Well this is a debate is it not?
So how does one love a hot dog?
How do you as an individual?
Is it love at first sight? Or does one have to work up a relationship? Then does love come?

Is it posibble to just like a hot dog with out the love? Perhaps mustard or ketchup would take it beyond liking and into the
deeper felicitudes of emotion.

I did and I was just about to post, "where is Reba"?

"The hot dogs of today taste like wet hot chicken feather smell"

Well if that isn't a summation and testimoney on the love of hot dogs. But Reba you did not say if you love that smell.

After that deep well thought ought critique on hot dogs won't you please hurry over to the "My favorite pizza" thread and after much reflection tell us if pizza tastes like the smell of anything!

I voted no that I do not love hot dogs.  But you know what's funny?  I sell hot dogs for a living LOL.

To me personally hot dogs don't seem to have much taste.  They are bland and just ugh....It's the condiments that add taste to them.  Hot dogs are just an excuse to eat the condiments on something Smiley.

Of course it doesn't help that I boil my hot dogs though.  Customers don't seem to mind.

Despite my hot dogs being all beef and just about the best that money can buy I still don't like them much unless I am real hungry in which case I will have one.

NORMAL Hot Dogs I like pretty well, but we get the low-fat, or turkey hot dogs.  Tongue Not too great. I always exult when I can have a REAL hot dog. Mmmm.

(But, pizza's better!)

The real question is whether a hot dog should extend beyond the bun and if so by how much?

Or whether the hot dog bun should be plain, whole wheat, or sesame seed?

You see this all goes back to my contention that it's what's around that rolled up piece of meat or pork that lends it it's taste.

A hot dog in a plain white bun with just ketchup tastes entirely different than one in a whole wheat bun with hot peppers and onions for example.

That's how hot dog vendors get away with calling the same hot dog in the middle all kinds of different names as though one was getting something entirely different.  Such as Chicago Dog or Coney Island Dog or any of a number of different names.  Usually the same hot dog in the middle but with different bun and condiment combinations.

And then of course we have the issue of whether taste is affected by the color of the hot dog.  Whether it is better to leave a hot dog in steam for a long time such that it turns a deep dark brownish color (needing customers to be reassured that they are not being served last year's dogs) or whether it is better to serve it up as soon as it is cooked such that it looks fresh red like a baby's diaper rash Smiley.  From a taste standpoint mind you.

There's quite a bit that might influence the taste of the lowly hot dog if you ask me.  Of course only a computer programmer turned hot dog vendor like me would probably consider such things Smiley.

Now as to the width of the hot dog it should be ... oh never mind....
