Title: Think about heaven...
Post by: MangoMan on August 09, 2008, 09:28:36 PM
I don't think about heaven near as much as I probably should.  Somewhere along this life's journey, I picked up that heaven was a place where we'd all sit around Jesus and sing praises.  I remember as a youth thinking great, I can't sing.  Thankfully, when I get to heaven that problem will be rectified.

I'm not knocking that idea one iota though, I have heard a 70 person church choir sing some rousing worship pieces.  At first I thought it extravagant, along with the nice orchestra they had.  The pianist was to die for, oh what talent.  As soon as I thought how extravagant, I thought the opposite.  The idea pervaded my mind that think about what praise and worship is going to sound like in heaven.  A host of languages and harmonics, music I can't begin to fathom in perfect harmony.  Yi Yi Yi, imagine Handel's Messiah on steroids.

I also believe that Heaven will be mucho, mucho more than that.  Consider the earth, as wracked with sin and despair as it is for a moment.  We are wowed by it still.  Pictures of God's creation adorn our walls.  Can you imagine a new earth without the sin and despair?

Heaven's going to rock, why?  Because God is going to be with us for one.  Two, with Jesus as the Groom and we the church as His bride, can you begin to fathom the lavish love God the Father will shower on His Son and His bride?

Sincerely,
The MangoMan

That's my favorite part of this walk with our Lord....His Love!

That indeed will be a wondrous time.

I don't think that there will be "A host of languages". When we get to heaven we will all be of one accord, perfect in every way. Yes, that includes singing. (I've been called a bull horn myself so that will be a relief.)  ;)

Oh good!  I'm glad to see that I won't be the only one singing off key.  Do you think they'll make us three stand in the back?

I'll be as close to the feet of Jesus as I am allowed to be.

Try 4 of us sister, and no I think Jesus will allow any noise that is Glory to God to be close.

Psalm 100:1-5 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

******* This is a Mango Man Paraphrase, a Knock Knock Joke for GrammyLuv ******

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and behold the whole earth will hear...

[JESUS CHRIST]:  Knock Knock....

Everyone stops, looks at each other in silence, and then a in a small but eager voice...

[GrammyLuv]: Who's there...

There is a great rumbling thunder as Jesus starts to laugh...

[JESUS CHRIST]:  My dear children, come on home...

[All the Christians in one voice]:  Yahooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yet Jesus smiles, hearing the one voice whisper...

[GrammyLuv]:  Thank you Jesus!

There's the first of many heavenly knock knock jokes for you GrammyLuv.  I'm sure our Lord and Savior will have many so much better than mine to follow!

Sincerely,
The MangoMan

Psalm 100:1-5 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

This is exactly the verse I have in my head when I sing in church!  Because a joyful noise is the best it's going to get for now!

I could probably sing if I didn't have such a nerdy voice or on a ventilator.  :(

I know that it'll be fix in Heaven but maybe I'll play the recorder or those steel drums.  :)

Or perhaps a tabret or pipes.

Curious.  I'm not sure this can be definitively answered, but I've heard it postulated that the residents in heaven can see us on earth.  Obviously God can without a doubt.  My questions, are are there windows of sorts between our world and theirs, or is that limited to God only.

Sincerely,
The MangoMan

Billy Graham did an extensive study and has written many books on the subject of angels and heaven. When a similar question was presented to him he responded with:

"The Bible doesn’t answer all our questions about heaven. One reason is because heaven is far, far greater than anything we can ever imagine. As the Bible says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Nevertheless, the Bible does indicate that those who have gone to heaven before us are aware of what is happening on earth. The writer of Hebrews, for example, uses the image of a great arena to illustrate this, with those who have gone before us watching and cheering us on: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses ... let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1). When Moses and Elijah returned from heaven to meet with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, they spoke about events taking place on earth (see Luke 9:30-31)."

Even this is contested by many other scholars by using various verses that say that we will know no sadness nor evil. As the first verse that Billy Graham gave says it is impossible for us to know or even imagine all the wonders that God has waiting for us.

After walking with the Lord for 45 years, I'm too near home to look back--so I think about heaven a lot and long to be there.

I wonder if ol' Blackeyedpeas can sing?

Most of the answer was given correctly, and I don't understand how they remembered such details.

YES - Only in the shower.

YES - Only when my wife isn't home.

But someone filed a complaint against me the last time I sang. They called Animal Welfare and said I had a wounded wolf in the house. So, there are additional requirements my wife set for me now:

Bucket over head - duct-taped on.

Full-moon.

(Small Print:  I'm beginning to think that they don't want to hear me sing.)   :-\

By the way, I have an Elvis outfit for sale cheap. It was only tried on once and used for less than 2 minutes.
