136  Theology / Bible Study / Re: Bible Triva on: December 05, 2007, 11:42:38 PM
I was already to post a new question this morning but I see this one wasn't answered yet.  Oh my goodness sakes!
I will leave this one up for another day and if not answered I will give the answer tomorrow morning and post a new question.
In Christ,
Grammyluv xxxooo

Of coarse I know you were looking for when she was first mentioned, but We also find her in 1st Chronicles.

1Ch 1:32  Now the sons of Keturah, Abraham's concubine: she bare Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan; Sheba, and Dedan.
1Ch 1:33  And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Henoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these are the sons of Keturah.

-(2Ki 8:15 ASV)  And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took the coverlet, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

It has been awhile since I  last posted  here, but I do visit quite often and truly enjoy reading the posts here through out the forum.

The "Lord" sure works in mysterious ways, as this question was asked by our Pastor just a few days back.
Anyway I believe this is the answer you are looking for.

Keep up this post, I think that the more our Christians start viewing this, more may like to join in too.

(Act 1:26 KJV)  And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Lord, we put this situation in your capable hands.

Mat 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

142  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re: new to the forum... right now i need your support, please. on: September 28, 2006, 04:57:39 PM
hello skaiblue2;

I too will pray for you, as it was said before, God will never leave nor foresake you. Who are we to question what His plans are for us regardless of what we do, or have done. I would also like to add that God may not answer your prayers in the manner nor the time that you expect.

I too am relatively new here, even though I have been here for some time, I post replies when the Holy Spirit moves in me, and from what I have read here, He has done so in you at this time too.

I can personally testify to the fact that God never leaves nor foresake us, I started in the faith very early in life, and sadly due to circumstances I fell out of my walk with God. I became an alcoholic while serving in Viet-Nam and was so for a number of years, all I can say is praise the Lord and the holy spirit, for never leaving me, as He came back into my life after a night to say the least that was not so pleasant in my life.

So, kai, do not give up,  search and read the scriptures daily, you will find solice there.
I personally find confort in:
Phi 4:11  Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

May God be with you and guide you.

143  Theology / Debate / Re: salvation on: September 28, 2006, 04:16:41 PM
Thank you airIam2worship;
how very true, without intercessory prayer, let alone prayer for all, and the awsome power of God and prayer. Where would we be!
144  Theology / Debate / Re: salvation on: September 28, 2006, 02:46:05 PM
Isn’t this why are missionaries, to go into all the nations and teach the gospel, were created?
Now I do understand not all are appointed by God to be missionaries, but those who are and are directed by God to do so.
Such as Philip, as it is written in:
[KJV]
Acts 8:26, and was told, by an angel of the Lord, to go into the desert where he came upon a man of Ethiopia.  I know that the Ethiopian eunuch was already exposed to the word because he was reading Isaiah.

[KJV]
Isaiah 56:3  Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

And as airIam2worship  said “But man was created to worship, there is a desire in the human spirit to worship”

[KJV]
Psalm 22:27All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

As for going to hell, those of us who have accepted Christ and been washed clean by his shed blood at the cross will go to heaven and stand before the judgment seat of Chris, where He will intercede for us:
[KJV]
Rom 14:10 for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;

And the rest will go to the “Great White Throne of judgment”
[KJV]
Rev 20:11  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
145  Theology / Debate / Re:When we are born and die? on: July 22, 2005, 08:49:34 AM
One day after our mens bible study session was over for the day, one of my brothers in Christ said this statement; " The best thing a believer in Christ, could hope to take with him when they pass on to glory with Christ is knowing that his children are saved and going to heaven too"

This I think is a little different than the context of the original posting of "When we are born and die" and the topic of born with nothing and will take nothing with us when we die, but it surely gave me another view on what we as christians and  who has any earthly family; such as children should also set our goals on. So, that when we do leave this earth and step into eternity we can take the knowledge that they are going to join us there too.
This would also be giving glory and honor to Christ, our Lord and Saviour in serving Him, we would also be laying up treasures in heaven I think.

hey everyone. lately i've been getting discouraged about praying. when i pray it feels like im talking to no one, just thinking these thougths in my head and God can't hear me... like i'm wasting my time. it's getting harder and harder to concentrate when i'm worrying if God is even listening...

Hi parkker007:
God does and always hears our prayers even if only in the form of aching groans and wordless sighs.
I can take personal joy in this subject, as I know first hand and Thank the Lord for His all powerful love and understanding.
I have a hard time getting what I am trying to convey across, but I can take joy and have the peace of God in my heart because;
I know that God does know and the Holy Spirit endwelling in me supercedes any of my in the flesh iniquities.

