THE FOUNDATION

“The fundamental source of all your errors, sophisms and false reasonings is a total ignorance of the natural rights of mankind. Were you once to become acquainted with these, you could never entertain a thought, that all men are not, by nature, entitled to a parity of privileges. You would be convinced, that natural liberty is a gift of the beneficent Creator to the whole human race, and that civil liberty is founded in that; and cannot be wrested from any people, without the most manifest violation of justice.” —Alexander Hamilton (1775)

TOP RIGHT HOOKS

Wonkette Defends Bill Clinton’s ‘Alpha Sex’1

Writing in Wonkette, Rebecca Schoenkopf says, “Let’s Talk About Juanita Broaddrick2.” What follows in an utterly reproachable defense of Bill Clinton and his well-documented history of sexual impropriety, including against Broaddrick3, who alleges he raped her in 1978. Not that Clinton is innocent, mind you. Schoenkopf opines, “I can absolutely see Bill Clinton doing this (then, not now) and not even thinking of it as rape, but thinking of it as dominant, alpha sex. I can see a LOT of men doing that during that time period, before we started telling them in the ‘80s, 'hey, that is rape, do not do that.’”

That’s hogwash, of course, but it’s basically the same as asking (to borrow from Clinton’s Lewinsky defense later on, “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is”): Was it rape? Or rape-rape? Let’s just say: Rape — or “alpha sex,” or whatever you want to call it — was not a misunderstood concept before the late 20th century. But the extent to which Clinton sympathizers will redefine it and attempt to normalize it “during that time period” to find any excuse for their man is remarkable.

In her conclusion, Schoenkopf writes, “To sum up, I think Bill Clinton could very well have raped Juanita Broaddrick; that it doesn’t make him an evil man, or irredeemable (I’m Catholic; we’re all forgiven, if we’re sorry, and Broaddrick says Bill Clinton personally called her up to apologize). It doesn’t even necessarily make him a bad feminist — you know, later, once he stops doing that.” No one is beyond redemption, it’s true, but let’s also not miss the point.

As John Sexton put it4 at Hot Air, “Wonkette deserves some credit for admitting that it looks very bad for Bill Clinton but they lose most of that immediately by arguing that, despite what he did, he’s a really good guy. That’s not good enough. It’s easy for Bill to be a good guy so long as he doesn’t have to pay any price whatsoever for being a bad guy.” That he’s never had to pay a price for anything, not to mention a complete lack of repentance, is what makes this Wonkette article so repulsive. But it’s not just Clinton who’s to blame. The media was complicit too. The worst part of all? The wife of any Republican facing similar allegations — and whose own misdeeds the press has also covered up — wouldn’t be the presidential nominee today.

Leftmedia Content to Blame Police5

Black Lives Matter “activists” (read: agitators) took to Milwaukee’s streets for a weekend of rioting, ostensibly in response to the police shooting of a black man. As usual, leftists sympathized with the rioters' anger by blaming police for a culture of racism and brutality. But once again there proves to be little factual support for this narrative. From the beginning, it has been reported that the officer shot the suspect, Sylville Smith, because he was armed after he refused to comply with instructions to put down his gun.

Problem is that the officer who shot Smith is himself black. So much for the cop-being-a-racist angle, and yet still that doesn’t matter to the leftists. Goddess Mathews, a community agitator from the Milwaukee area, stated, “Yes, a black man did the shooting but he was wearing a blue uniform with a badge.” Once again, the Leftmedia is placing the blame for violence not on those lawless individuals but upon the law enforcement community.

Now social media has spread the name and home address of the officer involved along with pictures. Death threats against him have been posted online, such as this one: “Now y'all see his face if he’s seen anywhere in the city drop him.” Another read, “shoot him right in his head.” Liberalism masquerades madness as reality, and it’s becoming a more deadly problem all the time.

Something Queer Going on in Farmland…6

“In 1790, farmers were 90 percent of the U.S. labor force,” writes7 economist Walter Williams. “By 1900, about 41 percent of our labor force was employed in agriculture. Today, less than 3 percent of Americans are employed in agriculture.” You know what makes up an even smaller percentage? Lesbian farmers. Yet Barack Obama’s Department of Agriculture has begun a “rural pride” campaign to address this pressing issue.

“The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Civil Rights, in collaboration with the National Center for Lesbian Rights and The True Colors Fund, will engage with LGBT rural communities across the country to host the LGBT Rural Summit Series,” the USDA says. “Each series will offer a unique opportunity for USDA and other federal agencies to share information relating to policies, programs, and services that exist to protect, promote and strengthen LGBT rural communities.”

According to8 the Washington Free Beacon, “The all-day summit will teach lesbian and transgender hillbillies how to get subsidies from the government like rural housing loans and ‘community facility grants.’ Bullying will also be discussed.”

And who better to headline this event for farmers and rural citizens than … rock star Cyndi Lauper, born in Queens and a figurehead for the homosexual agenda. The big question here is simple: Where does the Constitution enumerate the power for government to waste taxpayer dollars in such a manner? The USDA’s answer may, in effect, be the title of one of Lauper’s hits: “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

Read Obama and Clinton DID Create the Islamic State!9. Predictably, the vacuum left by the 2011 Obama-Clinton retreat from Iraq created the resurgence of a far more dangerous incarnation of global Muslim terrorism.

Separation of Mosque and State20

More students nationwide are learning the PC version of Islam.

By Allyne Caan

In May, the Philadelphia School District announced it would be adding two Muslim holidays — Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha — to the school calendar, making the district one of a growing number in the nation to recognize Muslim holidays.

A member of the Philadelphia Eid Coalition, a political action committee whose stated mission is to convince the district to declare these holidays official religious holidays, said21 Philadelphia’s move will “validate our young Muslim students” and prevent them from “hav[ing] to choose between education and religion.”

