Title: Martial Arts for Horses
Post by: Tibby on November 03, 2003, 06:29:08 PM
This is a post to ask Whitehorse if she ever found a New Martial Art. And to ask any of the new guys if they are into the Fighting arts/sports. But mainly to ask Whitehorse if she ever found a New Martial Art. ;D

Oklahoma Howdy to Tibby,

 ;D  I'm really kind of disappointed. I know a Shetland pony who is developing a complex about being picked on all the time, and I thought this might be the answer.   ;D

In Christ,
Tom

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ;D that was rich, bro.

Oklahoma Howdy to Tibby,

 ;D   ;D  I couldn't help myself and had to do it.

This reminds me of the old General watching an approaching cavalry charge. He yelled, "Shoot low boys, they're riding Shetlands."   ;D

I had to do that too.   ;D

In Christ,
Tom

I'm not sure is I meant to say "What is it now?" or "Is that a no?" but I think I just typed them both ;D

Back to the question at hand, did you ever pick a new Martial Art?

Why is it that since I started retaking classes, I'm hungry constantly. I wake up with hunger pangs, which is new for me.

And, is it normal to have chest pains for three days after class? I also get them when I climb. Last climb, same thing. Chest pains for three days.  :-\

Oklahoma Howdy to Whitehorse,

No, that is not normal. You really need to see your doctor the next time that starts and at least let him listen to your heart and maybe give you an EKG. It might not be anything more than a rib or sternum muscle, ligament, or tendon that has been pulled or irritated, but you can't take any chances with something like that. I guess it could also be something lung related, especially if you also have difficulty or pain in breathing at the same time you have the chest pains.

Please, go to the doctor. It might not be a bad idea to go now, before your next chest pains. It could be other things also. My wife was put in the coronary care unit about 2 years ago with severe chest pains. It turned out she had nothing wrong with her heart. She had an esophageal hernia. She had the pain for quite some time on and off but never told me about it. We were lucky that medication took care of the problem.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I agree with BEP!

The worst that will happen is that it will put your mind at ease! And ours....  :)

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. You're right-I should go. What if they tell me I have to quit-that would be the worst thing that could happen right now. I've been under so much stress these past two years I can hardly handle a can of Coke without having chest pains.  :-\ :-\ :-\

Title: Re:Martial Arts for Horses
Post by: sincereheart on January 25, 2004, 02:37:23 PM
So when are you going?  ;)

I doubt they'll tell you to quit. I did say 'doubt'! I imagine they'll try to find out the underlying cause of stress and deal with that, they might suggest no caffeine, but rarely do they tell you not to get exercise (less strenuous exercise, maybe).

Exercise is good for you and is a good stress reliever.

Did I ask when you're going?  ;D

:'(  My mother has costochondritis, could this be what you have? In the past she has had such pressure and pain that we've gone to the emergency room for fear of a heart attack or stroke. There isn't much of a cure (that I know of), but she has really improved through gentle exercise, including walking.

Ibuprofen helps, Mom's doctor told her to take double doses when she's in pain. It reduces the inflammation.

Also, mom would get bad pains down her arm and side; this turned out to be a pinched nerve in her shoulder, which is relieved by putting both hands in the "OK" sign, and twisting the arms so that your eyes are looking through thumb and forefinger, and your other fingers are pointed down along the cheeks and jaw.

Just read this thread tonight, Whitehorse.  So sorry to hear about your health problems  :(.   I agree with everyone else that you should have it checked.  It's probably stress related and not heart.  When you wake up with hunger pangs, do you eat and does the pain go away when you do?  Have you recently begun to take any new vitamins?  Maybe all this exercise is too much for your body (stress).  It sounds like you just might be over doing it.  If there's any kind of inflammation, ginger capsules are really good in lieu of drugs.

Hope all goes well for you.

Father, in the name of your son Jesus, I ask that you would give Whitehorse wisdom.  I ask that you would send your Holy Spirit to Whitehorse.  I ask you Father to send your angels of healing to Whitehorse.  I ask you Father for peace and grace for Whitehorse.  If Dr.'s get involved, I ask that you would give them wisdom.  I pray for Whitehorse's spouse, Father.  Help that spouse be a comfort to Whitehorse.  Give that spouse courage, Father-----all in the name of Jesus.

Peace, health, love and blessings--------------

Cris

Thank you so much for your gracious replies. It really means a lot. I didn't have a problem with the pains this week, I know it was because of your prayers and well-wishes. I did take my heart medicine right after class though. I still have some from when I was on it earlier this year. I haven't had a chance to see the doc yet, though; as soon as this project is finished I need to.

