46  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:A gay conspiracy??? on: November 03, 2003, 09:38:47 PM
Thanks for the article Jonny - I think we appreciate what you are trying to say.  Ebia, please....think before you post, thank you.
47  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Gay Bishop on: November 03, 2003, 09:34:53 PM
Yeah, I hate to say it but I think this is a matter which needs a heck of a lot of prayer from all of us.  It just seems to me to be a terribly hypocritical thing to appoint a gay bishop when the bible clearly says otherwise.
48  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:The Beast is Here. on: November 02, 2003, 02:10:32 PM
I"ve always wondered though who is the "man of lawlessness" that the bible talks about?
49  Theology / General Theology / Re:Bibles in church on: November 02, 2003, 02:06:52 PM
Yes I always bring my own bible to church because it is easier to read and I can take notes in it sometimes.
50  Prayer / Answered Prayer / Re:Marriage... love or life sentence?? on: November 01, 2003, 03:58:50 PM
You're right Jim - that's an awesome testimony of your marriage that you shared.  God has been in my marriage too and there have been quite a few times when we could have been divorced but thanks to the Lord we're not.  I think that marriage only becomes a "life sentence" if we don't have God involved in it with us.  He is the only one who can help us.
51  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:please keep praying on: November 01, 2003, 03:53:09 PM
I'm really sorry for what you are going through.
It must be very stressful and heartbreaking.
When hard times come to me I try to remember this verse which I hope helps you:

Psalm 23:
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [1]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
52  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:November 9 on: November 01, 2003, 03:47:46 PM
Amen to that.
It reminds me of what Jesus said to his disciples "all men will hate you because of me".
53  Theology / General Theology / Re:Mormonism: Not Christian, but a cult on: November 01, 2003, 03:42:48 PM
Thanks for all that information.
I've often wondered what they believe in.
54  Prayer / Answered Prayer / Re:Kicked Booze on: October 31, 2003, 07:59:00 PM
Wow, Praise the Lord - that's amazing.
I drank alcohol too for a number of years and in fact the average amount I spent on it in one night was around $300.00NZD.  What a waste....... But I remember the day after I asked Jesus to come into my life I woke up the next morning and no longer needed a drink and haven't had one since (it was 9 years ago).  I believe that God can do anything if we ask him to.
55  Welcome / About You! / Re:New here.... MY goals. on: October 31, 2003, 07:55:09 PM
Welcome to you - I myself actually find the King James bible to be a bit hard to understand whereas other people find it just right for them.  There are many bibles out there which are made alot simpler - the one I have is called an NIV study bible and it actually not only has a concordance at the back but on every back it explains the scriptures.
Why dont' you ask God in a simple prayer to help you to understand a verse if you are having trouble with it.
56  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Halloween on: October 31, 2003, 02:17:02 AM
Halloween is something that thankfully is not very popular over here in nz but it's also something I keep completely away from.  But here is a website I found which actually details where it first came from.
http://www.jeremiahproject.com/halloween.html
It's actually the 31st October here now - 8.15pm - we are just over a day ahead of the USA and it's been pretty quiet tonight - no trick or treaters have come knocking.
57  Entertainment / Television / Re:to TV or not to TV on: October 31, 2003, 02:13:03 AM
I would love to get rid of our tv - I hardly ever watch stuff on it anyway but my husband is the one who likes it.
I know as a parent I have to be really picky about what my children watch as there is so much rubbish on.  I mean, on most programs there is so much subtlety with little bits of new age etc coming in which influences the kids.  I won't go into details about which tv programs but I would rather my kids go outside and play.
58  Entertainment / Television / Re:Televangelists on: October 31, 2003, 02:10:50 AM
I have to completely agree with Tamara on this one - we will know other Christians by their fruit.  I know a little about the "Benny Hinn" saga but I  feel that the media tends to blow things out of proportion, I mean we don't know the man personally and I think we need to be careful that we aren't judging him as only God can judge.
59  Entertainment / Sports / Re:What's your favorite sport? on: October 30, 2003, 11:35:38 PM
I am an absolute rugby freak - it's my favorite sport to watch but I also like the WWE Wrestling and my fave wrestler is HBK Shawn Michaels - he's a Christian too (you probably knew that anyway).
60  Fellowship / Testimonies / Re:Attempted suicide, then salvation on: October 30, 2003, 11:30:51 PM
Wow what an awesome testimony my friend.
It just goes to show that Jesus does go looking for his lost sheep doesn't he and that everyone of them is important to him.