What Prayers are unheard? the answer is none
What prayers may go unanswered for awhile? Quite possibly those that are prayed while there is iniquity in our hearts.
What paryers does the Lord hear? Prayers of repentance; so if there may be some area of our lives that we may be harboring anger or sorrow, we need to turn it over to the Lord.

As the posting by 2nd Timothy said
Quote
I have felt this way too more than a couple of times.  David the psalmist did too.  I assure you that God does hear your prayers.  God wants us to really seek Him and search for Him.  I know in my own walk there are times that it feels like my prayers are hitting a brick wall, and it creates it me a sense of earnest prayer and searching, and there is eventually a break through of sorts.

 Well put 2nd Timothy

Psa 66:18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Psa 66:19  But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
Psa 66:20  Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

 Also:
Rom 8:25  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Rom 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Rom 8:27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Lord, I thank you for your Love and Understanding.

Welcome to a new life in Christ, babyjesus2005.

So I am going to church with them this week and I am going to give it a try.  It's scary.  I don't know if I can give up my old lifestyle, the drugs are hard to let go of but they said that Jesus will give me all the strength I need.

You have taken the first and most important step in in your life when you opened your heart to hear our Lord and Savoir Jesus's words.

[From the Bible in Basic English]
Nahum 1:7  The Lord is good, a strong place in the day of trouble; and he has knowledge of those who take him for their safe cover.

1Corinthians 10:13  You have been put to no test but such as is common to man: and God is true, who will not let any test come on you which you are not able to undergo; but he will make with the test a way out of it, so that you may be able to go through it.

Brother Dave,

You are most welcome.

I was just thinking and reflecting about this again, and I missed something BIG in the answer about what a Christian takes with him or her when they physically die - OUR RICHES IN CHRIST!

This is just the same way I as a Christian and having the Love of Christ Jesus our Blessed Redeemer in me and the hope and promise of Eternal life in heaven with him, precieve this question.

I too feel for those that reject Him or worse yet those who set in the pews each Sunday going through the motions and still rejecting the truth's

Luk 13:27  But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity.
Luk 13:28  There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you [yourselves] thrust out.

Mat 13:41  The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
Mat 13:42  And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 13:43  Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

 Brother in Christ

Dave
Mat 13:44  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Brother Tom,

I thank you for your answers and understanding here with this question I have posted. And, yes you have given me excellent answers.

I do know that we are to set our goals on where we will spend Eternity, and not to be content with our earthly walk.

I have always had a tough time with words and getting across what I am trying to say, But I can Thank and Praise the Lord our Savoiur that He does. Even though I a new to posting here, I have read many of the others posted here, some with much interest and others not so. There was one once on Military and being a slave that bothered me, I attempted to respond, but I thank the Lord I stayed out of it because it was so far away from the Bible and the Lord and the answers made me feel sad.

I think what I am or was asking is just more to do with how I may answer someone who does not know Christ, when they say to me or tell me that "I was born with nothing, so I'll take nothing with me"

There are so many times in my life that our Lord and Savoiur has shown me that He is real and No one can ever tell me that He is not.

Once again I thank you for your answers and understanding.

I give all praise and honor to our Heavenly Father for giving us our all for; "Man without God is nothing; but God without man is still God"

Thank you for your responses to this question, I have asked.

I take it from the responses so far that I am not too far off track with this question. Yes, the nothing in question does pertain to the material things of man

Quote
KJV 1Ti 6:19; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life
.
Would be our trust and faith in our Lord and Savoiur that He will do as He proclaimed,
Quote
KJV  Mat 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This is in accord with our confessing we are born sinners, and knowing that Jesus came to earth, paid the ultimate price on the cross and was resurrected again to show us the way, then calling on Christ Jesus to be our Personal Savoiur; after which we are then called son's of God. And, once we are touched by the hand, finger or Holy Spirit of God, (I suppose how one would view that) we will never be the same again, Praise the Lord!

I do understand that God is love too, but?

If I understand this right, if we are born of God's love, then where is the Sin nature?
I believe the bible tells us in Gen 5:3 that the descendants of Adam are born in Adam’s image and likeness, which is that of a fallen sinner; aren’t we, those descendants? But than again earlier in Genesis I think 1:27 it tells us God created man in His image.

I suppose we could go on here with a lot of different places in the bible, which was written by the Patriarchs and Disciples with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Now back to my original question, if we are born with nothing; then we can not take anything with us.
I came up with this while attending a funeral of a friend, not mentioning it there though, as the Lord told me now was not the time.
If we are born with the Sin nature, then we are born with something (not material), and we will be leaving this world with something (again not material); whether it be that same Sin nature, or the transformed body and soul;  with the Holy Spirit living in us. Which I pray that all of us; in Christ, truly do believe. I think the ones who will suffer the most are the ones who reject the most of God’s Truth and words and Jesus Christ; who said in John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Thank you all

in Jesus Holy name

Dave
