Good web page recommendation… it is a shame that a similar broadcast isn’t put out on television, direct TV, cable etc… encouraging viewers to turn off the tube… possibly something along these lines, “got time to watch TV?... then you have time to live life!!!  What are you waiting for?... turn it off and get to it!!!!” Grin

Greetings from snowy Ohio!

Adhering to the commandment, “Thou shalt not kill” I have been pro-life for as long as I can remember.  Thank you for sharing the quotes and web site.  They have certainly strengthened my, already steadfast, pro-life stance.

Your Brother in Christ,

Glad you enjoyed it.  By all means... you may use it in the church news letter.

Tibby,

I suspect those crosses could symbolize more than one thing.  If I were a Baptist preacher… the last thing I would want is the congregation pulling out the nails and hammer…lol… Grin Grin

I too enjoy making a bit of saw dust fly every now and again.  Yep, God has blessed me with His protection in this respect as well.  I still have all of my extremities, fingers… toes….

With the loving support that your wife gives I am surprised that you are not building an addition on your house…lol… Grin

Keep making the saw dust fly… and driving those nails… coyote… Wink

Good points, Pastor Bruce!  I know of several Churches that have had this problem.  That is, someone slips in and destroys a marriage and a church.  At first, in the earlier stages, it seems to be so innocent.  Then it blossoms into something God would never approve of.  This all takes place with one little compromise at a time.  In reading Biblical stories and observing the life of others around me I have come to the firm conclusion that small compromises lead to BIG compromises.

Being alone with the opposite sex is a rather risky endeavor.  Of course, this is not to say that just because a man and woman are together, with no one else present, some sin will assuredly be taking place.  However, such a circumstance, that is a man and woman being alone, does increase the risk of such an occurrence.

In thinking of this I am reminded of a promise that I made to God and think it worthwhile to share.  In High School I rode the school bus.  I had many friends at school, but did very little socializing with them outside context of school and school related activities, their beliefs and ideas of fun were far different from my own.  Their social events often circled around drinking and other activities unacceptable to God.  Attending school, doing home work, and working 30hrs a week left little time for much else, other than attending Church on Sunday.  Fortunately, my busy schedule always provided a “good” excuse to forgo attending any parties.  In short, the relationships with my high school peers were good, but limited.  These relationships led to many interesting conversations, indeed.  They would discus a diversity of topics.  Nothing was off limits.  A particular group of guys viewed sexual relations with young women as some type of a competition, which treated young ladies as though they were nothing more than an object.

Fortunately, some of these young men would later come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  I planted the seed as the Lord directed and gave the best possible real life example of being a Christian.

Now back to their high school conversations and the promise I made to God.  One day, as the bus jolted down the highway, I looked out at the passing scenery.  On that particular day, I was exhausted, didn’t feel much like talking, and decided to set mid way of the bus, so I could just sit back and relax, before arriving home to head off to work.  The conversation in the back of the bus went on without my involvement.  Yes, the popular topic was girls.  The latest conquest was being shared with the greatest of details.

In my heart the Lord was opening my eyes.  I could see clearly that their lifestyle was NOT one that I wished to adopt.  On that day I promised the Lord that I would save myself for marriage.

Since that day the Lord has given me ways to keep my promise.  To Him, and only to Him, can I give the glory.  The real essence of keeping this promise is NOT making any small compromises.  There are too many boundaries to list here but one of the major ones is a “no woman” policy.  “What do I mean by this?”, you may be asking yourself.  Well, I don’t allow any women into my apartment if there is no one else present.  The only exception to this is family.  My Mother does come and visit often, after all someone needs to use the cook stove, otherwise it would just collect dust…lol…  Grin Grin Grin

Thanks for the input Tom.  Dully noted in every respect, I can relate to each of the points you made (with the only exception being the 25 years as a police officer…To fully relate to this I would have to of been doing the street patrols in my diapers… ha…lol.. Grin ).

It is no secrete that we Christians/church goers are living in a world of non-believers… many questions surface because of this very fact.  These may include… how do I witness to others… what missions should I work in… and so on… Likewise, it is on a daily basis that we have interactions with non-believers.  No doubt, I am not alone in wondering how to react to their lifestyle… which often includes some type of “twisting” of the truth…  Stumbling across the following story I could not help but believe this was the best approach considering the circumstances…

Two college students had almost completed the semester of Basic Christianity and were going into the last week of class, each with an “A” average.  Feeling confident they could pass the final examination, they decided to take off on the Friday before the Monday exam and head to a neighboring school for a party with some friends.  They stayed over too late on Saturday night and were unable to travel on Sunday.  They didn’t head back to their own school until Monday morning.  Even though they made it back in time for the exam, they decided it would be foolish to go into an exam without studying, so they skipped the exam.  Later, they went to the professor to plead for a make-up exam.  They lied and told the professor that they had a flat tire on the way back and therefore missed the exam.  The professor agreed to a make-up and had each one go into a different room with a test booklet and the test.  The first page of the test was a fairly simple question which was worth 5 points.  Both of the students answered it perfectly, and were sure the test would be easy.  As they turned the second page they read “Question 2 (95 Points): Which Tire?”.

How do you deal with non-believers/co-workers/friends/ etc. when you know that they are not being forthcoming in their statements/actions?
89  Fellowship / You name it!! / Planting Gardens on: March 12, 2004, 11:54:58 AM
Soon, it will be time to start planting gardens.  As you plant, may I suggest the following rules for planning your garden:

PLANT three rows of squash:
1.   Squash gossip
2.   Squash criticism
3.   Squash indifference

PLANT three rows of peas:
1.   Purity
2.   Patience
3.   Perseverance

PLANT six rows of lettuce:
1.   Let us be unselfish and loyal.
2.   Let us be faithful to duty.
3.   Let us search the scriptures.
4.   Let us not be weary in well-doing.
5.   Let us be obedient in all things.
6.   Let us love one another.

NO GARDEN is complete without turnips:
1.   Turn up for church, prayer service, and Bible study
2.   Turn up with a smile, even when things are difficult
3.   Turn up with determination to do your best for God’s cause

After planting, may you  “Grow in Grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”  II Peter 3:18.

Have a wonderful day in the Lord and my God bless your every planting… Tony

#10  You’re running out of clean clothes and the choir robes save on laundry.
#9  You’ve just been selected for jury duty and want to get used to sitting with a group of people.
#8  Your church is so full you want to ensure that you always have a seat.
#7  The collection plate is never passed to the choir.
#6  There’s a clock at the back of the sanctuary and you want to be the first to know when it’s 12:00.
#5  The preacher is new and you want to be close by in case he says something heretical.
#4  For years you’ve wanted to know who sits in the back pews but were always afraid to turn around.
#3  You’ve been known to nod off during the service and don’t want the pastor to catch you.
#2  The chairs in the choir are the most comfortable in the sanctuary.
#1  Your favorite move is Sister Act!
