60586  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:what's wrong with voting Kerry? on: October 29, 2004, 02:07:48 PM
I hadn't checked this thread for awhile but thought I would say why I am now a Kerry supporter.

I really thought Edwards was the proper choice so I would have said that he was the best man, but that choice is no longer available.

Kerry is slow to anger.  This is a complicated War we are in, simple direct actions are likely to be simply wrong.  We must consider the effects our actions will have years from now, not just shoot from the hip.  Kerry is clearly more suited to think situations over before taking action.

Is that the reason he is making accusations against Bush before he has all the facts (the missing weapons). Is that the reason that he keeps changing his mind on how he votes on different bills.

Quote
Kerry's tax policy is better for the middle class.  The moral strength of our country comes from the middle class.  The Middle Class is in great danger of shrinking.   A US without a large Middle Class is just another third-world country.

Rolling back tax cuts that Bush put in helps the middle class, right.

Kerry is willing to cooperate with other countries.  The US must turn from the idea that we are the only superpower and it's our way or the highway.  We aren't going to win anything if it's the US against the World.  Kerry is quite well suited to meet with and negotiate favorable positions for the US even with countries that aren't always our best friends.

Cooperating with the enemy so they get their way and are able to overcome us.

Kerry's health care plan is the better of the two.  That isn't saying a lot, but it is better.  It would help where people are loosing their whole life's work to catastrophic health care costs.  It would also help remove some of the fear employers have of hiring someone who might or does have health issues.

I am handicapped and I don't see Kerry's health "plan" helping anyone. In fact it will cause more health problems by allowing prescription drugs that are not safe for consumption to be used. His "plan" also calls for our children to get certain types of care without their parents consent or notification.

I have been a longhair for 40 years Grin

<Smiley))><

Amen, Brother. I have been a short hair for 54 years.

Most people that approach this subject over look the verse:

1Co 11:16  But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
60588  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:Russia tied to Iraq's missing arms on: October 29, 2004, 01:08:12 PM
Like most situations there are a lot of "experts" that speak up and will complain and judge others saying how poor a job they did.

This was a war and in a war there is a lot of confusion and things sometimes do get overlooked. One of the objectives was to find and destroy all munitions/explosives that could be used against us (the main objective was to get their army under control with as few of ours being killed as possible). There were many munitions/explosives that did get destroyed. For various reasons not all of these got recorded.

There were satellite pictures taken at the onset of the war that showed munitions trucks moving loads out of the country that could not be stopped and checked or destroyed.

Was this a poor operation by our troops? NO! This operation went fairly smooth and our troops did their job in an excellant and professional manner from planning to execution.

You forgot a few......

Yassir Arafat supports Kerry

Kim Jong Il supports Kerry

Fidel Castro supports Kerry

former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad supports
Kerry (Mahathir is an anit-semitic. This year, he urged U.S.
Muslims to vote for Kerry "in the name of Islam".)

And there are others. I find it interesting that all of these are either socialists/communists or terrorists and all are or have been enemies of the U.S. that have a desire to see us go their way.

60590  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Teen Study Bible on: October 29, 2004, 10:46:59 AM
For those of you that might be considering getting a study Bible for your teens I would like to point out the NIV Teen Study Bible published by Zondervan.

It is NOT a Godly book. I am sure some of you are saying, "Here we go again with the KJV versus the NIV debate."  Well, that is not what this is about. I am not talking about the interpretation of this version but the pages that are in placed in between.

Please read this link for more very important information.

I don't think any good Christian parent wants their teen reading this. At least I don't.

Good info, you get "TWO"Thumbs UP - Thanks

Thank you.

60591  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Teen Study Bible on: October 29, 2004, 10:45:57 AM
The person who wrote the page made a very very big mistake.

The alternate definitions are not definitions for a christian teen...they are definitions that the normal 'teen' has come up with! The alternate definition propose what 'teens' think about an issue not what we as Christians should think.

in the zondervan teen study bible 1998...Witnessing: alternate definition - telling your friends about God and sometimes having them laugh at you.

Most teens (with the exception of those that already have it instilled properly in them) will see the "laugh at you" and not heed anything else.

Quote
The purpose of the alternate definition is to show what the normal average teen thinks...it does not promote or encourage that thought...on the contrary it shows why that is wrong.

How does it show that is wrong?

60592  Theology / General Theology / Re:Long Hair. 1Cor.11:1-16 on: October 29, 2004, 12:08:31 AM
This is what the Bible says about it:

1Co 11:14  Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Co 11:15  But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
1Co 11:16  But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

1Ti 2:9  In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

1Pe 3:3  Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

I used to have German Shepherd/Basenji dogs. Now that I am handicapped I can't handle b ig dogs like that anymore and my landlord wouldn't allow it anyway. So I decided to go with a Rat Terrier.

Meet Buster, this is him after a walk in the cold.

Nap time.

Even with my poor eyesight I can "see" that quite clearly. It ties in too well with Bill Clinton seeking the office of Sec Gen of the UN.

I wonder what their "supposed intentions" were?

Evangelist

Thank you. I didn't think that I was seeing things, either.
And thank you for a much better amplification of what I was trying to say.
60598  Theology / Debate / Re:god's word on: October 28, 2004, 01:30:36 PM
I didn't mean to be offensive or evasive. I have discussed things on another website with many that proclaim atheism. I have nothing against atheists and have actually enjoyed taking to a few that really want to talk and not bash. It has been a common thing for those that I have talked to, to use that phraseology when questioning the Bible. Again I didn't mean to offend anyone just wanted to know for sure where you stood so to be able to better understand.

As to your question......

The Bible doesn't give us specifics that I know of (perhaps there is someone else on this board that does), to know why we couldn't eat those things and now we can. I just know that it is that we can. Perhaps there was something wrong with that type of food at one time that made it not good for human consumption, but I am guessing here at best. I will leave this to someone else that may have studied it more than I have.

I havn't made a study of it myself because the Bible tells us:

Mat 6:25  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
60599  Theology / General Theology / Re:The Fall on: October 28, 2004, 12:57:26 PM
Actually we do not know what the fruit looked like. An apple was used in pictorals of the event because it was a common known fruit. Adam and eve ate of the "fruit of the tree of knowledge" which gave them the knowledge of right from wrong. This gave them  and their descendants the understanding of sin. Having this knowledge therefore made them accountable for their sins the first of which was the eating of that fruit.

Does this make us the same as other animals? No. We were made to have dominion over animals and plants. We were made with a soul from the start just not to have accountability.

Gen 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Gen 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

60600  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:NOW WE CAN'T EVEN PRAY????? on: October 28, 2004, 12:38:07 PM
Passing it on to all that I can.

My prayers start NOW and without ceasing.

Thank you for pointing this out.
