Grin   Grin  ROFL - If my kids only knew, that would be a present on some special occasion.

I was just thinking about questions people used to ask in the FIDOnet International Echo "ASKACOP". My bulletin board was 357 Magnum for many years. If you wish to ASKACOP, go ahead.   Grin

It's really funny that the uniform on the Muppet looks much like the one I wore for about my last 8 years of service. Here's one for you JudgeNot - we did wear cowboy style trooper hats when I first started in law enforcement. I liked it - it was oval and meant to fit on a head. The later hats were round and gave you a headache.   Cheesy

I spent most of my career in a spit and polish type uniform and gear. I was an expert at spit-shining boots, and the rest of the gear was very heavy and stiff corfam. We used nylon gear and footwear about my last 8 years. It was obviously more practical, but I don't think it was as professional in appearance.

Well, I had a little trip down memory lane there for a minute.

Rom 11:29  For the gifts and calling of God [are] without repentance.

Oklahoma Howdy to AJ,

Your post hit the nail on the head. Romans 11:29 speaks of the perfect Character of Almighty God. "Without repentance" pertains to God not taking back HIS promises and always fulfilling them at HIS appointed time. Men are grossly imperfect, they lie, and they can't be trusted to keep an agreement, promise, or covenant. Almighty God is the opposite. A promise, gift, or covenant of Almighty God will be kept and performed beyond the measure of men. It's interesting to note that we never deserve to receive HIS Grace, Love, Gifts, and promises. On the opposite end of the scale, those who have been promised HIS wrath richly deserve it.

I give thanks that most of us on Christians Unite are partakers of HIS Grace, Love, Gifts, and promises, even though we don't deserve it. I especially give thanks to Almighty God that HIS perfection means that our Riches in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, will not be taken back. Jesus Christ, GOD and Great Shepherd, will not lose a single member of HIS Flock. This is because of HIS Might, Works, and Righteousness, not our own.

Thanks be unto GOD for HIS UNSPEAKABLE GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour for eternity!

AJ, thanks for your beautiful post.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to All,

Well, it looks like 100%. so far, want to keep the debate area and the vast majority wants to use some of the ideas already proposed. I would like to leave the poll open for a few more days, but I will start on a proposal for ADMIN based on recommended changes you have already made.

I will post it for discussion before doing anything else.

Oklahoma Howdy to Digme,

Cheesy  Now I know you are a guy.

I did read your post very carefully, and I think that I understand. I don't think this thread was intended to address our daily walk and fellowship with Jesus. I think it was more intended as a simple political thread for Christians to discuss who they will vote for and why.

There are some Christians who honestly believe that we shouldn't vote at all or voice anything in the affairs of men. According to them, we are not of this world and should have nothing to do with it. Some of those same folks believe that Christians shouldn't hold public office since it would be a conflict of interest serving God.

I bet you can guess that I don't agree with the paragraph above.   Cheesy  Many would be tickled to death if all Christians would simply sit down and shut-up. In fact, many would prefer that Christians were not seen or heard in public. Well, I won't sit down and be quiet. I hope that many Christians feel the same way.

I've prayed for every President almost daily, regardless of whether I voted for them or not. The same would be true when I disagreed completely with what they were doing. I feel it is a Christian's duty to pray for our leaders, regardless of how good or bad we fell they may be doing.

I think that most mature Christians pray at least daily about what to do that would be most pleasing to God. The same would be true for helping the lost, poor, and the hungry. It's more than obvious that hosts of Christians feel burdened to also help the hungry and sick of other countries, regardless of whether they wish to kill us or not. For each Christian, it should be a matter of prayer in everything they do or don't do in their daily lives. Prayer should be the highest priority every day, and everything else should wait.

There are still lost, hungry and sick people all over the world, regardless of how much we do or how hard we try. In fact, there are still lost, hungry and sick people in America. This is also a matter of prayer for most mature Christians every day. I don't hint that I have the answers, but I know who does. HIS NAME IS JESUS!

The problems of mankind started with the first man, Adam. It was his sin and the sin of his seed that are responsible for the horrible mess mankind created. JESUS is the only answer. The darkness and evil of this world will one day be locked away. In the meantime, Christians should stand up and "run a good course". We can't solve the problems of this world, but we should try. Our Saviour will solve the mess men have made at HIS appointed time.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to Ollie,

I must agree with you, but I would like to add something to the equation, something that is being talked about now.

