IRS to Church: 'Stop Preaching Anti-Abortion Message' -- Press Conference Thursday

Pastor Mark Holick of Spirit One Christian Center in Wichita, Kansas has been a very vocal opponent of abortion and pro-life leader in the city of Wichita since 1991. Wichita is home to the infamous late-term abortionist, George Tiller. Tiller is known throughout the world as "Tiller the Killer." He not only kills late-term babies but, if parents so desire, he will baptize the babies before he burns them to ashes in his (on premises) incinerator.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has now contacted Spirit One Christian Center and demanded that all church records be turned over to determine whether or not the church is in violation of its 501c3 tax exempt status. Pastor Holick is being singled out as one through whom the IRS can send the message: "Don't touch abortion -- if you do, we will come after you!" Local ministries have been extraordinarily effective in bringing an end to the abortion industry in Wichita. There is only one abortion mill left -- George Tiller's.

There has been an onslaught of legal tactics attempting to crush Christian ministries that live out their faith in the streets. Now they are throwing IRS scare tactics around. "This is simply the latest step in an effort to silence our Christian witness outside abortion mills," said Pastor Holick. "The IRS is a powerful weapon in the hands of those who desire to censor Christianity and remove gentle Christians from proclaiming Christ at these gates of hell!"

"The IRS asked us to answer 31 questions concerning our efforts in the pro-life movement," Pastor Holick added. "We answered every one. Now it wants to audit us based on the "evidence" it has." (A copy of every piece of "evidence" the IRS has will be provided to the media).

Every piece of "evidence" speaks directly and specifically to the sanctity of human life which is taught and affirmed in the Bible.

"This blatant act of tyranny by our federal government to silence the Church of Jesus Christ must not stand!" said Rev. Flip Benham, Director of Operation Save America.

I wouldn't doubt that Americans United might have had something to do with this. After all they have been pushing the IRS to go after and prosecute a number of churches in the past. The newest one being a Catholic Diocese that spoke out against Giuliani's stance on abortion.

That is one thing the IRS can't accuse me of, as I pay taxes at the Church.  We are not tax exempt so the IRS can't say a word to me, about the policies of our Church.  In fact that is my sermon is about Sunday, "Abortion and Murder".
