Sports seem to me a very immature and juvenile affair.

Grown men chasing a ball around a court, a field, a course.

Or even worse, watching someone else do that.

Or even worse, watching it on TV.

Men standing around after church, talking about yesterday's football game.

Idle talk.  Idle gossip.

Like two old women, out in the back yard cackling like geese as they hang up their laundry.

And then the minister on Sunday morning has to include some clever, stupid remark about the game just in order to get people to listen to a few remarks from the Bible.

Yes, football does seem like a very pointless sport.  Men trying their hardest to make a touchdown (running for their lives with a ball to their side of the field).  What's really interesting though is how excited people get about it.  My dad is usually a very quiet person, but when the game is on, you can hear him all throughout the house.  I think the only thing amusing for me is watching my dad throughout the football game.  It's great! Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. Hebrews 11:1

Hmm.  Well, you seem to have a good attitude about it, Music.

I've never fully understood it, tho I've been known to watch golf, on tv, but very rarely even that.

I guess men find watching sports the only way to vent their general frustration with their lives.  That's the only reason I can think of.   Men who watch it or participate just must be very unhappy men, or just anxious.

Symphony,

I am not really a sports fan, yes I do follow it sometimes. I can live without baseball, football, basketball, soccor, and golf. I do however watch Racing.

I enjoy it because, at one time I did race. In my younger days, nothing like Nascar. It is like kayaking in white water. You get such a rush out of it, I can't describe it to you. That is something you have to do, to know the feelings.

I copy every Nascar, sunday race, to view after Church.

If this crippled body would allow me. I would be out on a track racing again.

Go in peace with God.

From what I saw on the news. I think all involved should be supended, and fined, or what ever their contract pay them per year.   Maybe then, they will learn manners.

From what I saw on the news. I think all involved should be supended, and fined, or what ever their contract pay them per year.   Maybe then, they will learn manners.

I had a response to this, but time didn't allow me to respond.  Sooooo...now I will!  My take on it?  It was a debacle.  Never should have happened on either side of the white line.  As to the on-court scuffle...Ben Wallace deserves the game suspension he received, considering he only was required to miss 2 games for his part.  I think it reflects the effect his actions had on the fans.  Makes you think about what you do and how it affects/influences others doesn't it?

Ron Artest deserves to be fired.  He's a great player but the only real consistency he's shown is in getting himself into trouble.  True, he was attacked, but come on!  You make that kinda money and can't control yourself?  Time to cut your losses IMO.

Jermaine O'Neal does not deserve that extensive of a punishment.  Fine?  Yes.  Suspension?  Yes - but 6 games not 25.  This comin' from a guy who's followed O'Neal for awhile.  Dude has consistently shown his committment to the team and the Pacer organization as a whole.  He's changed his attitude and performance to reflect that.  His actions I do believe were in his mind in protection of his team.  Face it.  When the crowd comes on to the floor, you don't have security and when your guys are gettin' beat, you either run or step in.

Jackson deserves to be suspended for the year and questionably considered for being fired as well.  He did more than Artest.  'Nough said.

All others were just calls I think.  I think the whole thing escalated when no one knew what to do.  Shock ruled and chaos followed.

Anywho.  I've ranted and will stop now.  It's a shame anyway you look at it.  What's more?  Shame that Pacer bench hasn't pulled through for 'em...isn'it?   Grin
