76  Theology / Debate / Re: Tithing - Top 10 reasons I don't on: April 21, 2007, 08:53:18 PM
Hi Jemdude,

The law was not done away with. It was fulfilled by Jesus Christ on the cross.

Eph 2:15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Rom 13:10  Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

We are now under the law of grace, which is also referred to as the law of liberty, law of faith, and the law of Christ in the New Testament.

There was much done with Jesus on the cross. I suggest a good study of the book of Galatians where Paul was chastising those that wanted to subject the church to the laws of the Old Testament.

This does not mean that we can throw out the Old Testament. There is much to learn from the Old Testament. From it we can learn that man cannot obtain righteousness on his own, that without God we are nothing. It is our school master that brings us to the loving, saving grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Gal 3:19  Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

AMEN!!!!

As for tithing, I see it this way.   Everything I have belongs to God anyways.   If I put down my own life to serve Christ, he has everything I own including my wages.   I do tithe, and sometimes give more, but its all His IMHO, and I give where I can.

Blessings!

Many posters here seem to "get it" others are having trouble with the trinity. Perhaps this will help them understand it better.
Let's think of the trinity in terms of a Storm. God the Father would be Thunder.  Jesus would be Lightning. The Holy Spirit would be the wind. Each one is a seperate entity, but all have the full power of the Storm and are inseperatable.  Smiley

WOW....I love that analogy!!!

Your husband sounds like he is really battling this thing.   I'm sure you have brought this up, but in case you haven't...

Considering the price that Jesus paid for his sin, and was yet willing to forgive this very sin, shouldn't it be all the more easier for your husband to forgive himself?   Guilt is like a bag of bricks.  Once you realize you ARE forgiven, you simply put the bag of guilt down and move forward.   Gods laws and judgment will never chase us beyond the cross...to quote/paraphrase Spurgeon.   We are free from our guilt and shame on the other side of calvary, because Christ bore it all for us.  To carry guilt beyond the cross shows that one may need to revisit the cross and lay it down there where it belongs.

I know you know all of this, but perhaps your husband needs to be reminded.

Still praying sister!  May God's love and mercy shine on you both.

Hmmm....So, like setting up a password type of access to a particular forum is not possible?   Of course, going with the same theme I was talking about before, pw's would have to be changed each time someone new wanted access it.

Just some thoughts I had, that might be useful.

OK PR.

Brothe Jerry...I don't mean so much making a place on the board for ONLY a select few, but rather it being known as a PRIVATE area that only those requesting temporary access when they need to, could be ministered to in private, then that access is gone once the session is done.  Know what I mean?  Its not a "join my click type of area" on the board...its a lets go into one of our private prayer rooms type things for a short chat, then that door is locked once the session is over.

Perhaps Any left over discussion in there could be removed once its all done, leaving it blank for the next session.

I have another question guys, or possibly a suggestion...

I don't know what the software used for CU is capable of, but I've seen on other boards where they have a private - small group type areas, which can be seen, but not read by all..... where various members when requesting, can gain access from the mods to those set aside areas of the board, and discuss more personal matters, pray, etc. without the whole WWW.... being all up your business....lol

Not so much in regards to my previous thoughts in this thread, but rather for helping and assisting others with specifically, personal or private matters?.   (provided that feature is even possible that is?.)    Huh

Blessings!

Hey Father ira.

I certainly am all ears if you want to talk about this more.  The PM feature on the board is not available.  The admins had to turn it off because there were some trouble makers using it to harass members, so I'm afraid we will have to speak here.  But we can do just that!   Smiley    I for one would love to hear more about you, and what you're going through.

You mention a few things in some of your posts, that shed some light on things I believe, but I want to ask a few questions in order to make sure I understand where you are spiritually.   I  hope you don't mind?   Smiley

If I may ask, how is it that you came to know the Lord?  If you could, just give brief background on that, and then we'll talk some more.

btw, I work fairly long hours between weds through friday, so I might be a bit slow in replying, so don't think I forgot about you or anything if I take long to respond.

As the terminator would say..."I'll be back"   Cheesy

88  Fellowship / For Men Only / Re: can i be gothic and christian at the same time? on: April 18, 2007, 05:17:37 PM
Hi father ira,

Coming from a similar background years ago....not goth, but heavy rock, I can relate to the being attracted to dark thing in a way.  I also recall a type of depression that had a certain self indulging enjoyment to it if you will (as odd as that sounds).   Not like the typical depression most people relate to.   At least I think this is what you are talking about.

I'm not sure I can provide you better answers than you've already received from PR and Brother Jerry though.   Those are great replies to your questions.   If you are feeding on the word of God (reading scripture daily) I am sure you will start viewing all this differently, even if it takes a while.

It might sound like a real typical answer to hear that, but there really is something about that book.   When you bury yourself into its pages, your thoughts, your attitudes, lifestyle, EVERYTHING, begins to change.   Not that God wants to change you into some bible thumping person wearing white all the time...lol, but there is an inward change that happens in the mind and spirit, that transform believers into the likeness of Christ.

You said that you were saved.....Are you reading scripture daily, and do you attend some sort of fellowship with other believers?

Blessings
89  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: Worthy Is the Lamb - VIDEO on: April 18, 2007, 04:53:27 PM
It seems that photobucket works similarly to youtube and other like sites.  The video is embeded, and no provision is made for saving them, only linking to the page where it is played.   There are ways to get around this on youtube (which I could explain, but it requires a bit of effort, in addition to actually going to youtube which I could understand one not wanting to), however that does not work on photobucket.   Also, I would offer to e-mail you the video's but the file sizes locally are quite large, and my email attachment size is only 5 megs...so that won't work either. Angry

I checked out GodTube that PR was talking about and didn't see any of the ones I posted so far (they are still growing though), so I'm not sure how I can help you get a copy for yourself.   Undecided

If I do find a way, I will more than glady let you know though, in the mean time, you are more than welcome to play them as much as you like from my pb links.   Smiley

Just checking up on ya HIC...hope things are going ok.

Psa 17:6  I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

Blessings!

Edit to add:  had to come back and add a wave smiley...lol
