The rise of islam in the UK is staggering. Big cities like Manchester, Birmingham and London are full of muslims. The church is also in a very bad way here, full of liberalism and ecumenism. No suprise though I suppose.. in the days we live in.

Hi Bern
As a fellow resident of the UK, i have to agree fully with you here about the church over here. Thats one of the reasons i like these forums as much as i do, where we can be encouraged and also hear some truths that we may not like to hear but none the less, still need to hear. Many churches are watering down doctrines, just to please man. But i really believe that if the Church was more honest and said what it knew to be right, people would repect it more and who knows, maybe people would start filling the pews again.

I was blessed to be able to see Michael W Smith live in London in 2003. He gave a awesome concert and to hear so many singing along with him was great

I lost my Father in 2002 and we played MWS singing Friends at my dads funeral service, so that particualar song is pretty special to us.
139  Theology / Bible Study / Re:Wy do we strive in our walk in the Lord! on: January 23, 2005, 08:45:43 AM
Why We Strive to Walk! By Traci

Do you ever feel like you are living a defeated life in Christ trying to walk the faith!  I know I have.  What are you doing in your Christian walk to gain more of the Lord’s love and acceptance?  Do you feel like you have to do something to gain more of His love for you?

Have you been one of those Christians, has done what you know to do through experience and find out it did not work and feel defeated and unacceptable?  Are you trying to change what we are, what you do, and your circumstance so you will be more acceptable?  Have you tried all the particular methods of programs to change and even felt more unacceptableness or felt as though you are a defeated Christian?

What is the answer!  The answer is not something that we must do but rather something that we must believe!  Christian growth is simply accepting what we have always had from the beginning, from the first day we gave our lives to Christ!  And this simple life – the victorious life – will be experienced only through the abiding life.

What is the abiding life?  The Lord one day gave me a revelation some years ago that set me free from the walk of striving.  Not to say I still wrestle with that.  He showed me that there was nothing I could do, or say or perform to gain more of His love or acceptance because He already loved me.  He didn’t love me more because I received Him, but had partaken into His promises for me when I accepted Him.  His love for us is more than any of us could ever comprehend.  Also, there is nothing I could do including sinning that could take away the Love and acceptance He has for me.  Yes, when we sin we reap the consequences of sin.  The difference between an unbeliever and a believer is that the believer has the promises of eternal life the sinner is separated from Him and is condemned to eternal hell.  When I accepted Him, I became His child.  It was His love for us when we were sinners (lost) that he called us to Him – we accepted Him because He had already accepted us.   The difference is that the separation from me to Him was removed.  The wall from the Holy of Holies was removed and my relationship with Him was restored.

Again, the abundant life is not something to work for, but rather is something given to be worked from.  My acceptance is not based on what I do but rather on what I am.  (Acts 17:28 says, For in him we live, and move, and have our being;) Abundant life does not require that I imitate Jesus, but rather that I participate in His life; it does not require that I work to believe, but that I work because I believe.

How then do I experience this life abundant?  How do I discover a life free from sin?  And how can it be mine without effort?  God’s answer is specifically designed to be within the grasps of the weak, the failure, the unacceptable, the ignorant, the frustrated, and the hopeless.  The answer is abiding in Him.

God’s answer to abundant life is simple.  The Christian must learn to believe and receive by faith – faith we may not know we possess – not great talent, ability, or intellect.  The problem is not that God places on us a great and difficult task to perform in order to experience Him or His peace, rest and joy.  The problem is that we place on ourselves these great tasks and standards/acceptance that is higher than God’s.  Therefore, we end up struggling because of our own effort to change.  We can rest that we are accepted and Loved knowing I don’t have to perform to receive more of His love.  Receiving this truth can and will produce rest for you to receive peace and joy in your life.  What is holding you back to believe?

I Am Accepted
I am a child of God
John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
I am holy and acceptable to God (justified)
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
have been bought with a price. I belong to God
1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
have been adopted as Christ's child
Ephesians 1:5 In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will
I am complete in Christ
Colossians 2:10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
I Am Secure?
I am free forever from punishment
Romans 8:1,2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
am free from any condemning charges against me
Romans 8:31f What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us??
I cannot be separated from the love of God
Romans 8:35f Who shall separate us from the love of Christ??
I Am Significant?
I am a part of the true vine, joined to Christ and able to produce lots of fruit
John 15:1,5 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
am hand-picked by Jesus to bear fruit
John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
I am a Spirit-empowered witness of Christ
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
am a peace with God and He has given me the work of making peace between Himself and other people
2 Corinthians 5:17f Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!?