We have a lot of Judicial activism that is not necessarily to do with the law or with the Constitution. They have done many things that are not the will of the people. I would add that the "Separation of Power" is broken. Several recent examples involve the Legislative and Executive Branch of Government being in agreement and the Judicial Branch either overturning them or doing something opposite.

We didn't elect the Judicial Branch of government, and they don't rule America. The people rule America in the form of our representative style government where we vote them in and vote them out. It is far past time for the "Separation of Powers" philosophy of the founders to be repaired. The Judicial Branch of government is involved, up to the eyeballs, in turning America away from God. The Judicial Branch of government is not our elected representatives, and they should never be allowed to rule America.

Tom

57443  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Christians Against Israel? on: July 18, 2004, 12:01:15 AM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

Israel is still God's chosen people. Bible prophecy clearly states that Israel will be center stage for the end times of this age. We must also remember that the man, Christ Jesus, came unto HIS own. HIS own were Jews.

There is much Biblical prophecy yet to be fulfilled with Israel. There are also promises of God to Israel that will be most definitely fulfilled.

Heads of State may or may not believe in Biblical prophecy and the promises of God to Israel. It is clear that many do not. It is also apparent that many churches either do not understand or disbelieve Biblical prophecy and the promises of God to Israel. I would quickly state that I don't understand all of the Biblical details about Israel. However, I would state with certainty that GOD isn't through with Israel.

As an overly simple statement, I would say it's not smart to go against Israel, nor would it be smart to neglect their needs. Regardless of how small Israel may be, it will most certainly be the world center stage for Biblical prophecy. No power on earth will be able to change the outcome. God's will and purpose for Israel will be fulfilled, regardless of how many nations stand against it or attack it.

Sister Reba, I'm well aware that most people in Israel don't accept Jesus Christ as GOD, Lord and Saviour. However, I'm also aware that God isn't through with Israel. If it came down to a fight with Israel, I would have to fight on the side of Israel.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to Ollie,

I'd like to make some general comments that I'm sure you will be able to identify with quickly.

First, absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Ollie, we live in a world full of evil. Every day in this world is a struggle for Christians. We walk here in a human body made of clay with illness, suffering, strife, and grief. All of these things are gone in Heaven, including the old earthly body we once used. Christians will be given a glorified body at HIS appointed time.

There will also be a new Heaven and a new earth at God's appointed time. In Heaven, there are no more tears, sadness, pain, suffering, and struggle for God's Children. THIS earth is not our home, nor is it our identity. Our life in this human body is only temporary. ETERNITY is in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

I'm sure that you easily recognize many portions of Scripture that will support what I just said. If you want me to list them, just holler.

Love in Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to SavedByGrace02,

Congratulations on the most important decision of your entire life, accepting Jesus Christ as the God over your life and your Lord and Saviour. I've heard a lot about the Campus Crusade for Christ, and I have many family members that have been involved in that effort over the years. I give thanks that God used them to bring you to Christ.

Enjoy the forum.

57447  Fellowship / You name it!! / Debate Area on: July 17, 2004, 11:00:19 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

There have been a few discussions on this topic in various areas of the forum. Some of the new folks may not know that we've had a war here for the last 8 months. I do hope and pray that it is finally over.

I would really appreciate it if everyone would participate in this poll and let everyone know what your thoughts and feelings are about having a debate area or not having a debate area on Christians Unite. I put a "Other - Please Specify" choice for those who don't like any of the choices.

It would also be nice for everyone to make a post here and let your wishes be known.

Love In Christ,
Tom
57448  Fellowship / You name it!! / The Purpose of Christians Unite on: July 17, 2004, 10:51:33 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

This is an attempt to find out what your primary purpose is for coming to Christians Unite. I really hope that everyone gives their input here, and I hope the choices are somewhat logical. The choice of "Other - Please state" should add anything you wish to the choices.

It would also be nice if everyone made a post here and let everyone know what you like and what you want. It should be a given that it is impossible to make everyone happy, but it would be nice to hear individual thoughts and wishes.

Love In Christ,
Tom

JudgeNot,

Brother, I wasn't talking about you. I was trying to understand what portion of this thread upset digme. This is 40 times milder than anything on one of the news channels.

Reba,

Sister, I sure did miss you in your short absence. JudgeNot and I will continue trying to encourage you to come out of your shell of shyness.   Grin

Digme,

I really don't know whether you are a brother or sister. I'll simply say that if you have Jesus Christ as the GOD over your life, that's all I care about. I don't know anything about where you live or what forms your thoughts about politics, but please don't let a discussion here get you upset.

Love In Christ,
Tom
