Its mostly country by this singer Josh Gracin. I went to joshgracin.com to listen to some of his stuff and it was really good an inspiring. I highly recommend checking out some of his music at that site.

Some real good stuff there. :) Title: Re:Country Music Post by: Kristi Ann on July 28, 2004, 05:45:35 PM Did everyone know there such a thing as Christian Country Music?

Title: Re:Country Music Post by: sincereheart on July 31, 2004, 06:28:44 PM Another good one (1996) is Charlie Daniels' "Steel Witness".
My favorite song on that CD is New Pharisees... They go walkin' into church every Sunday morning They the self-appointed sin patrol Well, they whisper and they gossip behind the back Of anybody they can't control See that girl in the choir, she's got evil desires She must be drinking from the devil's well She's a downright disgrace with that paint on her face She looks just like a Jezebel And they're running around putting everybody down What are you trying to do You need to pick up the Book and take another look 'Cause brother I've got news for you You know Jesus was sent with a new covenant And He even died for you New Pharisees Like a fatal disease Always flapping your jaws Trying to live by the law You see that boy over there with that long shaggy hair Ought to be ashamed of hisself He wearin' hip-hop clothes, got a ring in his nose Don't he know he goin' straight to hell And then yesterday mornin' Me and sister Johnson Were talkin' on the party line She said that Deacon Brown Was havin' dinner downtown Somebody seen him with a glass of wine And you act so righteous and you look so pious You always pay your tithe But there's a rock in your heart And a fire on your tongue And there ain't no love in your eyes Bad news is begotten and the devil is smilin' You gossip and you criticize Well, you can't get by the law So quit flapping your jaws New Pharisees Yes, you're a lot like me Title: Re:Country Music Post by: Kristi Ann on August 01, 2004, 02:08:27 AM Ever hear of the Christian Band called Daniel Amos and their album ShotGun Angel? Like the Long Black Train. Some real good stuff there. :) Don't quite understand Three Wooden Crosses... A farmer and a teacher, a...um...unsavory woman and a preacher. They are on a bus, bound for Mexico. All but the hooker dies. Now. The bus is struck by another vehicle. Maybe one of the four is driving the oncoming vehicle - but no, they're all on the bus, bound for Mexico. Is one of them the bus driver? Were there passengers in the other vehicle? And yet there are three wooden crosses...why there's not four of them, heaven only knows...shouldn't there be at least six? ??? The problem isn't over: was the hooker pregnant at the time with the boy who later becomes a preacher and tells this story? Am I taking a good ol' song too far? Title: Re:Country Music Post by: sincereheart on August 02, 2004, 12:47:25 PM LOL @ Willowbirch!
Quote Am I taking a good ol' song too far? YES!! :D :D Sorry, just kidding..... :-XI thought it was because of the preacher's last words to her that she gave up her lifestyle to follow Christ and then became a mom and raised a godly son who became a preacher. Three Wooden Crosses by: Randy Travis Lyrics... A farmer and a teacher a hooker and a preacher Ridin' on a midnight bus bound for Mexico One's headed for vacation one for higher education And two of them were searchin' for lost souls That driver never ever saw the stop sign And eighteen wheelers can't stop on a dime There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway, Why there's not four of them Heaven only knows I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you It's what you leave behind you when you go That farmer left a harvest a home and eighty acres The faith and love for growin' things in his young son's heart And that teacher left her wisdom in the minds of lots of children Did her best to give them all a better start And that preacher whispered, "Can't you see the Promised Land?" As he laid his blood-stained bible in that hooker's hand There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway Why there's not four of them Heaven only knows I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you It's what you leave behind you when you go That's the story that our preacher told last Sunday As he held that blood-stained bible up, For all of us to see He said,"Bless the farmer, and the teacher, an' the preacher; "Who gave this Bible to my mamma, "Who read it to me." There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway, Why there's not four of them now I guess we know. It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you It's what you leave behind you when you go There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway Title: Re:Country Music Post by: Allinall on August 02, 2004, 01:45:08 PM Yep. The problem isn't over: was the hooker pregnant at the time with the boy who later becomes a preacher and tells this story? Am I taking a good ol' song too far? Yeah! I always took it that there were 5 in the bus, the farmer, teacher, hooker, preacher and the driver, and then then truck driver makes six. I always figured the farmer, teacher and preacher died and either the driver did too but nobody cared enough to put a cross there for him, or he lived and married the hooker who wasn't pregnant at the time, let alone saved, then the driver and former hooker get saved, have a child, who then grows up to be a preacher. I figured the truck driver lived cause he had a big truck. Then again, I've been known to be overly analytical at times... ;D |
