346  Welcome / About You! / Hello on: June 05, 2007, 03:03:46 AM
My name is Maryjane...I live in Texas...Growing up, my mother took me to church every time the doors were open.  I knew about God at an early age. When I grew and married, I did not go to church. I married a man who grew up going to church. I lived my life the way I wanted to. My husband and I became successful in our jobs.  We would send our daughter to church on the bus and it convicted me because my mother took me to church and I did not take my daughter, she went alone.  One night, I was watching TV. It was a program PTL.  A man by the name of John Starnes sang a song, The man From Galilee.  In the song, he sang, have you met the man from Galilee, I know of Jesus, but I never met Him and this man was singing how Jesus could change my life. I need to. I had put myself into situations that i kept secret that were tearing me apart. Out of conviction I repented. I asked the Lord to change me to make me His way, not my way. I will never forget that night, for He did change me.  My husband also repented. We both came to know the Lord and we both began to study His word. It became the foundation of our life together.  Later, my husband was in a severe accident that cost us everything.  Even so, I found peace and comfort through it all. I never thought coming to the Lord would bring me riches nor did I think it would make everyday like a fairytale, as I have known so many valleys. But I can say through it all, the Lord has never forsaken us, He has held us through every storm we have faced.  I think about the words, Though you slay me, I will trust you, and that is really my testimony.  In my walk, I am accountable for it and no one else.  To study His word that I will not sin against God. To pray asking "If Thy will be done and not my own. Many times, His will is not mine but He knws what is best for me and I have grown through every step I have taken in the good and the bad times.  If I could tell anyone aboutthe Lord it would be, what He says is true. Every word, every promise.  He does not promise richess, but beyond riches. He offers salvation. And it is free to all who will believe and trust.  I have never found anything complicated in His word. It is final. I have a minsitry that the Lord has given to me, and that of preaching the gospel.  And to remind all to keep going even though the road gets rough, we are not alone and through each road that we must endure only brings us to greater trust in the Lord.

Sincerely,

Maryjane

Fantastic debate...The reason we hear so much about all the other religions other than christianity is that the preaching of repentance has been replaced with false doctrines for those with itchy ears. churches are filled with people seeking anyting but repentance.  Mega churches who dote on their programs to keep people in what is a social club rather than coming to terms with their need for repantance. 2nd Tim. 4:1-4. Christians are given a calling and the calling is to preach the gospel even though it is not convienient or if one would suffer persecution, few will do this. If this were not so, this nation would not be 50 percent not knowing who God is. A vast missionfield with very few laborers.

348  Theology / Debate / Re: Should the church promote young marriages to deal with sexual immorality? on: June 05, 2007, 02:06:57 AM
I believe all that christians who plan to marry should study the book of Ephesians re: marriage...So many who attend a singles group in curches marry and divirce then recycle themselves in the singles group. The divorce rate is so high even amoung the churches for lack of knowledge of God's word and to trust His word for their lives...I have been married for 35 years and the best advice I have ever been given re: marriage is to never marry a non christian...for by marrying a christian, you are treated in the manner God would have you treated.

349  Theology / Debate / Re: Where Have All The Children Gone? on: June 05, 2007, 01:41:01 AM
Hi...

My heart really went out to this subject...parents of children in this age have been teaching their children "self"..to excel to compete..to be better educated...childhood is stolen from children.  Children dress like 30 yr old adults...Parents are ruled by the desires of their children...The school system is where the trust is in children to believe that 'religion' is what they make of it..to This is what we are as christians face in this world today and the world will not get better and we have  to depend on the Holy Spirit within us to direct us into bringing these children to the knowledge of what is truth..It depends on our individul walk with the Lord and it all comes down to prayer and to act on our prays as the Spirit moves..Even th adult children are like the children..full of false doctrines that please them and living in a morality thinking just being 'good' is enough...Even the Homosexuals believe they are christians and have taught thier children it is okay and they are accepted as being christian. If htere was ever a time to preach repentance the time is now...

Sincerely...
Maryjane
350  Theology / Debate / Re: Joel Osteen and the Prosperity Gospel on: June 05, 2007, 01:19:20 AM
Hi...

Prosperity has nothing to do with God's plan for our life for His plan is not earthly but eternal...There was a time when God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden...Adam and Eve had everything until sin came in...It seperated us from God...God's plan for us had nothing to do with money..but had everything to do with sacrifice...the sacrifice of His only son that we can once again be reconciled with God...there is no prosperity large enough to pay the debt..the only way we can become a christian and inherit eternal life...is through Jesus...Jesus..who was not a rich man on this earth...and was not even given the title of rich and prosperous...Jesus told John...the poor have the gospel...Jesus never preached prosperity...Jesus preached repentance..."Before God and Christ Jesus. who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom, I solemnly charge you, proclaim the message, persist in it, whether conveinient or not, rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching. For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will accumulate teachers for themselves because they will have an itch to hear something new. They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. But as for you, keep a clear head about everything. Endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist fulfill your ministry.  2nd Tim. 4:1-4
To be truly prosperous is to know the Lord and to know you have eternal life...To know your sins are forgiven by the only one who can forgive and to be covered by the blood that so richly was shed for us...It is our calling on this earth...not to lust for riches...not to believe that when you come to the Lord all will be fine...for the road is narrow and few will find it for few will trust when the going gets rough...Few will utter the words..."THOUGH YOU SLAY ME..I WILL TRUST YOU...Are you like those christian brothers and sisters who were in jails awaiting their death singing praises to God...They were not rich on this earth..but have been given the greatest wealth for they have life eternal...None have preached earthly wealth, but eternal wealth and that being in the presence of Jesus...
My dear brothers and sisters.. the time is so short and the days will not get better...no amount of money can change anything...There was a time Jesus mentioned wealth and that was to a rich young man who chose wealth over the Lord and went away sad...How many are like that today?...
