31  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Reverse Speech on: January 09, 2004, 11:39:07 AM
For years I've read books on demonology, the occult, the paranormal, devil-worshipping cults, sects and individuals, and have often spoken directly to the demons in people etc,and its all been a fascinating educational experience because i can now see how satan and his flunkies operate all the clearer.
There's a saying in warfare:-"Know the enemy" so that you'll be able to defeat him all the easier!
I certainly feel strong and confident for knowing the satanic enemy's modus operandii. Never did i get my fingers burnt, for the simple reason I regard satan and his followers as nothing more than pathetic mickey-mouse halfwits who are already beaten but are too dim to know it!
Such people are to be pitied and laughed at,not feared! For example a witch who had invaded a christian chatroom threatened to invoke some Egyptian god called Sekhmet to get me. "Okay just let me know when he's coming and i'll put the kettle on for him" I replied! (That was months ago and he still hasn't come)
32  Theology / Apologetics / Re:No truth "out there"! on: January 09, 2004, 11:10:30 AM
Yes its human nature to want to explore by looking "out there",my only gripe is the enormous amount of cash it requires that could be better spent on earth.
A famous French painter (sorry i forget his name) said "There is as much beauty in your own garden as in the whole world"
Hear hear! - gardens are miraculous universes in themselves teeming with miracles of insect and plant life that can keep us endlessly awestruck by contemplating their wonders.
What a difference to that sterile grey ball of useless dust called the Moon, where billions of dollars were poured into manned missions of exploration!

33  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Versions of the 23rd Psalm first line on: January 09, 2004, 10:46:58 AM
No big deal,I presented the comparisons just for interests sake, not to try to show any versions superiority.
The fact is,although the KJV's fearlessness makes it my favourite,I do also look at other versions now and again just to get an interesting new angle on a particular verse or passage:)
34  Theology / Apologetics / Versions of the 23rd Psalm first line on: January 08, 2004, 08:22:33 PM
Hardly an exhaustive study of different versions, this brief summary of how various Bible translations present the first line of the 23rd Psalm is of some interest:-

"The Lord is my shepherd,I shall not want"  (King James/New American Standard Bible/English Standard Version/New King James/21st-Century King James)

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want" (New Intnl Version/New Intnl Version-UK)

"God, my shepherd! I don't need a thing" (The Message)

"The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack" (Amplified Bible)

"The Lord is my shepherd;I have everything I need" (New Living Translation)

"The Lord is my Shepherd. I will have everything I need" (New Life Version)

"You, Lord, are my shepherd.I will never be in need" (Contemporary English Version)

"Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want" (American Standard Version/Darby Translation)

"Jehovah [is] my shepherd, I do not lack" (Youngs Literal Translation)

Thank you Petro, and as a postcript to my post let me just add that the two recent multi-million dollar Martian probes seem to me nothing more than materialistic mankinds somewhat pathetic attempts to seek the "truth".
The British probe hit Mars on Christmas day and hasn't been heard from since, then the American probe landed and sent back useless pictures of a barren red boulder-strewn desert, prompting lots of gleeful backslapping, beaming smiles,champagne-and-cigar celebrations at mission control!
Yup it's a crazy world alright,and I don't mean Mars!
36  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Charity on: January 07, 2004, 08:12:51 PM
Saddam Hussein was a tyrant and mass-murderer,yet when I saw him on TV after his capture looking dishevelled and worn out,I felt sorry for him.
Perhaps I'm just too soft,I dunno.Did anybody else feel sorry for him or am i the only one?
37  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Disbelief Examples? on: January 07, 2004, 08:04:53 PM
I sometimes look at PC "Occult/Pagan/Mysticism-type message boards out of curiosity and am struck by how the regulars all seem to enjoy clustering together in their unbelief and saying hello to each other with sugary expressions like "Love and light to you Derek xxx,May the goddess bless you Karen xxx, Greetings in the name of the River Sprites Louise xxx.." and so on,as if deep down they're scared because they've rejected Jesus, and take comfort and assurance from being in each others company!
Maybe theyl'll take comfort from each others company when they're all in hell, but i doubt it.

