LOL Well not in jail.......
I tend to travel on occation and don't want to be interupted in my study. I actually at this time have some interest in becomeing a pastor but mostly just an associate pastor.
Right now I am going to be takeing some of Moody's online courses. I can work my way to a BS in bible studies and then move on to a Masters if I want. Can't complain about their course election either. Pretty much all bible study, ministry and worship.
Thanks for the input.
Try this one. Good reputation, etc., various "scholarships". http://www.trinitysem.edu/

Seconds to PR, plus....
A public teacher who teaches falsely in public is to be rebuked in public, not with the one-to-one commanded in Mat. 18.
FYI, Mr. Hinn (and others) have been approached in private, and have refused (on numerous occasions) to amend their teachings. Further, they have (on numerous occasions) stated to some parties (magazines) that they would change some portions, and have not, which makes them liars.
Scripture plainly tells us to reprove and rebuke false teachers. We are to try them (by scripture), and when they fail the test to point out that failure to ALL who might listen to them, so that the weaker might not be led astray.
Jesus certainly didn't have any problem upbraiding the Pharisees and money-changers.....IN PUBLIC.
Finally.....your quote of 2 Pet. and Jude is better applied to those false teachers themselves, because they speak of things that they know NOT of, and do so presumptiously, with utter self-will, they despise authority, and walk after the flesh (pursuing filthy lucre).
Learn a little discernment....

Interesting note, here.....according to Jewish sages going back as far as 1100, the expectation among the Jews is for Messiah to come in the year 5766 (Jewish counting). Do you know what year this is according to the Jewish calendar? And changes in August to....?

The ONLY message that is relevant then, now, and forever.......
Preach THE WORD! Be instant, in season and out...
And He (the Holy Spirit) will convict of SIN, RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND JUDGMENT TO COME.
My sheep KNOW my voice, and follow me.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Any other "relevance" is irrelevant.

If I may be allowed, here. Ahem... The church letters in Rev. tell us several things, and relate directly to several interpretations simultaneously. First, as evidenced that John was writing to churches that then and there (c.95 AD) existed, it is a definite indication that they can, and do, co-exist, regardless of the "age" we're in. Second, it also gives us a "time-line" glimpse at how the church(s) in general evolve over time, with one being particularly dominant at any given point in time. Lastly, it also refers to the kind of church that will primarily be in existence at the time of His return. As an example, the "Philadelphians" existed during the time of the Sardis church, although they were few and far between, usually hiding to escape the persecution of the predominant group. The Laodiceans (at least in the US) are the predominant type of church, relying upon wealth, knowledge, alleged intelligence, etc., and preferring to let others "do the work." I think the best parallel to what is happening today, and the Philadelphian church, is to remember Elijah. After whupping the baal worshipers at Carmel, he ran "in the power of the Spirit" all the way back to Jerusalem, but when Jezebel frowned at him, he ran for the wilderness. After a few days (weeks? months?) of whining and crying, God said very plainly: quit thinking you're the only one...I have 7,000 more just like you, who have not bowed down their knee to the false gods. So, even among all the Jezebels, and Hinns, and Parsleys, there are a few........and most of them come to CU!

FWIW....the WCOC has been around for about 30 years, now....and it's agenda is the complete secularization of religion...the establishment of one unified religion that everyone is comfortable with. HAH!
It is difficult to find out what they're saying, because what they are saying is obfuscated and generalized into a mish-mash of politically correct ecumenism.
It is predominately from the efforts of the WCOC behind-the-scenes that there is so much furor today among the Anglicans, Episcopalians and Methodists over feminists and homos. According to the WCOC, the only thing that matters is that "god" is worshipped, not how, or by whom, or even who He is....everyone can call Him what they want, when they want, and how they want.
Truly they are the refuse collection center (trash dump) of religion building their own tower of confusion.
Oh, more "seaker-friendly" shi... flith, great! No wonder it is only Evangelicals involved Kidding, only kidding WHOA, Tibs! It's a VERY good thing you didn't say "No wonder it is only Evangelist involved"

Theology / General Theology / Re:ABOUT THE MARS HILL CHURCH IN SEATTLE
|
on: May 05, 2005, 12:53:05 PM

Based on the churches history their roots came from what is known as a "Bible Church". Bible churches are a branch off of the old First Baptist Churches. Mars Hills since has become what they believe to be an independant multidenominational type of church.
Well thats funny cuz if they branched off a "bible church" from which my impression is that those guys are the type of church that take the bible at its litteral point, then why would Mars Hill block out that once section in the book of Acts about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and believe that it doesnt happen today? Most "Bible Churches" who say they take the bible absolutely literally and without error, also claim the same bible tells them that all of that ended when Paul finished writing, or when the canon was finished ala John's Revelation. As proof text, they point to 1 Cor 13 where Paul says tongues and prophecy will be done away with when "that which is perfect is come." Their stance is that that which is perfect is the Bible, and it has come. It is basically the same stance taken by most Baptist churches, and the vast majority of all the other mainline denoms....it also includes all the different varieties of dispensationalists. They don't literally "block out" that part of Acts, they just re-interpret its meaning through the filter of that one passage in 1 Cor 13.

The two nicest churches I've ever been to....because of the fellowship, the heart and soul of the ministers and the congregants, were:
Church in the Park, Temple, Texas. We met under one of the picnic table covers. 100+ people attended, and we shared hot dogs and chili afterwards.
Church under the Bridge, Waco, Texas. Literally, under one of the IH35 overpasses.....about 350 people. Same thing.
Wonderful!!
Didn't have anything there that looked like TBN, either.....
God was there.

You mean the bookstores that include Doctrines & Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price, Yoga for Relaxation and Meditation, The Collected Writings of Helen Blavatsky, etc.? Seems to me that Jesus said somewhere "make not my Father's house an house of merchandise"

Go get a glass, put some ice in it, and then fill with water. While doing that, enjoy the air you're breathing.
H2O....comes in three forms, solid, liquid and gas, is comprised of 3 molecules regardless of it's state, and co-exists.
And humanity cannot exist without it.

Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Terri Schiavo – Revisited
|

While it's not Terry Schiavo, an interesting thing happened over the past week.
A schoolteacher apparently got tired of caring for her elderly grandmother, and had her transferred to a hospice. Grammaw was alive, kicking, could eat for herself, and drink, and so on....had a little trouble moving around, was all.
Teach got a temporary guardianship signed off by a probate judge, then proceeded to tell the hospice to cut off food and water.
She went ten days without before some other relatives were able to get another court to grant them custody and transferred her to a hospital for emergency hydration and feeding.
Who is next? Better hope you don't get old, feeble, disabled, blind, speechless, crippled or contract pneumonia, food poisoning, flu, mumps, muscle cramps, MS or ALS, or get constipated......you're liable to be in BIIIIIG trouble!....especially if any relatives find out (or your next door neighbor).