This is the first time our instructor prayed specifically for our safety before class. I'm so glad he did. God was kind-just dizziness but no pain. But we did some leaps from horse stance, and the girl next to me couldn't figure out which direction we were jumping in. So, she didn't move at all. Which means I came crashing down on her foot because we're all supposed to jump together. I think she's still mad at me.  :-\

Sincereheart. I love your concern. Thank you so much.

Willow, thanks for the tip-I'll have it checked out. I'm sorry for your Mom and her pain. I'll pray for her healing.

Cris, that was a beautiful prayer. Thank you so much for caring.

Love in Christ,
Whitehorse

Uh! Pardon.... You didn't mention this little detail earlier....

I haven't had a chance to see the doc yet, though; as soon as this project is finished I need to.

As a mom I must say ::stern voice here:: You need to make that appointment TODAY! Sheesh! If you have a history of heart problems you need to see the doctor ASAP! ::fierce mom look here::

Ok, mom lecture over....
(yes, I drive my husband and kids nuts, too ;))

CALL NOW! (please....)

Is there a Martial Arts for Sissies?

I'll get right on it!

Sym, martial arts isn't for sissies, but it is not required in most organizations to kill oneself to prove personal devotion. The new committee overruled the ancient requirement by one vote.  :-X

Title: Re:Martial Arts for Horses

My doc thinks it's stress. And it's true-I have been under unbelievable amounts of it. I think my body is adapting to the exercise now.  The workouts are intense; I've been eating pretty much nonstop since I started and my clothing is getting very loose on me. So maybe it was just a lot harder than I was used to.

(((hug)))

Title: Re:Martial Arts for Horses

So you DID go and see the doc?  ???

And he said it's okay?

What kind of heart medicine were you on? No, check that. It would be meaningless to me. What kind of problem were you  being prescribed heart medicine for? :-\

Take care of yourself!

Well, I didn't actually mention the TKD since I was feeling better :-[ but I did have an EKG not too long ago. I do have a prolapsed valve, but other than that the doc said it was probably stress. I had arhythmia and chest pains, and that was the reason for the EKG. And I have to be very careful with caffeine.

Last class wasn't bad-no pain and no medicine. I almost had to walk off because of dizziness, but that is normal for me. Those are some really intense workouts. But God has been good to me.

Ahem..... ::)

Ummmmm..... ::)

Say what??

 ::)

Ya know, low potassium can cause probelms, too.

And if you happen to find the time to mention these ever so small details  ::) to your health care professional, they might just be better able to help you....

Just a thought..... ::)

Could it be because Whitehorse had been on heart medicine and was having chest pains after TKD and forgot to mention it to the doctor?  ::)

Just keeps 'em rolling..... ::)

No wait.  Maybe sincereheart sticks out her tongue more than she rolls her eyes.

Now that I think about it.

It's hard to tell, actually, which is done more.

It should all be very interesting at Bible Study, I'm sure.   ::)

Well, I just didn't want the doctor to be overly concerned about the TKD, just in case all the information wasn't in yet, and I was improving...  :-[

I was afraid he was going to tell me to quit without really thinking about if I needed to, not really taking into account the gravity of such a directive.  :-[

But as it turns out, there are ways to deal with the MVP that can vastly improve the situation that I didn't know before, and the exercise seems to be actually...helping! Although the first couple of episodes were an eyeopener.  It also explains why others I know with MVP have my same symptoms, including one of my best friends. So now I'm shuttling them all off to do the same things that seem to be helping in my case. :)

Sincereheart, you're awsome. *hug*

Er, well, I've been doing a very good job of keeping up on the TKD! :) Only had to walk off the floor once, but the instructor knows about the problem now and if I start getting disoriented or doing a sloppy job on easy moves, he slows us down.

As fer the doctor, well, I found out more about my situation through some reading and it seems to be helping. They never know about all this stuff I find out on my own anyway. They only tell you things you don't want to hear. And I am getting much stronger. As long as I stay well-hydrated, cut out the sugar and caffeine, and remember to breathe while executing the techniques, I'm okay. I think i'm getting stronger! :D

*hug*

 Please let's do talk about martial arts! Do you not agree that everything we as people, we either do for God or for Satan? In this case we have Christians who train in martial arts for the purpose of gaining stronger leadership skills so they may teach other Christians how to serve God in a possible better way as a leader for Christ. Point in fact, check out www.wctf.net