Her words are particularly ironic, given the organized and concerted effort to validate Islam in American schools — at the expense of truth. Indeed, the Institute on Religion and Civic Values (formerly the Council on Islamic Education22) — which has reviewed world history textbooks for more than 20 years — made no secrets about its wish to foment a “bloodless” cultural revolution through promoting Islam via textbooks and, as the Middle Eastern Forum reported23, “warn[ing] scholars and public officials who do not sympathize with its requests that they will be perceived as racists, reactionaries, and enemies of Islam.”

The organization boasts that its “reviews have helped improve the coverage and framing of complex topics.” Substitute “fictionalize” for “improve,” and this becomes pretty accurate.

Joy Pullman reports24, for example, that an Ohio mother plans to excuse her child from a world history class requirement that he recite the shahada, a Muslim conversion prayer. (The Christian conversion prayer is in a subsequent class — just kidding.) And when that mother requested an independent review of the district’s textbooks, reviewers found blatant errors including a claim that Muslims historically “practiced religious tolerance” by merely levying an extra tax on Christians and Jews. The book conveniently left out that if Christians and Jews didn’t fork over the tax, they could lose their heads. Tolerance, indeed. Did Christianity and Judaism receive similar classroom time? Take a guess.

Last year, we noted25 that a school in Tennessee was teaching the Five Pillars of Islam during a world religion study, again without similar balance.

Citizens for National Security, an independent textbook reviewer, has also noted pretty hefty lies in textbooks, including teaching that “war broke out” between Palestinians and Israelis. Yep, they were all peacefully chatting over tea and war just “broke out.” Never mind well-documented Palestinian aggression.

Indeed, earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal noted26 parents' growing concern over “what they see as an overly benign depiction of [Islam].” For example, the Journal points to one textbook used in 30 of Tennessee’s 140 school districts that teaches that Islam expanded via conquest but also “spread peacefully” in many places. The textbook also notes Muslims' “religious toleration” toward Jews and Christians aided in Islam’s expansion. The 1.5 million Armenians slaughtered by Muslims27 during the Armenian Genocide must have missed out on this “tolerance.” Versions of this same textbook are used nationwide.

That’s not to say every school is promoting Islam. Some, as Pullman also notes, are pretty much pretending religion doesn’t exist altogether. The National Association of Scholars recently issued a review of the College Board’s new AP European history standards (APEH)28. Among the conclusions: APEH “warps and guts the history of Europe to make it serve today’s progressive agenda,” “presents religion throughout as an instrument of power rather than as an autonomous sphere of European history,” and “points the arrow of European history toward a well-governed, secular welfare state, whose interchangeable subjects possess neither national particularity nor faith nor freedom.”

In other words, the standards discount religion from playing a motivating factor in pivotal events of history such as the Holocaust (for evil) or abolition (for good).

It’s no secret government schools have long been indoctrinating students into the religion of the state. Before parents continue to claim that the problem may be real but their local school is “different,” they’d be wise to note just how organized and systematic the indoctrination has become.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Veronique de Rugy: “The reason companies engage in inversions (usually by merging with a foreign firm to pay taxes abroad instead of at home) is obvious to most economists: U.S. companies doing business overseas are put at a terrible disadvantage because of our punishing corporate income tax system. The United States has the highest rate of all the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries (35 percent at the top federal level and close to 40 percent when you add state taxes), including all the big welfare states in Europe. The United States also taxes income on a worldwide basis. This means that a U.S. company operating in Ireland pays the Irish rate first on its Irish income and then will pay the U.S. rate minus the tax paid in Ireland when it brings the income back to the United States. Contrast that with a French competitor doing business in Ireland. The French company pays the low Irish rate of 12.5 percent, period. To cope with the penalty or to try to remain competitive, U.S. companies are either not bringing their income back to the United States (there’s supposedly $2 trillion of earned U.S. income abroad) or performing inversions. … What’s stunning is that Clinton’s refusal to reform the corporate income tax doesn’t fit well with her claim that she wants to help American workers and that she cares about rejuvenating left-behind communities, such as Detroit. The economic literature shows that workers are shouldering the burden of the corporate income tax.”

SHORT CUTS

Insight: “Suppression of expression conceals the real problems confronting a society and diverts public attention from the critical issues. It is likely to result in neglect of the grievances which are the actual basis of the unrest, and this prevent their correction.” —Thomas I. Emerson (1907-1991)

Upright: “At 13 percent of the population, blacks commit nearly half of the nation’s homicides, and almost always the victim is black. Old people tend not to kill. Nor do women and the very young. This means 3 percent of the population, black men from 15 to 44 years old, commit nearly half of the country’s homicides. … Cable news reporters seem oblivious to rates of offending. It’s as if they believe that at 13 percent of the population, blacks should commit 13 percent of the crime — or ‘institutional racism’ must be at play. This is as silly as assuming that since non-Hispanic whites are 62 percent of the population, they should comprise 62 percent of the NBA.” —Larry Elder

Non Compos Mentis: “I take that supposed inconsistency to be somebody who has been operating at a really high level and now has to be forced to remember things from two or three years ago.” —former State Department spokesperson Nayyera Haq on Hillary Clinton’s email scandal (“The problem with lying is that you have to continue lying and you have to remember what all your lies have been so you can keep your lies straight.” —Larry O'Connor)

Belly Laugh of the Week: “I don’t want excuses. I’m a kind of no-excuse person.” —Hillary Clinton

And last… “Donald Trump received his first classified briefing [yesterday] and immediately learned that the biggest threat to America is Hillary.” —@weknowwhatsbest