38  Theology / Apologetics / Re:A Question on Genesis. on: January 05, 2004, 07:48:39 PM
This talk of stars reminds me of the opening lines of John Masefields classic poem "Sea Fever":-
"I must go down to the seas again,to the lonely sea and the sky,and all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by..."
39  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Disbelief Examples? on: January 05, 2004, 07:43:44 PM
In conversations with unbelievers, they're usually guaranteed to say at some point "I don't believe in a hell", as if that will mean there is no hell!
That mentality is like a young rabbit leaving the buirrow for the first time and disregarding the warnings of other rabbits to beware the fox. "It's alright" he replies,"I don't believe in foxes,so I'll be alright!"
40  Theology / Apologetics / Re:IS YOUR BIBLE THE RIGHT ONE? on: January 02, 2004, 05:32:15 PM
The KJV is fearless but some modern translations are wimpy and politically-correct,but useful for cross-reference.
A good yardstick by which other versions can be compared to the KJV is to look at how they've mutilated the beautiful 23rd Psalm.
Log in to one of the websites like Bible Gateway which allow a selection of passages from different versions to be viewed onscreen simultaneously.
41  Theology / Apologetics / When should we say "enough is enough"? on: January 02, 2004, 10:43:11 AM
Although the Bible tells us to spread the word, with passages such as this in 2 Tim ch 2:-"And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will." (2 Tim 2:26),we are also told not to waste our time if they won't listen:- "Don't yoke yourself with unbelievers, for what do light and darkness have in common?" (2 Cor 6:14)
"Don't let unbelievers into your house or bid them God speed" (2 John 9:11)
"Bad company corrupts good character" (1 Cor 15:33)
Jesus said:- "Don't cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them and attack you" (Matt 7:6)
"Avoid foolish questions, contentions and persistent heretics" (Titus 3:9-11)
"Withdraw from proud disputers" (1 Tim 6:3-5)
"Keep away from profane babblers" (1 Tim 6:20/21)
"Come out from among them and be my sons and daughters" (2 Cor 6:17/18)
Paul set an excellent example:- "The Jews argued with him,so Paul said 'I'm clear of my responsibility' and left" (Acts 18:6) and I just wonder what other peoples views are?
My own view is that if we hang around with unbelievers for too long, their bad vibes are definitely bad for us.Remember how Jesus had to clear the scoffers and their bad vibes out of the room before he could bring that dead little girl back to life?
At what point do we "give up" on persistent unbelievers and wash our hands of them lest their wrong mindset begins to drag us down?
42  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Confused on: January 02, 2004, 09:57:06 AM
A couple of years ago I read the pro-evolution book "Climbing Mount Improbable" by Dr.Richard Dawkins to get an insight into modern scientific thinking, and after I'd finished it I concluded that scientists are just making themselves look silly!
Dawkins book is full of holes, speculations, wild guesses, sweeping statements etc that are simply a desperate attempt to justify evolution!
By the way,Dawkins is a self-confessed atheist,surprise surprise!
43  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Where When We Die? on: December 31, 2003, 05:43:43 PM
The Bible is quite clear what happens when we die:-
When we die, time stops for us and we go into a "sleep of death" to await Judgement Day:-
"Don't grieve for those asleep, for they sleep in Jesus" (1 Thess 4:13/14)
Then on Judgement Day,christians AND nonchristians get a wake-up call:-
As Jesus said:- "ALL in the graves shall come out,to resurrection or damnation" (John 5:28/29)
Then the christians are whisked off to heaven and the nonchristians are left standing on earth.
And then they begin screaming hysterically as the demons come for them.As Jesus said:- "Thrown screaming into the fire" (Matt 13:41/42)
They had their chance:-"It's dreadful to fall into the hands of God for trampling his son underfoot" (Heb 10:29-31)
Hence the terrible warning:- "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philip 2:12)
Death is part of life.Idi Amin, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Johnny Cash, Richard Crenna,Jack Elam, Maurice Gibb, Katherine Hepburn, Bob Hope, Robert Palmer, Gregory Peck,Tony Jackson,David Hemmings,Alan Bates, Adam Faith and Bob Monkhouse all died in 2003
And over the years I've seen my parents die,and my grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends,a nephew, pets, but so what? Thats life!
44  Theology / Apologetics / No truth "out there"! on: December 31, 2003, 05:25:20 PM
I've never agreed with the popular modern saying "the truth is out there" because it  implies the answers to everything are out there in the universe.
But the so-called "wondrous universe" is nothing more than lifeless chunks of cosmic "builders debris" left over from the Creation, mindlessly floating around and bumping into other chunks.
For example,Andromeda doesn't care about Orion, neither do the Pleiades care tuppence for Ganymede.
That's because dead atoms and molecules CAN'T feel compassion or anything else!
It's only HERE on Earth within ourselves can emotions and compassion be found.
But if we stop caring, we become less than human and no better than all the other useless cosmic junk floating around.
The Truth was given by Jesus. So why do we need to look for it "out there?"
If people are incapable of finding The Truth in the Bible, they're certainly not going to find it "out there" or anywhere else!
45  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Confused on: December 31, 2003, 06:21:24 AM
All the science degrees in the world won't guarantee spiritual awareness, and may even seriously hamper spiritual progress. As Jesus said:- "I thank you Father for hiding these things from the wise and learned, and for revealing them to little children"(Matt 11:25-27)
To my mind,God wrote the "creation program" then snapped his fingers to start it.THAT was the Big Bang. Simple!
