjoy free access to this tree, and would have lived forever. But when he sinned, he was cut off from partaking of the tree of life (Genesis 3:22-24), and he became subject to death. The divine sentence, "Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return," points to the utter extinction of life.

Immortality, promised to man on condition of obedience, had been forfeited by transgression.

Adam could not transmit to his posterity that which he did not possess; and there could have been no hope for the fallen race, had not God, by the sacrifice of his Son, brought immortality within their reach. While "death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned," Christ "hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." [ROM. 5:12; 2 TIM. 1:10.] And only through Christ can immortality be obtained. Said Jesus, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life." [JOHN 3:36.] Every man may come in possession of this priceless blessing if he will comply with the conditions. All "who by patient continuance in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality," will receive eternal life. [ROM. 2:7.]

The only one who promised Adam life in disobedience was the great deceiver. And the declaration of the serpent to Eve in Eden,--"Ye shall not surely die,"--was the first sermon ever preached upon the immortality of the soul.
57  Prayer / General Discussion / To the Glory of God on: October 06, 2004, 10:32:03 PM
Only one lease of life is granted us; and the inquiry with every one should be, "How can I invest my powers so that they may yield the greatest profit? How can I do most for the glory of God and the benefit of my fellow men?" For life is valuable only as it is used for the attainment of these ends.

Our first duty toward God and our fellow beings is that of self-development. Every faculty with which the Creator has endowed us should be cultivated to the highest degree of perfection, that we may be able to do the greatest amount of good of which we are capable. Hence that time is spent to good account which is used in the establishment and preservation of physical and mental health. We cannot afford to dwarf or cripple any function of body or mind. As surely as we do this, we must suffer the consequences.

               Choice of Life or Death

Every man has the opportunity, to a great extent, of making himself whatever he chooses to be. The blessings of this life, and also of the immortal state, are within his reach. He may build up a character of solid worth, gaining new strength at every step. He may advance daily in knowledge and wisdom, conscious of new delights as he progresses, adding virtue to virtue, grace to grace. His faculties will improve by use; the more wisdom he gains, the greater will be his capacity for acquiring. His intelligence, knowledge, and virtue will thus develop into greater strength and more perfect symmetry.

On the other hand, he may allow his powers to rust out for want of use, or to be perverted through evil habits, lack of self-control, or moral and religious stamina. His course then tends downward; he is disobedient to the law of God and to the laws of health. Appetite conquers him; inclination carries him away. It is easier for him to allow the powers of evil, which are always active, to drag him backward, than to struggle against them, and go forward. Dissipation, disease, and death follow. This is the history of many lives that might have been useful in the cause of God and humanity.

                    Seek for Perfection

God desires us to reach the standard of perfection made possible for us by the gift of Christ. He calls upon us to make our choice on the right side, to connect with heavenly agencies, to adopt principles that will restore in us the divine image. In His written word and in the great book of nature He has revealed the principles of life. It is our work to obtain a knowledge of these principles, and by obedience to cooperate with Him in restoring health to the body as well as to the soul.
58  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:What Happened 'BEFORE' Genesis 1:1 ? on: October 04, 2004, 10:12:12 PM
A little bit of a tricky question, because our understanding of something "happening" is entirely related to Time. Its a point in history, or a day to look forward to, in the confines of past, present and future. God has never been restrained by Time, and since He is the same always and everlasting (beyond Time), He was still God, full and complete, before the account of Genesis began. Maybe He was what was "happening"?
Actually, I was trying to bring out the history of the fall of Satan...then Lucifer, in heaven.

Silver Surfer,

Jesus Christ unlocked the door to your prison cell. All you have to do is realize the door is unlocked and come out.

Love In Christ,
Tom
"Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
119:166   LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments".  (Psalms 119:165).
But without, Grace you don't have salvation SS. Salvation is the only way to the Father. I have my salvation, I follow the laws as best as I can. Even Jesus knows not everyone can follow the laws 100%.
"Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus", (Revelation 14:12)