Amen whitedove. What a wonderful blessing it has been to read through this post. Brother Tom was so right when he said he was sure your writtings are helping others. Here is one of those others. So many times i feel wearied in my christian walk, yet when i take stock and look back, its because i am trying to do things my way and in my own strength, when all the time i don't have to. Christ has already done it for me and like you say, we just need to abide in him and believe what he has said in his word. It was wonderful to be reminded of so many of his precious promises. Thank you.

Freak,

I agree completely with Brother Gary. We are more than conquerors only in Christ.

JESUS loves you and you know that HE loved you enough to die for you. You are now a member of THE BODY OF CHRIST. You are being held in the Mighty Hands of Jesus, and no power in Heaven or earth can pluck you from HIS Hands. It is time for you to proclaim victory in JESUS, praise HIM, and take your place HE has given you. You have been given an inheritance with the saints in LIGHT, and that LIGHT is JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Saviour forever. You are a child of GOD who is set apart forever as belonging to HIM. The Holy Spirit of God lives in your heart, and you have been made a citizen of Heaven.

It is far past time for you to focus on who you are in JESUS, not who you were when you lived in darkness without HIM. It is time for you to praise and worship JESUS and let HIM be the LORD over your life. HE will help you overcome the old person you were before you accepted JESUS CHRIST. That old person is negative and trying to rob you of the victory all Christians have in JESUS. Your new person in JESUS is reality, and you need to feed that new person from HIS WORD. Make that new person in JESUS strong enough to take over and shove that old person out of your life.

You are not a freak. You are a child of God. JESUS died for you, so you are NOT insignificant or unworthy. JESUS will and has forgiven you. It is the BLOOD OF JESUS on the CROSS that washes away your sins as if they never happened. JESUS has spiritual riches that HE wants to feed you with every day so that your born again person in Christ will become stronger and stronger, overcoming the old person.

Sister, I pray for you every day. Just remember that you are a precious possession of JESUS, one of HIS children that he died for. HE wants to love you, guide you, and walk with you every step of the way. When you are weak, HE is strong. You will never be alone again, as HE is with you and lives in your heart.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Amen brother Tom

you know ive had firefox on my computer for awhile and ive heard everyone is going to it, but since i read this topic ive downloaded OPERA for the first time and im really enjoying it, The google ads don't bother me to much but it would be nice if they would go bye bye (LOL), Besides that there are some totally cool options that i can totally appreciate. The only problem ive had so far is it isn't compatable to GMAIL . I havent been able to configure it to work, so ill try the help line and see how the support is.
:DIf it doesn't work .. well ... I"ll just praise the Lord anyway Tongue

Opera is also a very good browser and one that i often use although firefox is my own personal favourite. You mentioned the ads on Opera and how it would be nice if they could go. Well, there is a program called noopads, that once installed, covers those ads. It's like a mini toolbar and you can put a icon on there, for example yahoo messenger, and when you click on it, yahoo will open. I am just using yahoo as one example. I am sure it works with many other icons. I don't know to much about setting noopads up as the ads do not bother me much but if your intrested, just click on the link where you will find the download plus the tutorial.

I know that we have some user's that, like me use Firefox for there browsing the web. Somebody on another forum that i visit mentioned an extension for firefox that is a bible toolbar, which i did not know existed. I have just downloaded this small extension and configured it to my liking and find it is a great little toolbar. You can Put in a particular verse and click search and it will find that particular verse or you can just key in a keyword.  There are many different bible versions and you can even set the version of your choice as default. If anyone's interested, the extension can be found  at

Yess, I believe so.... I changed my homepage, to another forum. Four times, and my homepage kept coming up here. So yes I believe that God, can control things beyond human control.

Praise God, for he is Worthy.

Hi gabriel

Great to have you on board here. Its a wonderful part of the UK that you live in. I have been blessed to be able to visit Scotland a number of times and the scenery is outstanding. A few of my favourite places were Avimore and Oban and of course, Edinburgh Grin  I can now fly to Edinburgh or Glasgow from my local airport for about £30 and be in Scotland in less than an hour. It makes the UK seem so small now thanks to these airlines.

God Bless
