Title: Need help!
Post by: Jesussavedusall on November 22, 2003, 01:16:55 AM
Hey, not only am I having a hard time lately with everything, but it just seems like God doesn't listen to my prayers any more.

It's kind of personal, so I don't want to talk about it publicly, but if you guys could help with your many voices, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Has Your Hut Been Burning?

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island.  He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.  Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions.  But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky.  The worst had happened - everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger.  "God, how could you do this to me?" he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island.  It had come to rescue him.  "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers.  "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

It's easy to get discouraged sometimes when things appear to be going badly.  But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering.  Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.
For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it.

You say, "Nobody really loves me."
God says: "I love you". (John 3:16 - John 13:34)

You say, "I can't go on."
God says: "My grace is sufficient." (II Cor. 12:9 - Psalm 91:15)

You say, "I can't figure things out."
God says: "I will direct your steps." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

You say, "I can't do it."
God says: "You can do all things in Me." (Phil 4:13)

You say, "It's not worth it."
God says: "It will be worth it." (Romans 8:28)

You say, "I can't forgive myself."
God says: "I forgive you." (Romans 8:1)

You say, "I can't manage."
God says: "I will supply all your needs." (Phil 4:19)

You say, "I'm afraid."
God says: "I have not given you a spirit of fear." (II Tim. 1:7)

You say, "I'm always worried and frustrated"
God says: "Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter 5:7)

You say, "I don't have enough faith."
God says: "I've given everyone a measure of faith." (Romans 12:3)

You say, "I'm not smart enough."
God says: "I give you wisdom." (I Cor. 1:30)

You say, "I feel all alone."
God says: "I will never leave you or forsake you." (Heb. 13:5)

It's gotten pretty bad... I don't want to say how bad, but I don't think my situation is looking too good...

I know about what he did to Job, but there is no reason to give me the intelligence to know which direction I am heading, and give me no way out...It's like a life sentence really...I am not "the perfect person" like Job was perfect, and it isn't my fault...

Short of being cruel, i don't see why God would allow this...

So nobody will pray for me?

Absolutely! It would be a privilege to pray for you. God puts us through waiting periods sometimes; maybe this is yours. Or it could be that God is working to conform your desires to His. Or, it is always a good idea to examine your life closely to see if there's an area that isn't entirely under His control. If that's the case, maybe this is what the reason is. Other things to consider are the ways in which you approach Him. Sometimes it's the way we appraoch Him. If we are listless, or disrespectful, or we ask for things with reasons other than what He is trying to foster, this can hinder prayer. Malachi is a great book for understanding this better. I just read it two nights ago.

But it may not be anything you're doing wrong. Maybe God just wants you to continue in godly service to Him while He works out the details of your life. It could just be a simple test of faith. But keep praying, whatever happens, keep in contact with Christians, and...why not ask God what H'e sthinking? If you praise Him first and ask Him respectfully, often He will answer.

I'm sorry-without more knowledge of your situation, all I can do is take a poke in the dark, but these are the most common reasons for hindered prayer. At any rate, this is a good time to fast and be on watch for satan's activity. He is famous for taking advantage of situations like this one.

Blessings to you,
Whitehorse

Dear heavenly Father, I pray that you bless this brother/sister in Christ with your peace and joy as he/she seeks your presence and blessing through earnest prayer and Bible study. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Psa 84:11)  For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
(Psa 84:12)  O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Oklahoma Howdy to JesusSavedUsAll,

I will definitely pray for you and your family. I have no idea what the circumstances are, but I would ask you please to not blame God or become angry with God. All of God's children have difficulty, illness, and trials in this short life, but that doesn't mean that God doesn't love us. If everyone else forsakes you, Jesus will still be standing there with you. Replace the energy of your anger with prayer and yielding to our Heavenly Father.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I'm praying for you, JSUA.  In Jesus' Name.

Is there anything good you can see or report?

Sometimes when we start looking for the good things, we start seeing all kinds of answers to prayer.  They sorta begin to accumulate.  ANd you lose track--"your cup runneth over".   ;D

What are some good things that are happnen'?
